STAY AWAY from the SALAD BAR The food is old its always stored at the end of the night and then placed BACK AGAIN THE NEXT DAY! Picked through and eaten by hundreds a day! I know this to be a FACT. GO ASK wholefoods yourself. NOBODY thinks of these things. I DO, B/c I care about what I eat. Most of the prepared foods are DAYS OLD JUST LIKE WEGMANS IF NOT WORSE. You can thank me b/c It wasnt until I complained to a help desk guy that they ALWAYS* have rotten fruit sitting there with the rest of the fruit that they did something about it. I went and picked the rotten fruit for them and handed it to the help desk Guy that was there at the time. Its the norm for this whole-foods at Market commons to have ROTTEN FRUIT. ALSO IT SHOULD BE CALLED WHOLE-APPLES, B/C THEY HAVE LOTS & LOTS OF APPLES as fillers to appear as if they have TONS of fruit. Its NEVER* changes. Apples galore of all kinds its boring. No wonder people never eat fruit its hard to find good quality ORGANIC fruit. Its only getting worse ever since they sold out to *CONVENTIONAL* produce. Organic Mangoes are ALWAYS over priced almost $3-$4 per mango! Give me a break! I eat 2-3 mangoes a week not anymore. Its rare they have sales on mangoes like they use to 3yrs ago. Its rare they have something Other then thousands of apples! ALL the fruit is always mixed with rotten fruit! THE Produce you get thats Organic like kale and carrots, relish, etc., its SUPER dirty I always wonder, where are they getting it from?!. You have to wash it 5 plus times with vinegar. THE TEA COOKIE SECTION, WATCH OUT! The TEA COOKIES sit there all day with flies just chilling on top in the summer time! THE TEA COOKIES ALWAYS smell like a wet dog. They smell dirty, They bake them in dirty pans and the bad smell is part of the cookies. Go see for yourself, sadly this is the truth and the norm. Ive gotten sick eating the tea cookies! All their baked goods smell bad even the ones in the back enclosed in the glass cases that are OVER PRICED each item is no less then $1.50- $2.50 per cinnamon bun etc, and they smell bad! When baking USE PARCHMENT. Why is that so hard? B/c there is no quality control at this whole foods no management to foresee the workers being lazy and not having a care in the world about Procedure. Its great to go to if youre a guy who goes to drink at the bar and eat at the bar! HOWEVER, For an actual wife trying to cook healthy dinners and looking for organic fruits and vegetables its NOT a good place. I USE TO LOVE WHOLE-FOODS. Its no longer a Place dear to my heart anymore. STAY AWAY from the SALAD BAR The food is old its always stored at the end of the night and then placed BACK AGAIN THE NEXT DAY! I ASKED A SPANISH LADY THEIR SHE TOLD ME THE TRUTH.

Whole Foods has always been the elite of grocery stores, but this Whole Foods in Fairfax is the crème de la crème. This store is enormous! Its got everything your neighborhood Whole Foods may have plus double! Tons of fruits and veggies, fresh whole fish cut to order (which if you want to eat right after you order, can have the seafood bar folks cook it for you for a mere $7 cooking fee), cheeses up to your eyeballs, smoked meats made in-house, and lots of prepared foods. Want emu eggs? This locations got em. Not to mention, this location has a coffee/tea bar where you can get whole and grounded beans. This is where I first found my favorite Fabbioli raspberry merlot (they have it at the Arlington location as well, but I found it here first). Best of all, Whole Foods Fair Lakes recently got itself a ramen bar! Called Ramen Temple, they serve tonkotsu (thin noodles in a rich pork broth), veggie (thin noodles in a veggie broth), and mazemen (thick whole wheat noodles) ramen. Tonkotsu (pork broth) with chashu pork, bean sprouts, scallions, black mushroom, ajitsuke-tamago (marinated boiled egg), mayu, red ginger, and seaweed - all $11.99 +Shio (salt) tonkotsu ramen +Shoyu (soy sauce) tonkotsu ramen +Spicy miso tonkotsu ramen The veggie ramen has steamed mix veggies, bean sprouts, black mushroom, ajitsuke-tamago, mayu, and red ginger for $8.99. They offer two kinds of mazemen - bacon and egg (dashi cream sauce with a hint of bonito, bacon, spring mix, onsen-tamago (poached egg), and fresh veggie creamy sesame mazemen (cold noodles in a creamy sesame sauce, spring mix, avocado, cucumber, grape tomato, and tempura flakes). The bacon and egg is $11.99 and the fresh veggie creamy sesame is $8.99. You can also add on extras such as noodles, protein, or eggs. They also offer $3.99 steamed bao sliders in chashu pork, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp tempura. I had the veggie ramen and I thought it was delicious. For this area, its a decent bowl of ramen. The veggie broth was very clean yet flavorful. And for $8.99, its considered quite a steal for this area in terms of ramen. I would definitely come back for more ramen. Even the hot green tea was good. It was actually Japanese green tea and not a Lipton product. But again, how can I expect less from Whole Foods? Theres also a wine tasting room with over 80 wines on tap and an awesome sports bar with tons of TVs, draft lines, and happy hour specials that go from 5-9pm. During the summer, the Sports Spot, Enoteca Wine Bar, and Cheese Grille are open on Fridays and Saturdays until 11pm.

the meat counter team disrespected me, but the bakery and deli team was wonderful. They gave me two lbs of free meat for the disrespect, but I wanted it cut = why I was waiting. Free is nice, but treating SOME people nice is not good. I should not have to tell a manager that the butcher is needs to know how to treat people. The first person acted like I was a bother and tried to hurry me like I didnt belong...told him what I wanted, he didnt listen and got the order wrong... his team mate came over... takes my meat and places it on the scale... its sitting there while he helps other customers.... it stays there... I walk over to it and see .. yeap that my selection, sitting there.... he is actively helping the next customers... I ask him to take the meat down and put it under wrap or lower temperature, he scolds me that it he said it would be ten minutes.... So i said.. will you take the meat off the scale (implying that he put it out of everyones face and breathing and the open air of the store)... he is bothered now... and so am I... i leave to get someone else to listen and get the meat under wrap or put away... they see the meat sitting and handle it for me... manager spoke with me.... I dont know... I expect at least the best practices at Whole Foods... I know he was nicer to the other people in line... so I dont know... I would have let my customer know that I respect them, even if their order would require them to wait; I was buying boneless lamb for kabobs.

One of the best grocery store experiences Ive been to. Its a shame they are so enamored with anti-science woo (homeopathy) and questionable food choices (eschewing GMO), because the store is quite good (if a bit overpriced). What makes this Whole Foods special, though, are the non-Whole Foods aspects. This place has the standard hot food bars (soups and the like), but also has - a wood fired pizza oven, a seafood restaurant, a BBQ restaurant, a wine bar, a sports bar with daily happy hour specials and a constantly rotating selection of on-tap beers, and recently, a ramen bar. They also have a great beer selection and roast their own coffee in house. Its really an amazing shopping experience. I still buy most of my groceries at Wegmans. The meat department here has an amazing selection of sausages that are well worth checking out. One question, though - why is it that a store thats supposedly so concerned about the environment never lets me have a single paper bag for my groceries? They always double-bag, insist on splitting my order into multiple bags, and argue with me about my choice to use a single bag. Every. Single. Time.
