I was excited to get a jammer tattoo from Three Kings, cause Gothamist and many other publications say this is the best tattoo studio in NY. And some of the artist work is amazing. My girlfriend and I went in on May 4th to both get a small light saber jammer. When the shop girl told me it was gonna be $150, i was baffled. Ive been tattooed at Smith Street Tattoo, Sacred Tattoo, Magic Cobra, Green Point Tattoo and Love and Hate in AZ. I got a jammer at Smith street from Steve Boltz that was $50! Three kings wanting $150 for a tattoo that takes 10 minutes is mind blowing! Im not a "bargain hunter" as i have 75% of my body covered by really good artist. So I went through with it. Our tattoo was done by a girl name Billy who was so nervous you would imagine it was her first time tattooing. Weve been in tattoo studios since back when it was still illegal in NYC and this artist sounded like shes only just entered the field. I get that everyone has to learn but where was her teacher?! Why was she allowed to tattoo in an empty shop unsupervised? The tattoos arent that bad for an apprentice, but they are not good. A good tattoo isnt cheap but these expensive tattoos are not good. $150 for 10 minutes is highway robbery!

Gotta say ... I have a feeling Rachel overshot Three Kings and ended up getting tattooed by a drunken Hipster crawling out of Enids. Having gone there repeatedly hours at a time for a large piece, I have never heard any patrons complain, all other reviews are aces, and their artists portfolios are right there for perusal. My work while still being completed got me groped, touched, and questioned all summer long in McCarren Park, especially Saturday mornings in the Greenmarket. **As an aside? Respect personal space people. Seriously. I came close to hitting some of you the past few months** Dont hesitate going there. Everyones work is gorgeous, theres an artist for every style of work you might want done, and you walk away not with a tattoo, but a work of art. Im partial to Annie who rocked my socks **& my back** but look forward to getting inked by a couple other sweet peeps there as well.

James needs a huge attitude adjustment! Went to Three Kings because of the reviews and not only was the work an easy job that somehow got fudged up but the WHOLE experience with James was miserable. Girl at the front was nice but aside from that, New York is too full of tattoo places to go here. He was unappreciative of the business before we even got started and was unprofessional in every aspect. BEWARE they do not open clean utensils in front of you they set up first and call you back. I hope his attitude for no reason was worth a bad rating because I dont ever review places but have to let people know its not all its cracked up to be. Also its cash only and they dont give you a receipt. I hope whoever owns it knows they are pocketing cash, and I really hope for business sake its not James that is the owner.

Hubby and I were in NYC for our anniversary and wanted to get our first tattoos. We booked with Three Kings ahead of time (we put down a deposit), based on Google and other online reviews. So glad we did. Keri was very responsive and friendly via email, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere in the shop as we waited (we were early). Josh did our work, and was gentle with us since we didnt know what we were in for. :) We were really happy with the results. They had 30 Rock playing while he worked, which helped take our minds off the process. Great people, very clean, awesome atmosphere--and talented artist. We might have to drive up to NYC when it comes time for more work...cant imagine going anywhere else now. Josh only accepts cash, so Hubs ran across the street to an ATM when our tattoos were done.

I really liked the service; the girls at the front desk were friendly and polite and were the reason I decided to get inked here, even though it was a little pricier than I thought my simple little outlines would be. As a walk-in I did not have to wait more than 10 minutes before James came to discuss my idea and we got on it. He was patient, flexible and helpful and did not get annoyed when I asked to change things back and forth. Finally, I got a tattoo that I am happy with, although I wish the lines where a little more accurately, but I am a perfectionist.

In NYC for a short trip and fancied getting myself another tattoo while here. Three Kings Tattoo were conveniently located near my hotel in Brooklyn and had come recommended when I had done some research. The artists and receptionist were very friendly and chatty and it was easy to get a slot, I only waited 15 mins. Loved my tattoo and the artist, Alex I think his name was, was great and chatted to me throughout keeping me occupied. Would highly recommend these guys and they were good value for money.

They would get higher stars but they were too expensive. The front desk lady was nice and approachable, but my tattoo artist was a little standoffish and cold. I would go to a cheaper place- its not worth the cost- I think I was gypped. (3x3 tat for $200? Its a little much) But no use crying over spilt milk. Take time to find a better place, get to know the artist that is going to put ink and energy into your body.

all the guys here are seriously talented... Josh is the man. Just got a piece done on my leg and it came out fantastic. Very clean, very friendly, very personable, able to make a change last minute if they need to. I asked him for suggestions and he was more than glad to give his input. I loved the experience and Josh is my tattoo guy forever now!

Absolutely love Three Kings Tattoo. I got my first tattoo and am still itching for another. I did my whole inner arm piece in a few hours by Tamara and she was fantastic. The entire staff there is great. The wait to get your work done is absolutely worth it as you are getting amazing ink by some of the best in the city.

I got a tattoo here once. The guy never asked me anything or talked to me while he was tattooing me. it was awkward and impersonal. My tattoo came out like a fat version of the drawing I asked him to make. I still laugh at it every time i see it, which is all the time cause its on my left wrist. HAHAHAHA.

Everyone was extremely nice but the artistry was subpar. I asked for a very simple design, a compass which honestly is mostly straight lines, and my lines are crooked. I cant wait until it heals so I can get them to fix it. Because if not, Ill have to cover it up.
