I made an appointment for a Lasik exam (a week in advance). The receptionist asked me if I wear contact lenses, and I said yes (which she documented). She failed to tell me that I was not to wear them for THREE WEEKS before my appointment. and then was told that they could not do the exam that I had made an appointment for, and that the receptionist forgetting to inform me about the contacts was a "minor detail" that they simply "forget" to mention at times while making appointments on the phone. I do not have the leisure of taking more time off from work to come and get another exam. The optometrist was very nice, and I had no problems with her. Afterward, another woman was sent out to talk to me about possibly getting new glasses, etc. she was rude, did not listen to anything that I asked or said, and when I asked her to tell me MY PRESCRIPTION for MY EYES, she told me no, not until I wear these new contacts for a full week. I asked multiple times to be told what prescription these contacts are, and multiple times, she refused to give me that information. She counteracted anything that I wanted, and I was way overcharged for a god-awful experience. I should have just walked out of that hole. I have never been treated like I was so stupid for wanting a copy of my prescription. Now that I have left their office, my eyeballs are burning and red, which I have pictures of, and it has now been 24 hours (could be from the eyedrops, maybe), and the new prescription contacts that she gave me are comfortable, but I cannot see any better than with my old prescription (this is why i asked for my prescription, so i could compare).

Another year (and exam) later and I stand behind my review in every way - and now, a friend and a colleague have become new patients with positive feedback to me from both of them. This time I was fitted for specialty frames & lenses to enhance my enjoyment of several pastimes/hobbies, which I eagerly look forward to receiving soon. Posted in 2015 - Over the past six years I have been to all locations and examined by all three optometrists . . . this group is the best Ive ever been in the care of . . . friendly staff, thorough exams, wide variety of frames and styles from which to choose and clear explanations of every aspect of my vision care needs. If youre new to the area and in need of excellent vision care, this is the group with which to make your first appointment. Their availability meets the needs of folks who work full time and need to be seen on Saturdays, of which Im one . . . I would highly recommend Family Eye Care Clinic to anyone in need of comprehensive vision care ! ! !

Ive had several negative interactions with the receptionists at the front desk. Not sure why, but very unhelpful with a lot of attitude. I feel that when you spend thousands of dollars in HSA dollar at an establishment, the staff should at least treat you respectfully. The office hours are odd with the office closing at 1pm on weekdays (strange). I did not have a problem with the Optometrist, and she was very helpful. I also had issues when calling about ordering contact lenses. No staffmember EVER answered the phone when I called, and I ended up just buying them online. My insurance changed so I wont be going back to this office, but have been planning on scheduling an appointment with a different office after the new year anyways.

Although it now takes me 7 minutes to drive to the Mentor location (compared to the 2 minutes it took me to drive to the Willoughby location), I am more that willing to add the 5 minutes to my commute time. Family EyeCares doctors are knowledgeable and personable. The staff has a great amount of respect for patients time; I have rarely been kept waiting for more than 5 minutes. The receptionists are definitely not the most friendly that I have encountered. I would also advise that patients should come to their appointments with a firm handle on their insurance plans; a receptionist billed me for a service that my insurance covers, an oversight that would not have taken much effort to prevent.

It was a very pleasant experience. I have been going there for several years now and made appointments based on availability so I got whatever Dr. was available. Last year, I was lucky enough to get Dr. Kane. I have been wearing contacts for mono vision and based on my vision, he suggested only wearing one contact which have worked out beautifully and best part is it save me money. I requested him again this year and hope to continue the same for years to come. I would definitely recommend Dr. Kane as my preferred choice.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kanes for about twenty years. I have always been very pleased with the services I have received. I have a tremendous amount of confidence in Dr. Kane. I respect his ability to work with patients - he is friendly and easy to talk with in a way that instills confidence in his knowledge. I have always recommended him to my friends and colleagues. Called a few places for glasses called family eye care of mentor first question was do that accept my type of insurance the answer was yes second question was how long was the wait for glasses was told 2 to 7 days after the exam and measuring was told 7 to 10 days I called on the third day just to see and was told it could take up 2 weeks for this insurance. if I was told this at the beginning is one thing but to lie just to get business is pretty sad.
