I had the most disturbing experience last night (3/4/17) at the Harris Teeter, 2080 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary, NC; store 257. The night manager Allen McGowan, basically called me a liar, because when I returned a package of Organic Edamame that was out dated by two years (06/10/15 ), he said that it was impossible for any employee (management) in the store to have overlooked the expiration dates in the organic section; that management inspects the dates. He said that customers in the past, have kept items in their freezer for years, and then brought them back with switched expiration labels, so that they could obtain a newer item. This was not only an insult, because I have, over a period of 6 years, spent thousands of dollars at multiple Harris Teeter stores, it was unprofessional and accusatory. He is not the representative of Harris Teeter that I am accustomed to. This is what happened yesterday 3/4/17. I purchased the Organic Edamame, with other items for a meal I was going to cook. The broccoli was already boiling, and as I was about to drop in the Edamame, I remembered that I didnt check the expiration date, which is routine when I shop. When I checked it, I was flawed. 06/10/15? No way! Not Harris Teeter! I managed to find other ingredients for dinner, and when I finished dinner, I called Harris Teeter to speak with the manager. I told the manager that I purchased this item and that the expiration date was 6/10/15. He said he would refund me. When I arrived, he asked if I wanted another one, since the others had up to date expiration labels. I was apprehensive. Then he mentioned that it was impossible for anyone in the store to have overlooked the item, and that previous customers have kept items in their freezer for years and then brought them back with switched expiration labels, to replace for a new item. He was adamant that no employee in his store could have overlooked this item during their inspection; "not for two years". So I asked him, if no one overlooked the item in the store, are you saying that I switched the label to get a new item (I did not get a new one)? He would not say it outright, but he was clear that it was not the fault of anyone at Harris Teeter. "Impossible" he said. This is the first time I had experienced a manager in Harris Teeter this unprofessional and disrespectful to a customer. Just refund me and apologize on behalf of Harris Teeter. Simple! Instead, he decided to turn the tables and blame the customer without any proof or reasonable suspicion. I neglected to ask him how did he know that others have switched expiration labels to get new items, or is this overlooking expiration dates a regular thing that happens on his watch. The expiration date was overlooked and he should have just accepted that. I will not be returning to this Harris Teeter. All of my experiences are good ones at the other stores. This is the first dispute Ive experienced at any Harris Teeter. Usually management is cordial, respectful and helpful. Please inspect all expiration dates when you shop there. Just imagine if I had eaten it.

Excellent wine selection at this location. Except for very high end stuff, whatever you are looking for is probably here. They regularly run a 20 % off case special and they do that in combination with further discounts on lots of top wines. Its easy to save 25% or more on great wine if you go during one of the case price sales. The store itself is the best of the local Harris Teeter locations. It is huge and though I would never normally dine at a grocery store, the food here is amazingly fresh and well prepared. Since they are across the street from Whole Foods, they seem to want to be a healthy food alternative at a lower cost. The seafood from this location is often an excellent deal, and they are happy to let you know the origin of the fish and what is wild caught.

I came in for bacon like I normally do 2/3 times a week and this morning my bacon wouldnt weigh on the scale. Instead of the cashier trying to fix the problem she said I cant weigh it. She already had an attitude about so I said Im not going to purchase more food for it to weigh. I came back to ask if there was a certain weight limit on the amt of food you get ? She said it wouldnt weigh it was unrecognizable I cant ring it up. Since when Harris Teeter require you to purchase more food to be able to pay??? Needless to say I left with no food and very insatisfied.

I do a lot of my grocery shopping at this location and have no problem returning each week. Every employee that I have encountered has been beyond friendly, offering a smile and any help if needed. The cashiers do a great job of bagging and helping the checkout process to be smooth and easy. I have found that there is a great selection of items, but not to the point that it is over powering. Keep up the great work!

I dont shop at Harris Teeter often since I find the prices for the "healthier foods" more expensive than the other grocery stores. Some of these items are even more pricier then Whole Foods. But I will say that they have a great sushi selection. If they dont have what I want out, the chef always makes it for me on the spot. They also have a great selection of healthy drinks like kombucha.

Very nice store ! Come out and see me for "WINE DOWN" wine sampling for well deserved customers ... LOVE NOIR AND BENZINGER ...from The Wine Group! Take four bottles of the six featured wines and get 20percent off! Dont forget HT 20 percent off a case of wine all weekend. Thank you to all of your help in teaching me about wine,

This is the BEST Harris Teeter in Apex/Cary. Ive never had bad service. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. There are 2 locations closer to our apartment, but my husband and I drive to this one for the quality produce selection, amazing wine aisle, and mostly the great cashiers!
