Im done with Diamond Brand!! I have purchased several pairs of hiking shoes for my children from both Frugal Backpacker and Diamond Brand. When I went to Diamond Brand this week to purchase Keens for my oldest, I was informed the 25% off Keens with trade in of previously purchased Keens from Diamond Brand no longer would be honored. I initially purchased the shoes because of this trade in program, but several months later, the program I was sold on is cancelled! If Diamond Brand cancelled the program, they at very least, should have honored previously purchased shoes. I took my children to GB shoes and found a much better selection of Keens and much better prices. I will get my family outdoor gear but never again from either Diamond Brand or Frugal Backpacker.

Diamond Brand is one of three excellent outdoor outfitters I know of in our area. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and their prices are competitive, which I find to be the case at our other outstanding outdoor stores as well. But they are way ahead of the others in the scope of their inventory, and they have their own line of tents, made right here in WNC, that are on a par with any of the better name brands you find in other stores. And, they have an outlet store right next door where you can find some great bargains in discontinued, overstocks, and minor blemish items. I like the other two stores all right, but Diamond is my go-to despite being rather far off my beaten path, and has been for more years than Ill admit to. Lets just say decades.

For a sport specific store the staff need to be more knowledgeable. The girl who works in the paddling department lied to me about a spray skirt saying that even though the skirt (Immersion Research J-Lo) is marketed mainly for class III whitewater, she had personally used it on class V and it help up. So I bought the skirt, but of course it leaked horribly on class IV, V whitewater. On the bright side, the owner was very sweet and let me return the skirt after I had used it and gave me store credit to purchase a new spray skirt. Not a bad store, but the employee should not pretend to know something about a sport that they are actually unfamiliar with. Honesty is the best policy!

I bought some Thule car racks here several years ago. I had some problems with them throughout the years and brought them in once to attempt to get some parts that had fallen off. I wasnt successful the first time but a year later I tried again and one of the managers, Bri(y)an realized I had the wrong "fit kit" for my model car. They completely replaced them at no cost to me. This inspired me to buy a new pair of hiking boots and drive the extra distance to support a local business now that its time for a different fit kit and a new paddle. I do not know where all the negative comments are from. My experience is that the entire staff is very knowledgeable about what they do. You might be able to find better prices on the web, but there are times when you need to see the item that you are buying. A picture alone does not cut it. They do have sales and I do take advantage of them as well. These guys know what they are talking about. Im willing to pay list or the same for good customer service, which is very hard to find these days.

Came in recently looking for some new pants for hiking. Had a very pleasant experience talking with Tom. He was very informative and helpful, had plenty of knowledge on the brands sold and was overall just a good guy to exchange stories with. I left with several new pairs of Kuhl pants and I really like them thanks to his recommendation.

This place beats REI hands down. Better service from a more knowledgeable staff, better prices, easier parking, and outlet store right there with it. They have a great line of stuff, and while I personally usually buy used or surplus when I want that new gear this is where I go.

They had a promotion for a freebie with any purchase and when we went not only did they not abide by the publicized promotion but the three different employees we spoke to were very unhelpful. Also you can find a lot of what they sell there much cheaper at other places.

Great local gear shop with real outdoor professionals! A great place for beginners to be properly outfitted for their next adventure, and a great place for the pros to find just what they need. You cant go wrong by shopping local with Diamond Brand Outdoors.

This is by far the best group of folks Ive found at any outdoor retail store. They always take time to make sure we have what we need to enjoy the outdoors to their fullest. I dont go anywhere else for hiking, camping, paddling, or outdoor clothing.
