Actually I don’t care what time of the year it is, I always love ice cream, but summertime means that Two Spoons is open later so it’s easier for me to get there. Our first encounter when they opened last year made me a fan upon my entrance. The smell of waffle cones greeted me, and my mouth started watering. I don’t remember what I ordered on the first visit, but on a recent visit I did Cup of Joe and a chocolate flavor (I believe the KMA). My husband ordered Strawberry and Ginger; my next visit I’m going to deviate from my normal chocolate requisite and order Chai and Ginger. Two Spoons uses Ultimate Ice Cream, and the flavors are so spot on. The Ginger was so fresh and clean without being too sweet or spicy, and my Cup of Joe hit my coffee craving right on the head. As stated previously though, the killer is the homemade waffle cone; I haven’t ever enjoyed waffle cones before so I don’t have a peer to compare Two Spoon’s version but just a whiff will be all the persuasion you should need. At this time, I haven’t tried any other than scoops and cones, but they also have sundaes and several toppings for build your own gluttony. Before you smother the ice cream try it plain; ultimate is an appropriate title. In fact, I’m so spoiled with Ultimate Ice Cream that I don’t even like Breyer’s anymore. There is a little atrium out back, and the interior has plenty of kid friendly chalkboard painted walls. Parking is on the street, but the neighbors aren’t that busy so it isn’t a problem. The hours run from 1 to 9, I think for summertime, but a call might be the best bet.

I hate waffle cones; I have never found one anywhere that was tasty and a complement to my ice cream. Then one day we visited Two Spoons, and I was hit by the smell of freshly baked waffle cones. Tainted by my history with inferior cones, I got my two scoops in a compostable cup (unfortunately, I cannot recall what flavors I tried). My husband, however, took the bait, and since it was right across from me I took a bite. I was amazed, and I look forward to returning for a cone. They use Ultimate Ice Cream so you know its good. We went later in the evening, but the place looks great for kids. They have painted the lower half of the walls in the dining area with chalkboard paint, and they have a small atrium in the back. Now that the summer hours are back in effect, we have a Two Spoons habit, and I cannot even really enjoy Breyers ice cream any longer.

Greg and Ashley (the owners) were absolutely incredible helping put together a flair at our wedding reception that was one of the big hits with our guests. In addition, the staff The Hop brought to our event was incredibly kind and gracious. The ice cream (turned milkshake) was great and there was definitely service with a smile! I had family members that I know went back more than 5 times! Cant say enough great things about working with them. They are a great small business and the milkshakes were delicious. We recommend them wholeheartedly and look forward to visiting the store again as soon as we are back in the area.

The Hop West is the West Asheville arm of the regular The Hop on Merrimon and its all the same friendliness and flavors packed into a smaller package. While theres not streetside seating, there is an enclosed private patio out back that is perfect for summer nights and quiet conversation. The flavors range from standard chocolate to wild cranberry gargonzola and include splenda and vegan varieties. Im always impressed with the selection and the downright sweetness of the staff. While youre there, check out the many FREE events they have there from sing-a-longs to book reading and balloon animal creators.

The ice cream was good. Personally, I had the strawberry / basil. Everyone in my family commented on how much you could taste the basil, and thats exactly what I was looking for. But I think we were all looking for more unusual flavors like that. My wife and I, veterans of Jennis Ice Cream in Ohio, are used to seeing these types of unusual flavor combinations. Perhaps the real problem was a matter of expectation. I was expecting more of a Jennis Ice Cream experience, and what I got was a really great bowl of ice cream.

LOVE the Hops rich and creamy ice cream! They have an experimental approach to this art with plenty of new and creative flavors to try. They also offer a range of vegan and lactose-free options, including a delicious coconut whipped cream. Not sure? Have a free sample! Or, go to the creamery just down the road on Friday nights for special tastings and collaborative creations featuring ingredients from other local businesses.

Ok how do you rate an original. Locally made, unique flavors make this a must try. I had the strawberry, basil, almond milk. It was remarkable. They let me taste several-- Cardamom banana cream, Beet, Toasted Coconut. All of them are delicious. Go to this place for unique frozen treats. Friendly service as well.

The Hop is a local ice cream chain. They typically have a variety of ice cream flavors including gluten free and vegan options. My personal favorite, and their most popular, is the Salted Carmel. If youre looking for a delicious or unique flavor, though often they arent mutually exclusive, give the hop a try.

Wait staff was nice/patient and had no trouble with us tasting several of the unusual flavors (kale/blueberry and basil blueberry) and vegan options made with cashew milk and other alternative milks. The chocolate and fresh mint option was really tasty. Highly recommended!

Its amazing what these guys come up with in terms of ice cream flavors. If you are looking for the classics go somewhere like Marble Slab but if you want exquisite and giant scoops upon scoops give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

I love their homemade ice-cream. The flavors change all the time, and there is always something great. The location is nice, and the ice-cream is even better. They even have some vegan options.

Best ice cream in Asheville. Tried salted caramel and chocolate. The super friendly staff allowed me to sample the lavander vanilla, Aztec chocolate, and coconut. They were all great!
