This Safeway as well as another Safeway on Boones Ferry Road are chronically understaffed so I dont shop there often. My main purpose for going to the Safeway on a street in Lake Oswego is to send or pick up a money order and while this may not be important to the bottom line of the store it is a service they offer and Im writing this Safeway three stars because I have never been there no matter what time of day or evening when I havent had at least a 5-10 minute wait at the customer service counter. When somebody finally does arrive at the customer service counter they are always very courteous very helpful so in terms of service staff personality they would get a 5 overall rating though is 3 because of the incredibly long wait

Cashier, Colleen was very attentive and helpful trying to help give me a store discount because my 2 Safeway Cards were at home and my old/new cell phones werent working and she offered a 3rd one I turned it down because I didnt want another one added to the pile so instead she gave me the store discount but the courtesy clerk was snapping his fingers at me rushing me holding out my bag as if I was taking too long to get my purse and Bible gathered back in my hands after buying a package of cookies for my lawyers office after snagging a few cookies from their fridge because I was hungry and desperate for something to snack on and a slice of a German chocolate cake for my friend, Reed while I asked for the snack bar for my purse.

I purchased 42.00 of food products a few months back. I was billed 3x amount, I asked teller if i would be billed extra since card was swipted 3 times, she said No! I went home and checked my balance online, 3x charges. I called your store, Manager said to call back in AM to talk to billing person, called back, It was classic pass the problem, I was told to call my bank! It was the first time there automated system had ever 3x billed. I called Safeway customer service, They said it happens all the time! Store is to call them at once and handle problem on the spot! I am not rich, the issue tied up money for 5-days!

Definitely on the downhill, as I find almost all the Safeways are in the Portland area. This place is old and needs a revamp. Their produce doesnt look fresh and they really just need an update overall--the food they have here seems out of touch with people who want fresh, local, organic, wholesome. Still very much an over processed grocery store. Dont feel like I can get anything here under 800 calories. As other reviewers have mentioned, the checkout is exceedingly slow. They need to hire more people; Im always eager to get out ASAP.

Mostly, Id give it four stars, as I did at first. That review follows. But if you need something nearby after 9PM, this is probably your only choice. So, I now give this top marks in its category. First in a field of one, basically. Old review: "Are you hungry or in need of common household items? Do you have spendable money? Do you lack enough time, transportation, or willpower to visit, say, New Seasons, TJs, Costco, 365, or even Palisades Market? The nice people of Safeway would like a few minutes of your time."

Worked my very first shift cleaning houses in Lake Oswego with my coworker who doesnt have a valid drivers license or car insurance but because of my depression and anxiety about being a Christian and going to Church every week she got off with a citation for not having any money for car insurance because of my valid drivers license. I pray for her to get car insurance so that she doesnt get arrested and I hope that she goes to the DMV Office to get her drivers license reinstated.

The employee in the deli with a very friendly when we were there in the evening. He was very patient while we took our time to figure out what we wanted. Some people have noted this location is older and needs an update, but honestly it has been updated compared to how it was years ago and it looks fine to me. I cant speak for how the rest of the employees were, but the employee in the deli I dealt with was very friendly and so was the cashier who rang us up.

Busy or slow, this Safeway suffers from "one speed" syndrome. Since the albertsons merger/acquisition at least two dozen common items I buy have permanently vanished from shelves. Last but not least, be sure to consistently check expiration dates as their meats and dairy products tend to have expiration dates expiring in the next 5 minutes. After shopping here for about two years I finally had enough and shop elsewhere.

I havent noticed anything about this place that makes it especially bad except for that the prices are higher than any other Safeway in the Portland Metro area. Why is this? Well its because youre in a very trendy area called Lake Oswego. If you can avoid going here too. If you were from here then get what you pay for and go to new seasons or Zupans if you want these kind of prices.

Most of the staff is great, the rest are inattentive, awkward and poorly trained weirdos. I worked at Trader Joes for almost a decade and have worked in the customer service industry for over 15 years so I know when people are poorly trained or ill-suited for a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.

Definitely not my favorite grocery store in Lake Oswego. They always seem to be out of at least one thing I need. The express lane is usually the only open lane and theres almost always a wait. The staff is always friendly, but that doesnt make up for the stores short comings.

THE WORST STORE EVER. The Employees are totally worthless, old terrible food, and they discriminate. I grew up in lake oswego and have been coming to this particular safeway for 36 years and ill never go back. Do yourself a favor and goto a real grocery store.

Ok store but only one checkout open and the line was well back into the shelves and no other cashiers were called to the front. Waited 10-15 mins to pay. Will go to the one West on Boones ferry Rd from now on.

Just your basic Safeway. Doesnt rate higher than 2.5 but thats not an option. Previous manager gone now so that makes it better! I prefer 365 down the street. Do the math and its less expensive!

This store has become a nightmare ever since Albertsons closed, no competition so no need to improve service. There is never enough competent checkers and the deli staff is awful.

This pharmacy is ridiculously slow...I came in during the least busy part of the day and had to wait nearly an hour for a simple prescription. Ill stick to Fred Meyer from now on.

This Safeway and small and cramped. Parking during busy times can be near impossible. Overall, its fine. I only use this location to run in to pick up something really quickly.

The tellers would rather talk to each other and the customers than do their jobs. And dont get frustrated if you have to wait or theyll insult you as you walk away.

Always busy, cheapest grocery store in town. Not a large organic section. Great wine selection. Pharmacy, Large Deli, Lots of parking.
