Seems odd that I wouldnt have reviewed my favorite ice cream place yet, but thats probably because I always go to the other location. This one is the original (although not in its original location), and its still as great as ever. The menu here has spoiled me to the point that I cant help but laugh when some other place touts their "crazy" flavors like egg nog. The Hop is putting kale in their ice cream. Tame and experimental ice cream flavors in a large, kid-friendly relaxed area. The Hop sponsors many family events from doing art to musical groups and charity events. There is almost always something fun going on and an ever-changing art on the walls. Favorite flavors: Aztec Chocolate, Sweet Potato (for the kids), Chocolate Candied Bacon and some vegan flavors that are just as good as the cream-laden ones. Tell em Zen sent ya!

They have a huge selection of... * gluten free * vegan * dairy free Home made ice cream. Menu changes almost daily. Some of the most unique ice cream Ive ever had...and Ive eaten all kinds, from the West coast to the east coast. If youre in Asheville this is a must stop snack you have to try...dont be afraid to get out of the box, Ive never been dissatisfied with any of the flavors I have tried.

I ordered some ice cream for a dinner I was catering and they were extremely accommodating to my order! They had it ready in 72 hours! I was able to get exactly what I wanted and everyone enjoyed the DELICIOUS ice cream - including a few of my guests who were allergic to dairy, who had the vegan vanilla! Best ice cream in Asheville! (Also, their birthday cake ice cream is perfection!)

I used the Hop for our wedding in lieu of cake and it was awesome! We got married in July- too hot for cake! They were some accommodating to all of our custom flavor changes, and even let us sample some for free before the wedding to help us choose. It was totally affordable and really fun for our guests. We loved the wedding photos with everyone holding their ice cream cones!

The Hop has amazing flavored ice cream that you cant get anywhere else. From salted caramel, Aztec chocolate, kale, sweet potato and many more...The Hop is always trying something new. Ask about their vegan options for ice cream as well. They also do ice cream cakes and coffee as well. The place can get crazy at times and service is spotty but the ice cream is worth it!

AMAZING ICE CREAM and SERVICE! I have had food allergies for years. They serve ice cream with almond, coconut, rice milk, and banana bases to offer a variety, in addition to regular dairy ice cream. They even serve gluten free cones. The Hop went above and beyond to serve me. I am so grateful to have a place where the entire family can go for a treat. THANK YOU!

5 stars all the way. This is some of the best ice cream Ive ever had the pleasure of eating and theyre always coming out with something new and interesting. Im always impressed that theyre able to serve great vegan ice cream as well. Many times those sorts of shops cant keep up the quality. They use local ingredients as well, which is awesome.

Some of the best ice cream in town! Good prices, and occasionally they will come up with some pretty cool flavors (Votex Donuts Ring of Fire apricot habeñero was my all time favorite). And they accept the GO LOCAL card for a 10% discount, which is always awesome. And if non-dairy is your jive, their selection cant be beat!

Ice cream was good . We went for the vegan offerings which were numerous butwere a bit disappointed with the flavor. Didnt taste like much of anything. We sampled nearly all to try to find one, and hands down the orange creamsicle was the best. Always a treat to have vegan options nonetheless, and it was a nice treat .

Delicious!!!! I had the almond butter choc brownie ice cream at their booth set up at an art festival. Hadnt had ice cream in so long since I no longer consume dairy - this really hit the spot! I just need to find the shop and get a milkshake! Only thing is a bit pricey, but thats to be expected, I guess.

What an excellent Ice Cream shop. I was late ordering my sons ice cream cake for his bday. Walked in on Friday afternoon and was able to pick it up Saturday. Great customer service and good pricing. PLUS the ice cream cake was delicious. Thanks for helping me out.

I also meet with my mommies group at this location and its wonderful. Theres a whole play area for the kids to occupy themselves while we talk, drink coffee, and eat ice cream :). Plus they have vegan options which is SO nice!

Love this place! Both locations are great but this one has more space and therefore a larger selection. They have a variety of dairy free ice cream too! Made with coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk, rice milk, etc.

Been a while since I went here (4 years?) But was pleased with the shake and the relatively low prices. The college kids that work there are really pleasant and give you faith in humanity having a chance after all.

The Hop has great homemade ice cream in unique flavors. They also carry a nice selection of gluten free, dairy free, soy free and nut free flavors. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly.
