Genesis Diamonds Cincinnati started out well. I got my fiancees engagement ring and wedding band together for about $10K, and I thought everything about the store was great at the time. A few months later, I went back to order my wedding band. I ordered my band, and had it put on layaway with a $160 deposit. After ordering the band, I found a similar band at another jeweler for nearly 75% less cost. I cancelled my order with Genesis, and asked if I could get my deposit back in the form of a store credit. I wasnt asking to get cash back, just store credit so I could buy something else for my fiancee. Genesis would not let me do that; instead they told me that by cancelling this order I forfeited my deposit due to the fact that they had to order the ring since they did not have my size at the store, and they would be stuck with the ring. I did not order this ring as a special order, and I did not customize the ring, so Genesis could easily sell it to a future customer that had the same ring size as me, and they probably did just that. Or since it was never picked up/used, they probably could send it back to where they ordered it from. I just find it hard to believe that the store could not offer me any sort of store credit. It baffles me that they just took my $160 deposit, especially after I had already spent $10k with them. In the grand scheme of things, $160 is not that much money, but it is about the principal. To me that shows that Genesis Diamonds Cincinnati is all about the money (which I know businesses have to be to a point), and they dont truly care about their customers, which could be customers for life. They did not take into consideration that I spent 10K with them earlier, and was looking for a credit to spend more with them in the future. Its not a smart business move on Genesis Diamonds Cincinnatis end . In the grand scheme of things, a $160 credit is nothing to a store like this, and it would not have cost them anything. In fact, it would have given them additional money, as I would have more than likely purchased something more than that amount. Instead they get to keep my deposit, and lost my business from here on out. I will not shop there again, and will not refer this place to anyone.

I wish we had started my engagement ring shopping at Genesis. We went to Jared, Tiffanys, every store in the mall and few others, only to leave disappointed and discouraged. We were told what I wanted could be made or ordered in. I was told the diamond size and quality could be ordered in within a few days. Some stores just tried to push me into changing my mind. I was very disappointed in the selection and quality most stores had available. I was about to settle when I heard a commercial for Genesis. I almost didnt go because I assumed we wouldnt be able to afford anything there. When my fiancé and I walked into the store We were in shock at the variety Genesis had to offer. They really had something for everyone at every price range. We were helped by Ashwin who made me feel like what I wanted was important. I never once felt like he was trying to say or do whatever it took to get me to commit to just anything. He really listened to what I wanted and made me feel valued and appreciated. The ring I had searched for in every other store was there and when I saw the price I asked "how much for the diamond? This is the price for just the mounting right?" However to my delighted surprise, the price included the center diamond. So many stores that I shopped at marked up their prices to make the 50-60% discount they were offering seem like I was getting a good deal. It was so refreshing to just get honest prices and not have to play "lets make a deal" Genesis had what I wanted at a price that was better than any other stores 50-60% off offer. The variety, the quality, the service at Genesis cant be matched. I highly recommend that you make Genesis your first stop when shopping for an engagement ring or any jewelry for that matter. I guarantee they will have what you want at a price you can afford. I promise you wont need to look any further. Save yourself from someone trying to sell you something you dont want at an overly inflated price, go see Ashwin and you will find the perfect ring....I know I found the ring of my dreams.

Update: Someone from Genesis Diamonds is looking into my LinkedIn account. Its a little unsettling to be researched instead of directly responded to. Day 1: I had just begun engagement ring shopping and spoke to three salesmen between my two visits. I was offered coffee and water as I entered and accepted the water. Nice touch. Unfortunately, the first salesman pair pressured me to consider diamonds other than what I asked for and to disclose my budget immediately. This isnt a surprise, but I declined to offer up my budget and lose my bargaining leverage. One brought out the most flawed VS1 clarity (GIA, mind you) diamond Ive seen in all of my shopping so far while the other asked me a familiar variety of personal questions after I declined to fill out their info form. This may not be be a reflection on all of their inventory or salesmen, but it was discouraging. I immediately saw SI1 clarity diamonds at the next store I visited that with far less inclusions. Since they claimed to have the lowest diamond prices I decided I might return if I could talk to someone else even though nothing had wowed me. I did a week later. Day 2: After seeing prices elsewhere I returned to the store to see if they really had the lowest. This salesman, claiming to have previously worked for GIA, dodged questions regarding the quality of a diamonds dimensions. In all fairness, this could have been a lack of knowledge or dishonesty, but having "worked for GIA" makes me lean toward the latter. I felt like I was shopping for a car when they left to phone a regional manager for a diamond price and came back to tell me that they had "really cut the price down" to get me a good deal. I promptly got up and left and wont return. TL;DR: Free water or coffee is nice. Lots of diamonds on hand. The three salesmen I met were greasy. Diamonds didnt measure up to similar rated at another store (note that this is subjective)..

I started my search for the perfect engagement ring knowing that it would be an uphill battle due to the extremely unique design that I wanted for my fiances ring. When I called in to Genesis Diamonds to inquire about their capability to create custom rings, David took my call and confirmed that they could do custom work, but seemed confident that I would be able to find something in their show room that would suit my tastes. After walking in to the store, I could understand where that confidence came from. Unfortunately, with the specific and unique nature of my request, it was clear that no ring in any store was going to satisfy me and a custom order would be necessary. After realizing this, instead of trying to push me in to a cookie cutter mold, David embraced the challenge and took the time to discuss with me the design I was looking for. He offered his expert opinion on benefits and draw backs to various characteristics that I, as a consumer, was unable to fully conceptualize. After shopping around at a few other stores, as anyone making a large purchase would, I realized that Genesis Diamonds was going to be only place I trusted to make the ring suited to my vision. David once again sat down with me and we were able to create a design that both fulfilled my desires as well as made the best use of the ring and stones. Once digital designs were created, we held further phone conversations to ensure that the final design still held within the expectations. A short time later, I held a ring in my hand that looked as though it was plucked from my very imagination. My now fiance loves the ring and continuously receives compliments on the beauty and unique nature of her ring
