Ive had some nice experiences shopping at the Book Bin - its a wonderful place to browse, good seating, and (often) great staff. But the owner and his sidekick, Mr. Pompadour, were worse than unhelpful when I went to sell books. I felt like a complete dipshit as I tried to engage in a little friendly banter. I just said a few sentences as I dropped off the books, and when I returned I said a few more. Seriously, no more than 15 seconds in duration each time. On dropping off the books, they ignored what I said. Like didnt respond. But when I returned, Mr. Pompadour interrupted me to say "were done with these books, heres your check." I understand that this is a business, but theres a reason that people shop locally. That reason is about community and a vibrant downtown. It has very little to do with efficiency, which was not the issue at any rate. It was a very slow day, from the looks of it. I was sort of nostalgic at giving away so many of my books, and the entire experience made me feel that I should have gone to Powells (where you get more money) or just donated the books straightaway to Friends of the Library. That is what Ill do in the future.

Doing a little Christmas shopping this evening and wanting to shop locally I walked into Book Bin looking for a title. It was determined that the store had a copy, but it was on hold for a previous buyer. I asked how long it would be on hold as I would like to purchase it. The salesperson checked and said it would be about a week before they could put it back on the shelf. No offer to call and check to see if the store could release the book to someone who was ready to purchase. Ill be purchasing online as I can get it quicker than waiting a week for the hold to expire. Please consider changing your hold policy to 24 hrs instead of one week.

Well, theres a public (but can become private, if you remember to lock the main door behind you:) unisex restroom. Theres also an ATM machine safely located inside the building. There is also air conditioning. Also, Kuro the Bear, who lives in the childrens section and always happy to meat- er, greet you! Also, theres an attack cat on duty. Wifi is available. There are a few places to sit down and plenty of books for you to get lost in/browse, and youll never feel obligated to buy anything.

Nice selection of books, however a little pricey for used books as compared to other book stores. They will take in some trades, but didnt get much trade-in value at this store for the few books, probably because they have a large volume of books, Staff is definitely customer worn-out...typical of a larger book store. I like a bigger welcome....or just a hello would be great.

Only was able to spend 20 minutes here last visit, could easily have been here for at least another hour. Clean, well lit & very friendly & knowledgeable associates. The store usually has some really well put together displays too. Huge inventory, just a really great book store. Probably my favorite.

This is like the bookstores in the pacific northwest youve heard about. This place reminds us why we still need bookstores with their excellent curation and well sorted and appointed used selection intermingled with new literature.

We love the Book Bin! There is also a great kids section with new and used books and gifts which is fun for my kids to explore. The staff always seem a little depressed, but it doesnt bother me too much, just makes me wonder why.

I imagine that this is what Powells was like before it got...well...all Powelly. This place, for being as small as it is, has such an expansive book selection. Also, their DVD selection is great. The staff is awesome as well.

Great selection of used and new books that are reasonably priced. Staff is very helpful and will often ask if you need help. There is a unisex restroom in the back and you may need to wait to use it.

Book lovers haven. Staffed by book lovers. Tons of books in a bookey like atmosphere. Not quite Powells books in Portland, but you get the feeling of a larger then usual book store.

A big-boxish bookstore with the usual faults of: higher prices than competitors, sales staff not as friendly or knowledgeable as smaller stores. But at least its big.

Has constantly updated books, new and used. They have a great selection of Fiction and Non-Fiction, though the Fiction is more promoted. All in all good bookseller.
