Ill admit I am biased because, well, because I am biased, but Little House is a blessing, and there should be more of them. Cities across the country moved away from this kind of market over the last 30 years, and youre hard-pressed to find many of them left. The margins are low, everyone drives to get anywhere these days, and the larger stores offer a one stop shop for food, household supplies, etc. But weve lost something that Little House brings back, and thats the store that serves the neighborhood. And not just the Bellevue neighborhood, but the Virginia neighborhood as well, by focusing almost to exclusion on carrying Virginia grown organic vegetables, meats, wine and beer, and a wide variety of other products. Their focus is on providing their neighbors with great food and customer service on a smaller scale - where the owners will probably know whoever walks through the door by name - and are motivated to stock what they love to eat. I think every neighborhood should want a Little House of their own, and I feel lucky to live so close to the flagship.

Really wish I could call this store our local Grocer, but the prices are way too expensive to make that a real possibility. Every time I go in, it is with reluctance, a choice made by forgoing price for distance. Our family is very health and environmentally conscious, but we also believe that good food should be available to people of all economic backgrounds, not just the elite. I am pretty sure this Grocer only serves the wealthy people of Bellevue, although Ginter Park and Lakeside are right near it as well. It is pretty much impossible to shop here and feel good about it. Having just come back from our honeymoon in France, the extremity of the prices is even more apparent to us, for in France, incomparably perfect fresh bread, cheese, and organic produce are available at the village market for the most humble of prices. We sincerely wish Northside had the same. We need more desire to serve and nourish, and to realize that it is not true that natural, local, and organic food should cost more. It should cost a realistic price.

Great little grocery store. Chocked full of local produce, meat, beer, you name it. Super friendly staff too. They even have fun discounts if you bring back used jars and lend tote bags to carry your groceries.
