After needing service on my motorcycle I looked online and found Chrome and Speed. It is near my house so I went in to check it out. Its a small shop and after a first conversation the guys there seemed like straight up people. I described the issues I had with the motorcycle and the owner seemed knowledgeable about the problem and seemed confident they could fix it (which I like). Due to the motorcycle season in full swing I was told it would take 6-7 days to complete my repairs and I left my bike with them. Seven days go by and I hear nothing about the bike so I call in to ask about its status. I am told they are very busy and my bike is next up to be worked on (not a problem I understand how these things can go) but was told by the following Monday (3 days later) it would be finished. Monday comes and I dont hear anything so continue to wait. That next weekend (now 2 weeks since i dropped off the bike) I call the shop and to check the status of my bike and am then told they have 50 motorcycles waiting and mine hasnt even been looked at yet. The owner then tells me that they had a mechanic go down on his motorcycle and was unable to work so they were very behind. Now someone involved in a accident on a bike is never a good thing and something you never want to happen to anyone so even tho I was disappointed I can understand how it was out of there control. The owner assures me it would be worked on the next day. ANOTHER week goes by and I have to call in and was told I could come get the bike by the end of business. So I show up and see my bike still being serviced with the tank off (because of carb work) but was defiantly not ready to be picked up.. They tell me then while in the shop that my bike needs a battery and they have been unable to tune the carb without a battery so at that point I pay for a battery to be ordered and leave without the bike. Three days later they call me to come get it. I pay for all service at full price and and go outside to drive my bike home (now 4 weeks since i dropped it off) when I go look at my motorcycle there were several massive dents in the tank in multiple places. The most sever dent was in a location that could have only happened with the tank off directly under the handlebars. There were also multiple scratches on the flat surface of the tank like it had been laid down and scooted around on the paint. I go back inside the shop to ask what happened. The owner follows me outside and begins claiming all this damage was like that when I dropped it off (hilarious). He tells me that the tank was never taken off my bike so there is no way they could have cause the damage. He tells me that they re famous for never damaging bikes (which they may be) and that all the dents and scratches on my motorcycle were like that when I gave it to them. Luckily because I was trying to sell that bike I had taken comprehensive pictures from every angle the morning I dropped my bike off to them to post online. I pulled out my hone and showed these time and date stamped pictures to the owner who insisted they still couldnt have cause the damage because the tank was never off the bike. At this point I am angry because there was significant damage done to my motorcycle and I had proof of the condition I gave it to them in. Also I know that when doing carb work the first step on this model of bike is to remove the tank. The owner then called the mechanic that worked on my bike outside and asked what happened. The mechanic played dumb and said he didnt know. I then asked if he ever removed the tank from my motorcycle while working on it and he said YES. The owner then stormed inside and I guess made a phone call. He then stuck his head outside and said someone is coming to remove the dents and fix the paint but I will have to leave the bike with them again and then he stormed off again. To the shops credit they fixed the damage and I did not pay for that repair but would never trust this shop with my more valuable bikes or paint. (waited over 4 weeks)
