This is my third deer that I have had chopped up in two years and this is my third butcher. I do not hunt but friends of mine give me deer and I try a different butcher each time to see which is better. I have not seen to much of a difference in the quality of the cuts of the meat. But this the first bad experience I have had. First of all, they do not want to have any contact other then paying and picking up the deer. They want you to drop the deer off when they arent around and if they are around they want you to just drag the deer around them working. Then you go in the ice box and read a sign that tells to you put different color tags on different parts of the deer depending on what kind of mount you want and how you want it chopped up as if everyone that goes there knows what it all means. They say they will text you when it is ready and the deer will be done in ten days no matter what. I never received a text message. I called on the tenth day and they would not look to see if it was ready and told me to wait for a text message. On the 13th day, I just drove there 25mins away.. They go in the freezer and they say they can not find it.. spend another ten mins looking for the tag I filled out to tell me that it is done. They go back in the freezer and they find one small box and say here is your 130lb dear. I asked is this the only box, " yes, boxed it myself". I get home dump it out to find out I am missing the sausage. Call them they put me on hold, ten mins later they find it. I drive another 25 mins each way and I pick it up. I paid 10 dollars extra to get it vac sealed and they vac sealed everything but the sausage (that I paid 30 extra dollars for) and they didnt even put it in casing.

I dropped off two deer in two years and got back all of my meat both times. They know there stuff there. One was a 130lb (dressed) buck and one was a 95lb (dressed) doe and I got back what looked like the correct amount from each deer. Good cuts and very little hair on meat.

Have dropped off at least 5 deer here over the last few years. Def recommend vacuum packing for the extra few bucks. Im gonna say they either waste some meat or keep a little but for the money no complaints.
