THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADOPT A DOG! I MADE A VERBAL AGREEMENT WITH A WOMAN NAMED CINDY TO ADOPT A MALE MIXED BREED. SHE AGREED AFTER INTERVIEWING ME ON THE PHONE THAT MY LIFESTYLE AND HOME WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE PUP. I LIVE IN THE CLEVELAND AREA AND IT TOOK ME ALMOST TWO HOURS TO DRIVE DOWN THERE. I MET CINDY AND SHE ASKED TO SPEAK WITH MY GRANDMOTHER WHOM I LIVE WITH, SO I CALLED HER. SHE CALLED MY GRANDMOTHER WHO SAID YES, SHE WANTED THE DOG. THIS LADY CAME BACK TO ME AFTER 1 MINUTE AND SIMPLY SAID "I DONT WANT YOU TO HAVE THIS DOG." I TRIED TO ASK WHY AND SHE WOULD NOT GIVE ME A VALID REASON BUT ONLY SAID "LETS NOT MAKE A SCENE NOW," SO LOUD THAT IT WAS HUMILIATING. I WAS IN A PUBLIC PLACE BUSY WITH PEOPLE BEING TREATED LIKE "WHITE TRASH!" YOU WOULD THINK THAT AFTER DRIVING TWO HOURS TO LOOK AT A PUPPY I MIGHT NOT EVEN WANT BECAUSE I HAVENT SEEN IT YET, THAT SHE COULD HAVE ENOUGH MANNERS TO GIVE ME A SIMPLE BUT VALID REASON. ALL SHE SAID WAS THAT SHE HAS YOUNG GIRLS IN THERE ALL THE TIME TRYING TO BUY DOGS. THING IS, I SPECIFICALLY TOLD HER MY AGE BEFORE I WENT OUT THERE. I ALSO TOLD HER THAT MY 77 YEAR OLD GRANDMOTHER WAS TO OLD TO MAKE THAT TWO DRIVE AND THAT SHE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMPANY ME. HER ONLY OTHER WORDS TO ME WERE THAT SHE HAS "HOUSEWIVES WANTING THIS DOG." THAT RIGHT THERE, IS PREJUDICE. SHE STEREOTYPED ME AS A SINGLE YOUNG "GIRL" WHO IS WHITE TRASH BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO "MAKE A SCENE!" I CANT BELIEVE SOMEONE CAN HAVE THE AUDACITY TO LET SOMEONE DRIVE OUT TWO HOURS OUT OF THEIR WAY TO TURN THEM BACK AROUND WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF BEING THERE. THIS WOMAN ASKED NOTHING ABOUT ME (EX:WHERE I WORK, WHAT I DO, QUESTIONS ABOUT PREVIOUS ANIMALS, ETC) AND DIDNT GIVE ME A CHANCE AT ANYTHING. WHEN I WENT HOME TO SEE WHAT MY GRANDMOTHER AND HER TALKED ABOUT....SEEMS CINDY TOLD HER SHE DIDNT THINK I WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE DOG. I OWN A DOG ALREADY RESCUED BY THE POUND( WHICH CINDY ALSO KNEW). I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF HIM. WHO IS SHE TO JUDGE ME ON MY APPEARANCE. WHO IS ANYONE TO SAY I WOULD BE UNFIT. HOW WOULD SHE REACT IF I TOLD HER SHE WAS AN UNFIT MOTHER KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT HER?! I LIVE WITH MY GRANDMOTHER IN A 300K HOME W/6 ACRES, I WENT TO COLLEGE WITH A FULL SOFTBALL SCHOLARSHIP, I HAVE A FULL-TIME JOB, I PAY MY BILLS, I AM NOT "WHITE TRASH!." I COMMEND HER FOR HER WORK WITH ANIMALS BUT THIS WOMAN NEEDS A SERIOUS REALITY CHECK ON HOW TO TREAT HUMAN BEINGS! AND THE FACT THAT A BUSINESS LIKE PETZ PLACE LETS THIS WOMAN TREAT PEOPLE THIS WAY IN THEIR STORE SAYS A WHOLE LOT ABOUT WHO THEY REALLY ARE TOO! I WOULD NEVER LET SOMEONE IN MY STORE DEGRADE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING, EVER!

I purchased 2 parakeets here and was recommended by a friend who bought a bird here and they gave it a full check up and even recommended products to her. However, I did not receive the same experience. They sold me a sick bird (with mites) did not recommend what food they used when I asked he just pointed food is over there. 3 days after having the bird was when I discovered it had mites. I called and asked if I could return it and they said they have a spray I can use to get rid of the mites (they sold me a bottle used for small animals rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. A higher dosage then the bird mite spray) No instructions on birds and they told me to just spray the animal and walked off. I looked online for more details because both times they seemed too busy to help me out. I called again when the bird started acting funny (after 2 treatments of the spray) and they said its not their fault and it had a stroke unrelated to the events and to take it to a vet and they can give me 50% off another parakeet. And after I called the first time about the mites they told me they got rid of a huge batch of them because most of them had mites. Im really disappointed in the customer service. I asked if I could return the birds and they told me to use the spray and then they dont even give me thorough instructions and Im questioning if they even gave me the proper spray (formulated for small animals, not small birds) since the chemicals are double the bird formulated spray. I would not recommend them for new pet owners or trust them with (product) information about my other pets.

The manager Sue, she needs to find another job, if youre unhappy with your job get a new one. Everytime I talk to her I get disrespectful replies back. I had recently went in to buy my Royal Canine only to find from one week to the next the price of my dog food had went up $10. $10!! really?!?! $10 in a week. I understand price changes need to happen but $10 from one week to the next is ridiculous. I think I will be going else where to get my food. If I must drive to canton so be it, as I drive a prius and gas isnt an issue. This place is pricey. I had recently bought a glo fish tank for my daughter, the same tank in their store was $39.99 and it was $24.99 at Pets Supplies in Alliance. So I asked if they could meet me in the middle. And of course the manager again was very rude and unhelpful and said she couldnt go any lower. So I drove back to Alliance and bought the tank and fish there. The same glo fish in Alliance were $3 cheaper. I have a huntch that they are completely out of touch with their customers needs and their competitors prices. So if you have a little extra time, its definitley worth the time to shop around for more competitive prices. This place says they have higher prices because of the personal customer service. If so then fire the standing manager and get someone who is willing to work with the customer and their employees, not someone who just follows the numbers in the paperwork. Its called being flexible.

I am rating this store because I am shocked by the negative ratings I see on here. I have been a regular at Petz Place for eight years and have only received the highest quality of service. The owner, Dudley, is trustworthy and helpful. We have depended on Petz Place for our dogs food, treats and for entertaining our two small children with their fish, rabbits, puppies and ferrets. We have on occasion met an imperfect employee, as some of the other reviewers mentioned, but they are the exception (and theyre only there b/c Dudley is so nice to give them a job), besides he is almost always there to help you himself. The typical employee at Petz Place is overly helpful and knowledgeable. The dog adoption agency that one reviewer complained about is no longer stationed at Petz Place. This business is above reproach in their ethics and customer service and is a valuable asset to this community.
