I live right around the corner from this store so its incredibly convenient. The food selection is very nice, because it is fresh and wholesome. But the breadth of items available pales in comparison to the big grocery stores, like Fred Meyer. If you are a fresh food kind of person then this is the place for you. Their salad bar, deli counter, dessert and meat counter offer many wonderful items for a quick lunch, snack or lovely dinner. My wife and I go here often to pick up a thing or two, but we would NEVER exclusively shop here because it is much more expensive than the major grocery retailers in the Portland metro area. That said, this is just about the only game in town if you live in Sellwood; the exception being the QFC in Westmoreland. If I didnt live around the corner from the store I probably wouldnt shop here because the parking lot is entirely too small for the amount of business they do. But the staff here have always been the nicest and most pleasant people to talk to. They are great. And the weekend tastings are amazing! Ive tried so many good foods for free that sometimes I leave with an almost full stomach. So this store is a bit of a toss up. If you have the cash and the patience, then I would recommend shopping here often because the employees are wonderful and the food selection is fantastic. But if you want to save some money and avoid the aggravation of finding a place to park, then go your local Freddys or Albertsons.

This is the store that is close to my house so in desperate times I am forced to shop here when time is short. I like a couple of people who work here but the majority are so-so when it comes to customer service. I like the meat department but nothing else stands out to impress me. I probably end up shopping here once a week when the time calls for a quick trip but I try to limit my visits to only those times cuz not only does it cost a lot for everything, but two employees followed me all the way to the crosswalk and had the nerve to tell me that someone told them that I was shoplifting and the wanted to look into my bag.....i was shocked and after a hesitant realization I then offered up my bag with it wide open and said "go ahead and take a look" after which they refused. I also told them that this was my neighborhood store and how very uncomfortable i will be if I ever shop here again. And no apology. I called the manager, told her what happened and to please let her employees know that if they dare to apprehend people they suspect to b stealing and they ask to look into their bag and its given allowance for such, to then go ahead and please search the bag. It may just prove the innocence of the falsely accused and will then remove the label that was wrongly given to them and take away their discomfort if ever they shop there again.

We were trying to find sour beers in Portland but werent having much luck. We went to the aquarium earlier and decided to look for sour beers on the other side of the river since we were over there already. I typed in "fancy beer store" in Google maps. This site popped up and we went to it. Parking is pretty hard to get a spot in but we lucked out. The store has a lot to offer that we dont have in Utah. But beside that, we went to look for sour beers and found an employee that was excited to help us. We found Consecration by Russian River Brewing, (only two bottles though) and took it. He showed us one by Cascade Brewing and then pulled one out of the back by them also for us. He suggested an IPA that he likes too by Russian River. Theyre great beers and Im glad we stopped by. Wish we had then in Utah.... so enjoy it Oregon!

This is our regular New Seasons market, and so were pretty well known by the staff, but theyve always been pleasant and helpful. This location seems to strike a good balance between the smaller locations and the mega locations, and were usually able to find what were after. Pricing is fair (Ive seen much worse in other states), although if youre used to shopping at a big box/chain, you might get some sticker shock. But I also think youre paying for a better product, that is locally sourced when able, and a fair wage for their employees. They really do feel like a part of the neighborhood.

I do enjoy shopping at new seasons stores. Its really hard to punish them for anything other than parking and hoo-boy is parking horrible here. Everything in sellwood has horrible parking but because this is a grocery store the effect is multiplied tenfold. The store itself is great and is your everyday new seasons with awesome produce and locally made items and exhorbitant prices which are all to be expected. I know that parking is impossible to do well there, but I still have to let people know who may be reading this and dock 1 star.

Sets the bar pretty high for markets and similar grocery stores. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. They always have good deals on a variety of products. Being a smaller store their selection of goods is just right, they are continually changing the store layout as well as outdoor seating and retail spaces in order to best utilize the space that they have. They accept Android pay now which is a plus. All in all its pretty safe to say that people find excuses to go shop at New Seasons, there are plenty of good reasons why.

I so appreciate New Seasons commitment to local, fresh, sustainable and eco friendly food and business. It is my favorite grocery chain in Portland however, I prefer the Happy Valley location to this one. The Sellwood location is quite a bit smaller and has a different feel to it. Super crowded, and hard to maneuver around if you are just looking to browse and enjoy the products. I am sure that if this was my only option around I would still come just because the products at New Seasons are so superior to say Safeway or Walmart (yuck!).

New Seasons produce is second only to farmers markets. I dont know why anyone would compare this store to Fred Meyer. Fred Meyers produce is every bit as expensive and the quality offends me and their deli sucks. Fredys deli is not even good freshly prepared and everything sits under a warmer all day. New Seasons Deli is great and you will pay a little extra but the food is way better quality. They have a big selection of organic food, natural foods and bio-friendly cleaning supplies that is comparable in price.

We like going to New Seasons, but do so very occasionally due to the prices. I dont mind paying a bit more for good service, and if you shop sales and use coupons in the Chinook Book, you can do okay, but some of the prices are just outrageous. Over $11.00 a pound for deli Turkey? Really? Is it made from a magic bird? Overall, though, the meat case is just outstanding, the bakery is wonderful, and their ready-made meals and sandwiches are as gourmet as you will find in many of Portlands best restaurants.
