I called right around January 3rd of this year to discuss hosting my sisters baby shower here, and everything was great at first, the staff seemed extremely helpful and then it became a total headache. When sent our menu options, I had to ask numerous times how many people each platter fed, which is not that many. And then once we finally settled on our menu for the day no one received my email, the THREE times I sent it, there were times when I would email and never get a response back. So I called the Friday before our shower was to be held, just to confirm the order and thats when one of the staff members told me, there is a $400 minimum. Six weeks I talked to this cafe, six weeks of planning, discussing decorations, games, platter sizes, giving final head counts and not once did the manager mention a minimum, not a single time. So the Friday before our Sunday morning baby shower, I canceled it. She was so unapologetic about the fact that she failed to mention the minimum for the party, it did not seem to bother her one bit. I felt like it was a very unprofessional situation from the get go, but my sister wanted it so we continued the process, but once the got dropped on me I had enough. While I do understand why they have the minimum, she needs to understand that that should be communicated in the beginning not two days before a party.

I have absolutely no idea where these good reviews are coming from. I was very excited to try this place, and I was extremely disappointed. When we first walk in, the staff is rude and acts as if they are irritated that we are there. We order the fondue for 2 with an upgrade to dark chocolate and sit down. All of the tables are so dirty that we literally wiped our table down with napkins ourselves. The rest of the restaurant also looked kinda grimy. Our food takes forever to arrive. When it does, it is gross tasting chocolate that is far too thick for fondue (seemed like they melted some generic chocolate in the microwave). After eating it I felt sick. I kept feeling more sick so that I slept terribly and puked when I got up in the morning. Because of this, I had to cancel a date and work that evening. I do blame the chocolate cafe.

Awful service and poor communication with the staff and especially the owner and her sister. My wife had a baby shower planned and when asked if outside food (chips) and pop would be allowed we were told 3 times that it would be fine as long as we placed an order. We placed a $200 dollar order and on the day of her shower the owner said "absolutely not!" She said that she and her staff "dropped the ball" and apoligized, but no outside drinks. It wasnt a big deal to us, but her behavior and the way she handled herself was ridiculous (the owner). My wife paid for the food and got it to go. This is obviously a small business, in which we totaly support, but after the way this was handled we will never go back.

Great food, but horrible customer service!! I had to ask for my change after giving almost $2 more to cover the bill. I was charged for a cheesecake that was not on the shelf, simple mistake, however, I had to haggle to get a refund on the price difference, another $2, and this was after I asked to see the receipt. I can accept human error, but not dishonesty, and the staff seemed far from honest. The only person willing to help was reluctant regarding the price difference refund. Again, food was phenomenal, but my first visit was ruined by the dishonesty this establishment seems to accept as normal behavior.

This place is so beautiful architecturally. And they put live, little flowers at every table. I ordered a Buckeye Smore, and it was good. I do say, it would have been super easy to whip up that smore at home: all it was was a standard smore with peanut butter in the middle. But then it wouldnt have been served to me specially, and drizzled carefully with extra peanut butter. So special! Next time, Im going to try the lemon bar--because it looked like something super. The employees were also very friendly, and I was able to watch them prepare the food (always fun).

Chocolate cafe has good food options and great desserts. The location is a plus as there are not many options in the area where you can sit and enjoy your meal. The long hours are also kind of nice. They also serve wine and cocktails which can be nice to enjoy. However the reason I am giving 3 stars is the smell and smoke of the grills sneak up on you. If you spend a bit more than half an hour inside, it can really start bothering you. Most often we would have stinging in our eyes and would need to leave.

They sell all kinds of delicious stuff, from sandwiches to candies to ice cream and house made beverages. Everything weve ever tried there has been amazing. Love that the chocolate drinks like hot chocolate and cafe mocha use real chocolate. The environment is cozy, nestled in a quiet location right near Grandview. Love this place! Just be aware that parking can be problematic at peak hours. (I think they can usually only park about 9 cars total.)

This little cafe is ideal for a lunch with a couple friends or just by yourself. The staff are always supremely kind and are quick to accommodate any way they can. Food is delicious from what Ive tried so far, but the tuna melt is so good I havent been able to bring myself to branch out and try many other things. Rarely if it ever busy enough that you cant find quiet seating indoor or outdoor.

Hot chocolate is available in lots of fancy flavors but the dark chocolate is perfect without any fuss. Came in on a cold day and it would have been nice if the place itself was a little cozy feeling. More of a sandwich shop rather than coffeehouse feel but with a nice variety of dessert and sandwich/soup options. They even serve wine and martinis.

Amazing place. They have a chocolate cake martini to die for. I have had the lobster bisque and the turkey salad combo both were fresh and filing. The workers were friendly and the food comes out promptly. I highly recommend this stop for anyone who loves chocolate! Happy hour is from 4-7 and is well worth stopping in early!

[Visit #1: 6/2/2012] Great selection of food, nice and spacey atmosphere, very friendly staff. I only had a tuna melt w/ cheddar sandwich with chips. It was delicious. They have many "sweets" to choose from here. Cant wait to come back and try some more.

This is a great place for healthy and beautiful vegan food. You can get breakfast here on Sundays, including vegan waffles! Portias is closed on Mondays. The menu here is wonderfully varied and the vegetables are very fresh. I recommend Portias quite highly!

On Fridays they have an all-you-can-eat chocolate fondu that is delicious. It is a fun place to go on a double date or with a bunch of friends. In addition to the chocolate, they also have a great Reuben sandwich and dessert themed martinis :)
