I own a used Trek road bike that I wanted fitted to my body. Ben Taber was the person who did the fitting at their shop. Ben was very precise and knowledgeable, asking all the right questions and taking all the right measurements to make my bike more comfortable and efficient for me. I needed narrower handle bars with a shorter extension along with a shorter stem. With the type of riding that I do with long hours in the saddle we decided to change saddles to widen it to my dimensions. I was treated with respect and courtesy throughout the process. After the fitting, I rode for about 30 miles and loved the ride. I couldnt have said that before the fitting.

Just bought a bike yesterday. I ended up with a Swobo Dixon, one of their demo/rental models that has been refurbished. I like that there was an option to get a refurbished bike, because I really didnt want to spend the money on a brand new one. I also like knowing that the bike is backed by the shop. I worked with Ben, and was very impressed with his demeanor and expertise. I also like that they give you a free 6-month checkup when you buy a bike, and all the accessories (which really add up) will be installed with no labor charges if you purchase them with the bike. So far, Im very pleased!

Service is exceptional. Every transaction I have had with this shop has been phenomenal. Always offering extra advice on how to keep my bike maintained and what to watch out for so that my race bike keeps rolling without issues. They do not fix more that you ask them but they will give you advice on what is needed for it to be the best. They found scary gremlins in my hubs and bearings that other shops have missed for years. If you have a Campagnolo bike this is the place, feels like a brand new bike. A quality tune up is cheaper than a new bike and its still yours for years.

Theyre the pinnacle of customer service and everything biking related. Whether youre an in-town commuter, tourer or bikepacker, this crew of cycling enthusiasts are second-to-none. I recently picked up my regal looking Surly, and the superb staff at 21st Avenue Bicycles exceeded my expectations -- it looks and rides amazing and I cant wait to begin my bikepacking adventures on it. Stop looking where else to purchase or rent from and go here! You wont be disappointed with their expertise and, most importantly, their welcomeness.

I have gone to them for many different reasons- building new wheels, getting race bikes ready, getting touring bikes ready, servicing mangled hubs, etc. The staff is very experienced and knowledgable and everything they have done for me has been top notch. They are very approachable and I have seen them help every type of cyclist with their needs, making customers feel welcome with the way they present and explain their products. They are my shop of choice!!

Awesome staff here. If youre ever down because the sun isnt out, head on over to 21st avenue bicycles. Amanda, Sean, Kyle, Atlin, and most assuredly anyone in there will strike up a conversation with you. High-fives, inside jokes, hugs, good music, and everything you didnt know you wanted from a bike shop. In addition to extremely qualified mechanics and excellent product from specialized, giant and surly.

Friendly and courteous. They made the whole experience as pain free as possible and had the best price of anywhere. The shop is small but had plenty of racing/urban bikes for sale. Will be a repeat customer and recommend them to others. So nice to actually be greeted by the employees and treated courteously. Blew me away when I was more or less invisible to the other 4 shops I visited that day.

I called to enquirer about a basic tune up on my Globe bicycle. I was told that I would have to leave my bike at the shop for 7 days. SEVEN DAYS! To do a basic tune up? That is completely ludicrous. I will let you have my bike for one day, perhaps 2 if the BB or wheel bearings turn out to be shot... but for a basic "tweak the cables and adjust the break pads" tune up... seven days is insane.

I live in NorthWest and have come to this shop many times for various needs on my bicycle. Every time I have come in for maintenance needs or to buy spare parts, they have always put me first. That is something that should never go underrated. Thank you Nick and the rest of the staff for your sterling professionalism and courteous help once again.

There are good shops all around the city, but I explicitly come here from SE because they are that good. They know commuting and racing. They know road bikes, mountain bikes and gravel bikes. They can order parts and they have spares lying around. More than once, they hooked me up with the right bolts, pulleys, etc, that I needed on the spot.

Great new video series on the web. Very creative. Oh yeah but really they're a bike shop. Seems like an ok place but in Portland you need to be GREAT to stand out among bike shops. Can't trip over a homeless person in this town without falling on the steps of a bike shop. River City Cycles still sets the standard.

Trustworthy as hell, the technicians at 21st Ave Bicycles are always up for talking through repairs and upgrades with me, giving me options and letting me know whats not worth spending the extra cash on. Was quotes $400 from another shop and they took care of it for $175. Cant say enough good things about this place.

Great little bike shop. Some bike shops feel very pretentious and intimidating. This is definitely not one of them. It is very welcoming and the mechanics are very honest. Went in for what I thought would be an expensive fix for my bike, but they correctly diagnosed and only charged me $5!

Despite the somewhat useless comments describing the "hotness" of the mechanics, I found the staff to be very knowledgeable and informative... not pushy, in fact referred me to another shop to find something they didnt carry. I would certainly come here again.

The website could do with some updating to reflect their actual stock and/or what brands they cary. Other than that, good service and hip staff but crowded so work takes a bit longer to get done than most in my book. Check out their youtube videos; funny stuff.

Went in really not knowing what I needed. Trying to get back on my bike after a break to have a couple kids. Staff took time to walk through options asked relevant questions and explained minutiae that I asked about. This is where I am coming to buy my bike

Very friendly and cool place to hang out. Raleigh bikes are making a great comeback and these guys know all bikes. Cool videos, check them out. If you are a Con-way employee, they give a courtesy discount, so dont forget to ask them. Highly recommended.

Stopped by to air up a tire on a decent bike I found in a dumpster. Mechanic met me at the door and was happy to fill the tire and make small talk. Bought a few other little odds and ends while in their for my salvage bike. Great and friendly service!

They retro-fitted the A in Awesome. Ive frequented many bikes shops - in both hemispheres - and 21st ave is far and away the best experience Ive had. Really friendly, knowledgable and they even have a pinball machine. Best in PDX by a mile.
