Called in today to get my dog groomed. It was laughable how unhelpful they were. I felt like I was being phone tapped. They asked about 50000 questions about my senior australian shepherd mix, why we were changing groomers, how she likes to be held, how can they can transport her onto the grooming table at the mention of slight arthritis, why type of coat she had, what her body type is, how often she salivates, how often she needs to potty, if shes spayed, last time groomed, SHOCKED that she was 10 and was switching groomers. I mean like, why is that any of your business? Shes not a violent dog. I expressed that my dog is quiet, polite and anxious. At the mention that my dog is slightly anxious, she opened a new line of questioning that was accusatory. It felt like an interrogation rather than a helpful line of questioning. The groomer on the phone was almost suspicious of why I was bringing my dog to petco or to a new groomer. I had to hang up, Ive never done that before. So unhelpful!!! Go to petsmart near the Garden State Plaza, theyll help you out just fine. In and out, gentle and easy going. You can even hang out and watch as they groom the dog.

I hope the Groomer has animal skills, because she certainly lacked people skills!! She stated, "You need to call and make an appointment", to have my dogs nails clipped, when a sign in the window says walk-ins welcome. Its a 5 minute procedure at most, and I was told it would be at least a hour. It was overly apparent she couldnt be bothered, and it seemed they were grossly understaffed (just her), and she wanted to make that point. I went to Teterboro, where they had 4 or 5 groomers and a cashier who cut my dogs nails, and I was in and out in 10 minutes. Its unfortunate, the former Groomers and staff in Paramus were great, the new staff or lack of it is certainly not recommended. Go elsewhere!!

Came for the Vetco event, rabies shot was $20- if you need heartworm prevention meds be sure to come with your recent exam or else theyre billing you unknowingly the $70 for the re-examination - if your dog is hyper active the vet/assistant have no time for that - and will only do basic things, website should be clear- any how my dog got nervous got loose from his harness and broke loose ran through the store- no staff helped- no one even turned off the front door (automatic) luckily we got him in time or my husky wouldve been roadkill on rt 17- staff here only cares about selling their stupid training services- assistance here is non existent,

Update Aug. 2017: I understand the grooming salon is busy, but to ask about my dog and then interrupting me mid-sentence to put me on hold is incredibly rude and isnt indicative of the kind of patient, courteous environment where I would want to leave my dog. Aug. 2016: Great selection at discounted prices, with helpful friendly staff. Alice and Rod (both are dog trainers) are especially knowledgeable and go above and beyond to help customers.

Extremely BAD Customer Service!!!!! I took my Maltese for grooming and Elaine the groomer could not take my dog because I was too early. I go to the manager and he says he cant do anything because Elaine is "busy". Couldnt they register my dog and put her in the cage like other petco stores have done. What customer service are this folks giving?????? I dont recommend this petco location at all!

bought ferret and she had ear mites. they did take her back and bring her to vet. so I bought two baby ones and they are infected to. they sell sick animals and sucks cause u get attached and its expensive animal to begin with being u need cage litter bedding food toys all kinds of vitamin and order supplements. at end of this I spent over 350 bucks for this disspointment.

They were very helpful with advice on supplies for my new puppy. I brought back a dog crate that we didnt end up using, didnt have the receipt, but they looked it up and took it back with no hassle. They also found some coupons for me since we have a petco loyalty account.great service, and a happy puppy!

Big store, well stocked. Employee at register was polite. When line got long, immediately call for more employees to open additional registers. A little difficult to pull into at times because the highway entrance ramp is right before the driveway.

The grooming department is awful. My dogs hair is uneven everywhere. I scheduled a simple schnauzer cut (short everywhere but the face, chest and legs) but I had her returned to me as an awkward boxer-looking dog with tufts of long hair everywhere.

The person at the fish station was mean and unhelpful did not help me at all. I recommend going to the one at 18 Teterboro Landing Dr, Teterboro, NJ 07608. They have much nicer people and are very helpful. if you can go to the one in Teterboro.
