This Petco, in particular, its grooming salon, is poorly run. Susan, the manager of the grooming salon, needs some basic lessons on customer service and general common decency. We took our 3.5 year old yellow lab there, as we have been doing off and on for over 3 years, today. They had us in their system, knew our dog, and set up the appointment in advance without comment or controversy. When we got there, however, there was a new girl working at the grooming salon. When she greeted our dog, she seemed very nervous, as if shed never encountered an excited lab (or other dog) before. The girl put out her hand and arm in front of our dogs mouth, and our dog opened her mouth playfully but never bit (she has never bitten anyone in over 3 years), so the new girl went back and talked to her manager, then came back out and said they dont groom "mouthy dogs". I asked to speak with her manager, and Susan came out and said they wouldnt groom our dog and that "none of the groomers want to groom her anymore because shes so hyper." I left the store with my dog, and asked to speak to the store manager on the way out. Her office door was open but when the check-out clerk asked her to come out to speak with me, she said she was too busy. Why on Earth would you: A) get a job at a pet grooming salon if you cant deal with normal/playful dogs, B) hire a manager who has zero customer service/people skills, and C) set an appointment with a long standing customer in advance only to turn them away when they show up and the appointment starts the same way it has for the past 3 years??? Word to the wise: if you have a normal dog, save yourself the trouble and avoid this place!

I should have read the other guys review first. I took my two dogs there for the first time yesterday and they are an absolute mess. It looks like a child attempted to groom them. I feel bad posting this because the lady was so nice, but if you would see how badly their haircuts came out, you would understand that I have to warn you about this place if you care about your dogs appearance or your money. Unlike the other guys post, I was able to get reimbursed for only one of my dogs. I suppose thats fair, considering my two did get baths and nail trims out of it. However, was it worth the two snip marks I found on one of their undersides? I dont think its worth getting my dogs butchered just to get half price refunded. Both have patches of long and short hair resulting from this experience. It looks like chunks of hair was removed in some places, especially on the legs, but others chunks were left long. Guess Im still on the hunt for a new groomer. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. At least the assistant managers were very nice and helpful, and I understand the GM only refunding for one dog without me bringing them back tomorrow for another evaluation. Im thinking they might want to consider sending their groomer to some type of grooming school or something if they want to keep her around because its really unfair to people to have to pay that much for these kinds of results.

Like many of the reviews say its really weird when you walk in. It does seem dark and like no one is there. Even as you walk around the store there doesnt seem to be anyone and trying to get help is hard. The help you do get seems as if they dont know much about anything really. Prices are standard and nothing special. Our last trip there we went to look at adopting a cat but they have them behind plastic covered cages. You cant even interact with the cats really to get to "know the one" for you. The person we talked to do didnt seem to know much about the cats and seemed in a hurry to get into the back room the came out of. So we left.

This place is really over priced. I called a head suprised to hear they had feeder mice available. They did, but these mice were not feeder mice. These mice were fansy mice pets that cost $4.29. Pet paradise sells feeder mice for $2.25. I have been buying feeder mice for 7 years never paid over $2.50 each. I buy instinct cat food 5lb bag for $21 at pet supplies plus. Here it is $28. Employees do not wear staff shirts or anything to let customers know who to look for. You wait for ever for someone to notice you as you stand at check out. Oh and dont expect anyone to great you either. It looks like a ghost town and I understand why.

dont get ANY fish from there! Water quality is horrible and Ive even seen them selling fish with ich. They sold me one that was still in the bag from being shipped even though I specifically asked for another one that they already have had for a few weeks. The fish I got had ich and introduced it into my tank and it has cost me about 200 dollars. That fish died, it gave the disease to my threadfin butterfly and it died, it gave it to my clown fish but he is still going and I thought it was out of the system so I bought a copperband butterfly and it died overnight and this morning is when I saw my clown fish has ich.

Absolutely deplorable! I took my dog to get groomed and left with a shaved mess that my 5 year-old son could have done blindfolded. The groomer that butchered my dog needs to rethink her career choice immediately, because being a groomer is just not in the cards. After my butchering, I tried to get relief from my bill (literally my wife cried) but Petco would not credit even $1. Very disappointing and I will never return again for anything as a result. Since this experience, I have taken our dog to get groomed again by a true professional groomer. Sometimes the lessons we learn in life are just hard...

This place is fairly terrible. Every time I go in there are a half dozen employees (mostly teenage kids) doing nothing. And theyre always arguing in front of customers. Its ridiculously unprofessional. They also take pretty poor care of their animals. I recall last time I was there one of the male managers was cleaning the ferret enclosure and swearing about it in front of us and yelling at employees. He then kicked the box of ferrets over in a rage. I will never ever shop there again. Anyone looking to do some secret undercover camera filming of terrible places to shop would find a gold mine here.

We stopped in to the Mentor location looking for a specific item. We saw an employee walking from the back with his coat and keys and my husband asked if he worked there, and if he was still working or off for the night. He said he was off but would be happy to help. Even though he wasnt clocked in any longer, and could have just directed us to another employee, he went out of his way to assist us and give us suggestions. You never get that kind of service anymore. Thank you Thomas!

Will never go back!! Stopped in Sunday with my 7 year old to look for a hamster. They didnt even seem open for business, it was mysteriously dark and the few employees that were there didnt greet us at all. We left and went elsewhere where we spent over $100 and received great customer service.
