For the past 5 days I have been dealing with a dead / hinging machine - one which i rely on to stream consistently each day. It was narrowed down to the RAM, PSU (power-supply unit), and/or Motherboard (in order from least to most expensive). Because of poor maintenance, bad surge-protection, and a few literal bugs in the system, several contacts on the Motherboard were fried. Throughout the diagnostics, StarTechs professionalism was in balance with their inventory (for users who need to be back up and running reliably at (really) fair pricing) was in balance with their commitment to produce a good and fair outcome, but above all they are endearing and friendly and this is why by name I have to thank Justin, Patrick, and Tyler (Billy gets a shout-out too, as he wasnt involved with my particular case but was still personable and helped the moment i asked for a screwdriver). The outcome: one dead mobo, 1/3 dead RAM sticks, and a dead PSU, and a morning (2-hour period) at the shop had me back to 100% (and my wallet breathed a sigh of relief). Any gamer, streamer, or self-contracted worker who needs consistent and reliable hardware to match must understand why such local shops as this one are indispensable. Lake City represent. I have worked for Startech for 6 years. I have enjoyed working for Bryant. He has taught me many skills. Startech is growing very fast and has the best overall service in this area. I am moving, so I cannot stay, but if I was to stay I would still be at Startech. I have seen all the reviews, most of them from old employees and customers that no one can please. When it comes to work Bryant is one of the best managers I have ever had. I have worked for many employers in my life and everything that I have done for Startech has paid off. People should not judge Startech based on price. You get good service, quickly, and they take care of so many people in Lake City, Live Oak, and Jacksonville. When you go some where for service, you want it to be busy, that means that they do good work and are the best. Thanks Bryant for your advise, training, and management. You all have been the best to work with personally. Startech has been growing for years and I have worked on thousands of computers, everyone take your computer to Startech, they are the Best!

I went there with a friend to price their macs. I did some prior research at other stores and their prices for brand spanking new models and also searched Craigslist for used models. I have to say I was impressed with their used models in stock along with their prices. Steven the technician that assisted us was very knowledgeable about the macs and was very helpful. The macbook my friend purchased needed additional ram installed for the purpose he plans on using it for(movie scoring) and Steven had the installation done in no time. I deff. plan on returning to purchase some things Ill be needing in the near future. While we were there I also got a chance to speak with the owner who seemed very helpful as well. He wanted to make sure we were satisfied with our purchase and seemed like a very down to earth type of guy. Overall the experience with this business was excellent and had us leaving with smiles on our faces.

The best measure of the integrity of a service oriented company is determined when something goes wrong. Here is where their reputation is stacked against their competitors. We sent an old and very tired computer in for "very slow performance". Within a few hours we we told that the hard drive was worn-out and would need replacement. The job was authorized and done placing the unit back in our possession in just slightly over twenty-four hours. A few days later the machine stopped working altogether and we sent it back. The following morning we were told that the unit was ready, tested and ready for pick-up. There were no additional charges requested. The machine has performed to our complete satisfaction ever since. I didnt ask why the unit stopped working and nor do I care. What I do care about is that they prioritized the issue and got it done, quickly, efficiently and without added expense.

Im in the final year of a Computer Science degree in digital and multimedia. This review is a followup to a previous review. After multi visits to get my computer repaired, I gave up on there ability to repair computers, it never was right. It would continually "bluescreen" reporting a hardware error. The only good technician that knew what he was doing with my computer was Tyler but getting him to work on it was virtually impossible. It seemed like my computer was farmed to only trainees. Finally, after tolerating the situation till the semester ended, I was able to take it to "Totally Covered" where in one day it was repaired and no problems since. And yes, I always ask questions when its my money being spent.

I would have rated this review better, but we went a purchased a DVD Writer for $50.00 to connect it to a laptop so we could have a way to read our medical disc... Well we had a chrome book so the DVD writer would not work with this machine, so we just went and purchased a new computer with a DVD Writer installed. I called the store so we could return the purchased $50.00 DVD Writer and they told me NO! That they have a " NO RETURN POLICY" What in the world. So basically I am stuck with this DVD Writer that I have no need for, and can not return it to the store, even though I have my receipt! I will not recommend this store to anyone. Sorry as a business you do not treat your customers this way!!!

When I first began deal with StarTech, they were nice. As long as you were spending your money and not complaining they were fine. When you question anything, that is when their evil sides come out. My son and his care giver turned in a computer to get an estimate. The tower ended up being lost. Despite the fact someone called and gave the care give an estimate, the owner claims they do not have his computer and offered for me to purchase another one for about $100. I told them it was unacceptable and Brian told me unless I knew the exact specs of the computer they would not replace it. Brian began yelling at me and told me to not come to his store again.

Three employees were helping two customers and I was in there for twenty five minutes and no one even acknowledged the fact that I was in there. If it took all three to help only two other people they could have at least asked me if we could wait. The third employee eventually went in the back and I left, without ever a word being said to me. And yes my computer is still broken.

Disappointed, what a waste of money! Purchased a new Star Tech custom built computer for the office. After 3 return trips and multiple parts replacements, I was forced to take it to another computer repair company. After an overhaul the computer works great!
