I have been to a number of ranges and gun stores in the area also many in Fayetteville, NC and military ranges that were my responsibility. I checked out the Obetz Vances not long after it opened, I had been using Vances Cleveland Ave. for my weapons needs, when Vances Obetz opened I checked it out. I have not been disappointed. I try to hit the range at least once a week and working on my second membership. People are pleasant and good at their work I feel safe due to the vigilance of the range crew, one time during a personal training session, some puppy up range from me blasting merrily away at the wall of the range totally out of control but happy, range crew was on it. While I am not a great rule follower I find Vances range rules to be solid no BS information on how to work effectively without possible damage to anyone. I can concentrate on my training. Weapons separated from ammo, strict load points, positive control and no one gets hurt. Nice.. You sign or read the range information three or so times plus watch a complete range information video and still this guy brings in water or some drink , a large no no, plainly stated multiple times. Its interesting that this guy gives the range guy a bad review!! Really?? My favorite reviews are regarding price, hell I can shoot at Bubbas for twenty bucks a century and certainly a lovely day was had by all. The Obetz ranges are nice with great attention paid to the quality of the air we breath while in the range, convenience of the computer target control, cold, snow and raining like hell outside and us paying attention to our shooting inside. Lovely. Vances has helped a small group of disabled folks work out a way to enjoy the range and be educated in safety, Ray made the difference here and the range crew took it and ran. Meagan, Nattily, Zach, Dizzy, Terry and recently Cail. I know I have forgotten several names, sorry . Vances also has a wide variety of weapons courses with quality instruction. I also might add they are patient folks, fortunately for me. Dick Wheeler also from TDI runs well thought out and interesting courses from beginner to advanced.. The gun counters are usually busy with a good group working the counters. While it would be nice to be taken care of immediately, sometimes a little patience is necessary depending on customer volume. The gun counter guys stay with the customer until the customer is satisfied instead of jumping on the next before finishing with the first. Kind of like being angry with a waiter because he hasnt filled your half full glass of water and you look up from yourself to see he is running his butt off, same here. Obviously I like Vances, the ladies you meet at the door and the rest of the folks give a damn, no attitude and just outstanding people. Thanks LJ Corley

I had a great experience at both Vance Outdoors locations. I was worried about the crowd after reading reviews -- reports of long waits and a shady neighborhood. I came by after work on Friday 9/9/2016 and had no problems whatsoever. I had assumed wearing my "business attire" would leave me feeling uncomfortable in comparison to the other reported customers, but there were really people of all kinds in there and no one would feel alienated in the least. I was lucky and received help from Adam. He was beyond knowledgeable in all aspects of the process while looking at concealed carry guns and the accessories that come along with it. He went behind the counter to grab things for me, came out to the sales floor to show me things, and answered every single dumb question I had. I stopped by their shooting range the next day, figured out which one was best for me, and went straight back to the Cleveland Ave. location to make my purchase off of the information he gave me and what I shot afterwards. Scott took me through the purchasing process and was a great guy as well. Adam was even there, remembered me, and checked in on me a couple times while I was there to make sure everything was going well and offered to answer any additional questions I had though he also gave Scott all the credit in the world for being knowledgeable as well. It was an amazing experience and the atmosphere was just fine. Their prices and specials are the best around too. There is a special going on through the month that for less than the price of the gun only at other places, you received an extra mag, fifty HP bullets, and a small key-lock "safe" I will be keeping in the car. This review is so long its becoming a novel, but thats good enough. Excuse any typos and grammar mistakes -- Im off to the range with the free 1 hour pass to their shooting range they gave me.

Went in to see if they sold stripper clips for 5.56. Was informed by a sales associate they do not sell them. Understandable because most stores dont. The associate went to the manager to see if he knew of any stores that do. The manager only knew of online stores. I thanked them both for there time and informed them I will be checking a few other stores due to not fully trusting online stores. The manager told me I should get over not trusting them because that is where the best deals are. I do not appreciate being told what I should trust in any way, and see the manager as a representative of the company more so then the associates. So even though the sales person was great I highly doubt I will be shopping there any time soon. I attempted to contact Vances via email. They responded wanting me to call them. I informed them do to my work and hunting the best way to contact me is by email. I have not had any response. This store tries to seem as though they are willing to fix there problems. Dont believe it. If you have problems I suggest just not going to them in the first place. There are plenty of other good sporting good stores in Columbus. I personally am only going to Cabelas from now on. And just like I said, the managers represent the company more then anyone. If theyre a pain the rest will be too.

Possibly the worst gun shop you can go to in and anywhere near Columbus. Heres why; soon as you enter you have to run straight to the back and grab a number. Then wait an hour (the least), for your number to be called on before you get helped with anything in the store. They are also overpriced as hell and they do not match advertising lower prices from anywhere apparently, as I was instructed by the salesman. Want to shop at a place where they are unfriendly, unprofessional and will screw you over? Look no further, because HOLY GOD. Right when you walk in just look towards the register, green/blue short haired females with bones in there noses. Sweat shirts with kool aid stains and Vance outdoors on Cleveland Ave will not leave out one of the most important aspects of representing a company, RUDE. Even if you do not purchase a gun, they want your name and phone number. Wont bother even telling you why. They will respond with an attitude I can promise you that. Conclusion: If you are a logical thinker, a person that values their hard earned money, a person that enjoys a friendly atmosphere. You might want to consider anywhere else before coming here. All three of my experiences here have been nothing but sickening.
