For my dogs Sweet 16, I wanted to get her a special cake. Over the weekend, I researched Brooklyn places that sold organic cakes & treats. They only offer the birthday cakes in one flavor & one size. Its made with peanut butter & carrot- two of my dogs favorite foods. In fact, she has fresh carrots with her dry food almost daily. I figured this would be a no-brainer. The Classic 4" cake will set you back about $25; according to the shopkeeper, this will feed about ten dogs. The Designer cake thats pre-customized with a design of either a squirrel, monkey, or princess motif, will be pricier, ~$32. She huffed and puffed, blew out her candle, and made a fluffy wish(OK, maybe we blew it for her). I proceeded to slice up the cake into smaller pieces since shes an old grandma. The cake was moist and seemed fresh based on the texture. I plopped it down hoping that shed feast like a beast. And.. she hates the cake. She doesnt like the scent nor taste. After some time, I plopped a piece of the yogurt layer into her mouth and she spit it out. Typically, this would have done the trick as she loves the yogurt parts of all the cakes/cupcakes I have purchased at other places. It has been several days now and she still refuses to touch it. NOT ONE BIT. Dropped the mic & walked away in true Diva fashion. Though most dogs may devour these cakes, yours could possibly be the one that doesnt like it. And the price is not considered cheap. I applaud them on their efforts to provide organic products, but if my dog wont touch it, it doesnt mean anything to me.

A great neighborhood pet store in Greenpoint. Cute store, great selection of quality pet food and litter. I wish there was more for cats aside from the great food collection - theres some cardboard scratching posts, some cute collars, litter boxes, a small selection of toys. But hey, its District Dog, after all, not District Cat! Its a great addition to the neighborhood. The staff is always friendly and helpful when I ask for recommendations, and they were nice enough to display flyers for neighborhood cats that I had rescued. Really nice people who care a lot about pets and also operate a rescue for area dogs and cats.

I dont visit this place, given just that its all about dogs, and not all for cats! The folks there are nice, Im told they are sweet the place is real clean, no s__t on the street! Boutique food, swarovski leashes! Like the cartoon cat said, I hate them to pieces! sarcastic dogs with fedoras, with their very own run For cats like me, no more fun!
