My roommate heard about this place, and we decided rather spontaneously to check this tattoo shop out a few days ago. A cursory google search revealed that Fun City Tattoo is not only one of the oldest standing tattoo shops in the city, but it is also very highly rated among reviewers and tattoo publications. I walked in on a Thursday afternoon without an appointment, and the shop was spotless yet casual. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful in pairing me up with the most appropriate tattoo artist for the design I had in mind - Lorenzo. Within a few minutes, I was seated in a chair and getting prepped for my first tattoo! I found Lorenzo to be very calm, confident, and friendly. More importantly, I noticed that Lorenzo and the other artists at Fun City were extremely diligent about cleanliness and safety. Everything was sterilized before use, and all artists are expected to wear gloves throughout the entire process (see picture). Lorenzo, as an artist, is extremely talented especially with symmetric designs involving sharp lines & geometric shapes. He also has a gentler, but still extremely precise touch with the needle. I am extremely satisfied with how the tattoo has turned out, and the quality of work is definitely worth the higher price. I plan on coming back here again for another tattoo soon! DISCLAIMER: As in most tattoo shops, Fun City Tattoo only accepts cash, and they do not accept credit or debit cards.

This was my 2nd tattoo; the first I received in Mexico City and while it isnt bad I did lose some ink and determined Id do a better job seeking out a good studio. I was visiting in NYC and determined with my friend that we wanted to spontaneously go get inked. We were in the Village and saw they had high reviews, called to make an appointment, and was told that it was a slow day and to just come in. Indeed they started working with us immediately and our artist Simone promptly got to making our stencils. My friend went first and then I followed a few minutes later. All in all we were in and out the door in about 1.5 hrs. I can tell this new tattoo will have a richer deeper black and am impressed of the detail he captured (I got a tree with branches and leaves about the size of a drink coaster) for a small sized piece. I would definitely go back!! 140 plus tip seemed reasonable. My only annoyance is the cash-only policy. This of course is a problem all over NYC but when your shop has a 100 minimum (pretty standard from what I understand) and one could really be paying hundreds for new ink it just seems like bad service to send customers out to the corner ATM to make 1, 2, or even 3 withdraws to pay up.

couldnt have asked for a better place to get my first tattoo! i have been wanting on for a while, and i went at like 10 at night and he took me right away. i had sean do mine and he made me feel at ease. like i asked if it would hurt, and he said, "is it your first time?" i was like yea. then he was like "then hell no". hahahah that put me in a good mood got one about 4 inches by 1 inch and it only took about 20 minutes. he literally walked me through every step, checking if i was okay and keeping me calm. he kept telling me to breathe cuz i was holding my breathe so i wouldnt move. it was perfect! he was really good at paying attention to detail. everything was so precise. big recomendation. other places charge 80 min not including tip! i only paid 60 :) !

I just recently got my first piece done at fun city. I called and made an appointment with Big Steve and went in a few days later. When I got there, he was finishing up with a previous client (BEAUTIFUL full back piece) so I sat down and took a waited a few minutes. The staff was great and I was really comfortable. I gave Steve a drawing I had been working on and within minutes he perfected it and had it ready to go. He was very accommodating and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. They even got another artists chair for my girlfriend to sit in back and hang around with me while she waited. Steve took his time letting me know what to do as far as after care and I was out with an amazing new tattoo in about an hour. Ill be back for sure.

I forget the artists name but he was great. The shop was a little small so when I walked in I wasnt so sure but after seeing how insanley clean it was and how professional the artists were, I knew i was in good hands. The artist did a great job, I had picassos dove with flowers done on the lower right part of my back and it looked exactly like the painting. The artist was very professional, the first few pictures I showered him were of the tattoo done on other peoples bodies and he went out of his way to make sure it wasnt another tattoo artists origional design before he copied it. I will definitley go back for all future tattoos

Had my first tattoo done there earlier this week, and the lovely girl behind the desk helped me decide/make a sketch of my Liverpool tattoo. She was very talented, patient and extremely precise. Always had a smile on her face also, and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. The atmosphere in Fun City Tattoo was great, and all the artists were friendly and helpful. Love my new tattoo, and would give this place my highest recommendation as they were superb. Also would like to thank the wonderful girl that made my new tattoo, and let her know that I am very pleased with the result. Krister Norway

I thought Fun City Tattoo was awesome. Great atmosphere, really chill but not overwhelming like some tattoo shops Ive been at. I was a walk-in, but I did call ahead to make sure there were openings. I brought in reference material for what I wanted and Mina redrew it, and I love my new tattoo. She was really focused on the tattoo but was also efficient, and my tattoo didnt take much time at all. I would highly recommend this place and I would come back. $100 shop minimum, they do accept credit cards.

Too pricy and bad service. A tattoo is something that is long term... So it is important to feel like you made the right choice. For these guys..they made me feel like its the same as giving me a bad haircut. Also very expensive and only cash...so you have to go to nearby ATM. Why not tell that befor you start?? Just another example of bad service. I will correct my tattoo somewhere else.

I got one of my first tattoos here. Lorenzo did such a good job on my detail. He made sure I was happy and that he gave me exactly what I wanted. His team are a group of funny guys and you can clearly see that they all take pride in their work and love their job. Its a cool and calm environment. Ill definitely be back.
