I took a vintage ring to them for a slight sizing change and the replacement of a tiny diamond that had been lost. The women working there told me that it wouldnt be a problem, and that they would call me with an estimate. Long story short, they never called, I had to call them a week later, and when I did I was quoted a price for the repairs by the owner. Then, an hour later I received a call back explaining that the ring is in terrible shape, it cant be resized without being completely rebuilt, they cant replace the diamond because of the condition of the ring, to size it could be several hundred dollars, etc. I told them to do nothing, and I would come pick it up at the earliest available date, which they said was 4.5 days away. When I arrived there on that day, they had forgotten to pick it up from the goldsmith. The women working at the shop fancy themselves jewelers, only theyre not, and they clearly dont know anything about jewelry besides aesthetics. In addition, they dont listen very well or follow simple requests, and are really quite rude. I generally prefer to patronize small local shops, but Ive learned my lesson. At least the big names know how to follow simple instructions. Also, Im not sure why the details Google provides says that they do Estate buying & selling. Im quite certain this isnt the case, as these people do not know the first thing about vintage jewelry.

This was honestly the best purchase experience of my life. When I began looking for a ring for my fiance months ago, I began with the chain jewelry stores such as The Diamond Cellar and Dunkin. I found every place I went to be a high pressure sales environment. For any man that has been tasked with buying an expensive piece of jewelry that represents life-long commitment, this is not something that you want to put up with. I found Star Jewelers to be family owned, so I decided to stop in since it is conveniently located in the Short North. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and felt that I was shopping in a relaxed environment. Dennis and Elaine, the owners, not only helped me find what I was looking for, but truly educated me as to what was available. This was very helpful in allowing me to make a smart purchase. With extensive help from Dennis, I was able to select the perfect diamond and setting, and now im proud to say that I am happily engaged, planning to get married next year, and the woman of my dreams loves her ring! Thank you Dennis and Elaine, and we look forward to seeing you for our Wedding Band purchase!

I must join the many others who rate this place five stars. I stopped in by chance to get my ring size. I had zero expectations walking in, but had my usual feeling of discomfort when I enter high end stores. My friend and I expected to "pop right in and pop back out". We ended up being there at least an hour and I bought two right-hand rings (and he bought cuff links)! The staff (including the furry, four-legged member of the family who lets you pet her) were so friendly. Their customer service is top notch because theyre so down to earth. They saw I was warm with my coat on; they offered to take my coat and get me something to drink. They never tried to sell me anything. Rather they let me browse, showed me various pieces, told me about my options, and helped me learn how to translate my personal style to rings (I have always been an earring person). They have one-of-a-kind pieces and there is something for everyone. I also got some jewelry education, which I shared with my boyfriend who is investigating engagement rings :-). I definitely know where Im going to get my wedding band if/when he pops the question.

I had a great experience with the entire team! From personalized service to great follow-up, one is left with a feeling of having gotten to know everyone throughout the entire buying process. Dennis was very knowledgeable and honest upfront, which was what i was looking for having dealt with others just trying to sell product. Elaine and the team were fantastic. I had done a ton of research on purchasing engagement rings myself and had gone to different stores but wanted to have the best buying experience and best ring for my future fiance. It put me at ease to know that each time i came into the store i was working with a team that was interested in getting to know me and could ease the anxiety of making the largest purchase ive ever done to this point. They were patient and willing to listen and get me what i want. I was working on a short time frame and they were mindful of that. Star Jewelers on High was a phenomenal experience. As someone who started out with little research and only basic information of what my soon-to-be-fiance wanted they were able to take the little of what I had and evolve it into something more spectacular. They did an amazing job of teaching me things I didnt even think about when selecting the ring. I was honestly impressed with how quick they were to get back to me with their list of options. All within budget too. Working with Rachel and her family really eased the pressure off that typical must buy now sale persona that you would typically find at one of the large branch companies. Because they are a family owned business, they treat their customers like family. I honestly left that store hugging people because they did such a great job creating that comfortable and dependable relationship with you. Thanks again guys!

I have ordered several pieces from star over the years and recently had them reset an old ring for me. The team at star is nothing but friendly, prompt, and flexible. They provided me several options for the new ring setting in each metal that I was interested in, and the finished product was gorgeous! I get compliments on it constantly.
