I dont even know where to start....June 9th I took my 3 yr old 8lb PomChi in for a routine bath, hair cut and nails trim, things went so wrong! I took him at his time to find out that our regular groomer was no longer there and the young girl promised me she was a professional. I told her just bath trim and nails. She said he would do great with her. She then told me she was a professional again. 25 minutes into his appointment I received a call from her saying "ms Miller you need to come get Gino because he bobbed and I weaved and he got nicked. He is bleeding and should see his vet" I was there within minutes. Gino wasnt just nicked. He was gushing blood so much I had to ask for a towel. As I was leaving for his vet the groomer said to me "we will not be charging you for the groom since we didnt finish. I couldnt believe she even thought I was paying her 1cent. Got to the vet and dr told me it was so bad that they needed to sedated him and put some staples in. 2 hr later I got to pick up my dog who now was in the cone of shame due to the 8 staples he had gotten to close up his wound. Petco did pay for my vet bill but would not pay for my day of work I had to lose due to the actions of the groomer. The store manager was so rude to me and would never call me back. I called corporate and they asked for the before and after pics I sent it as asked. Never did I get a response. Now it has been over a month and I could not get my 180$ I lost from missing work. I called the store for the 100th time and talked to the assistant manager and told her I just would sue for my money and ask for more. At that time I got a call back. They said they will send me my missed wages and a gift card for my inconvenience. About 2weeks after that I received my check but not gift card. I emailed them about that and was told he thought it was mailed out. Now remember this has been going on since June 9 its now almost August and 5 emails later still no gift card. At this point its all a joke. The lies, no return calls and email is ridiculous. I give up!! Im just glad my pet is better now. I cant even blame the store alone because corporate office was just as negligent. Because of this I will never use ANY Petco for ANYTHING ever.

Worst dog grooming service Ive ever experienced. Worst customer servive Ive ever experienced. First time it was ok but then it was all downhill from there. Once my dog came back from a full groom w/his face unwashed & I paid over $50 for my small 11lb dog. Another time my dogs full groom hair cut was cut really funky and nails barely trimmed. Family and friends kept asking, what happened to her (my dog, because the hair cut was really that bad, choppy and uneven). I couldve done a better job. On last attempt, dog groomer was a no show and grooming reception, Kirsten, was blatantly rude for no reason. Its obvious this person is I guess just miserable - not really sure what the deal was there. When I talked to Mgr about choppy haircut and her nails barely trimmed, the Mgr just blamed it on the fact that she said she hired all their groomers from Petsmart. Poor attempt at shooting down their biggest competitor. Ive only heard good things about Petsmart from others. I guess Petcos strategic attempt for business is putting down their staff, overworking them w/very low pay and ultimately handing customers off to their competitors. Whoever is running the show is an absolute moron. The rest of the staff in store aside from groomers seemed nice enough but after these experiences, Ill obviously never go back again. These are simply not good people in the grooming dept and are rude. Ill be taking my business elsewhere...like maybe Petsmart.

A fish in this store was injured and had a fungus on it. My daughter, who is capable of handling this fish, offered to buy it and waive the guarantee so that it could be treated. Evidently, all of the tanks are on the same filtration system so the fish could not be treated without treating all the fish. That leads me to believe that if one fish is sick or diseased that all the fish in the store would be exposed to it. My daughter was told no, that she could not purchase the fish and they would not give any reason. Word got out about this situation and this store had numerous complaints regarding this situation and the response of the district manager and the store manager was to kill the fish (the district manager told her that the fish was euthanized) so that the social media firestorm would go away. The manager is rude and condescending. Do not shop at this store! They are a disgrace and should not be allowed to continue the poor treatment of the animals in their care.

I went by the Cary Petco around 1:00 PM on a Saturday hoping to get another hermit crab. There was some sort of dog event in the center of the store with about five puppies that people were petting, playing with, etc.. I ran into a sales associate almost immediately and she helped me find suction cups to hang some decorations in my terrarium and then to get a hermit crab. The store had crabs with natural shells which was great (the process of putting crabs into a decorated shell can stress them out and make them less likely to survive). They only had a few crabs, all of which were small, but the tank was clean and the crabs had all of their legs, were moving around, and seemed healthy. They made sure to put substrate (sand) in the bottom of the box for my crab to rest on and then checked with me to make sure I had food, the appropriate set up, etc. at home.

Just a month ago I decided to visit the Petco in Cary Crossroads. I was surprised how clean the store was, and there was even an employee at the front of the store greeting customers. There is a "treat bar" where you can fill up a 1 pound bag with a variety of treats for a little over 3 dollars. My dog Zoe is now addicted to the human-tasting cookies and heart shaped liver treats. The prices are very fair, and like competitors, they offer a rewards card to redeem special discounts on food and other pet products. Today I brought my dog Zoe in to get groomed by salon manager, Michael. He did a fabulous job! After a few bad haircuts by other groomers in the area, Zoe surprisingly left happy and didnt seem to be stressed at all. He finished a full grooming in only 4 hours. He listened to exactly what I wanted and saw my requests through.

Found a small lizard in my apartment, caught it and took it to PetCo. The staffperson was able to quickly identify it (a green anole), and helped me pick out some basic supplies to care for it. He was extremely knowledgeable and also provided me with some written literature on pet care. He helped me focus on what things I practically needed to get a basic set up to take good care of the anole, and let me know what things would be extras to consider purchasing later, so I didnt feel like I was being pressured into spending lots of money. Definitely planning on using this location to purchase food and other supplies in the future.
