Overall this review is not about Ashley furniture products. I think the products for the price are actually decent. Ive spent about $13,000 across multiple stores in Idaho, Nevada and California and been very satisfied overall. However, this review is about my recent experiences at the Moana Reno location. A series of equally frustrating events have occurred over the last six months.... First, I went in to purchase a dining set. I was helped by a salesman who I will name, Ernie. I spent about an hour and a half searching and finally found one I liked. He said I could get it so I went a spent about 25 minutes filling out the paperwork. Finally, after all that when I was ready to pay for it they realized it was no longer available to order. That was very disappointing so I left and chalked up the experience to a poor salesman. Today, I called to order an additional piece to the bedroom set I purchased approx.8 months ago. I wasnt expecting to get it since it has been almost a year. When I called the store the person on the phone said yes it is available and I would be able to order. I was excited and asked if I could order it over the phone. She said no and that I would have to go to the store to order. I said fine as again, I was pretty excited that I could order this piece. So, I drove about 20 minutes to the store. I went to the customer service area where three people were behind the desk. None of them acted very professional. I then proceeded to tell them what I was doing there. They had to call a salesman, Doug, which is fine because I know they work on commission. Come to find out Doug had sold me the original bedroom set and was a very good guy to work with. He proceeded to get on the computer and found it was discontinued and I could not order. Needless to say I was very upset. I wasnt just upset because I drove all the way down there just to order this piece but also because I frankly couldnt get one to match. So we went back to the desk with the basically useless customer service people and no one could tell me who I spoke to as it was not in the computer notes. Come to find out if you call the store and they are too busy to answer the phone it goes to a central call desk in Arizona. Well apparently you need to document all phone calls because there was nothing I could do and of course no one to hold accountable. Honestly pretty typical in retail nowadays but still upsetting and frustrating. Upon leaving the store I called the same phone number Id called originally but of course now the store picked up and I was speaking to the same people Id just walked away from at the desk. Convenient right? Well I asked them to speak to the manager but he was apparently doing an interview. I asked them to have him call me. That was one hour ago and his name is Larry. I am still waiting on that call. My hopes are not high.

When we came in looking for a new couch, we were bombarded with excessive questions on what specific type of couch we wanted. When we told the lady we didnt know yet and wanted to browse the selection, she continued to push us. When we finally broke free, we looked at some new bed sets first to see if anything interested us and only a minute or two later the lady was back to push us on a bed we didnt even want. She left and we only moved a couple more feet before being interrupted again with a long winded talk about how we NEED to buy a bed today when we were looking for a couch and trying to even get to the couches. She wouldnt stop pushing us to get a bed and fill financing forms. Finally she left, saying she would be back in a couple minutes and we ran out the door. We tried again the next day, hoping it was a one time bad experience. The guy that "helped us" quietly followed us around the store, clicking his pen constantly and making me very uncomfortable like a rude, annoying shark. When he interrupted us to hold a very long winded conversation about sales and financing, I was done with the experience and had decided to finish looking around and leave as soon as possible. I will never come back and advise that people look elsewhere. I have found better deals on equally amazing furniture with far better customer service that actually helps you and allows you to browse in peace at other furniture stores. Look down the street or even in the same shopping center and youll find better.

I am giving Ashley furniture 3 stars because while the employees at the retail store are great, the warehouse and corporate customer service are not. Unfortunately the customer service hotline is where everything falls apart. Corporate if youre reading this, you need some sort of re-structure in this department ASAP. Julian, the floor manager in the retail store, is easy to talk to especially when we had an issue with one of our furniture pieces. He was quick to resolve the issue in no time and we left happy customers again. Now for the corporate and customer service side, I really hope nobody has to deal with calling their customer service line. Nearly two months of calling them, waiting on hold and them never returning our phone calls. Probably the WORST customer service department I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I was on hold for over an hour today when somebody picked up and hung up on me, talk about being pissed. Both my wife and I tried calling again and in an hours time we didnt have a chance to talk to anybody. Thats when we decided to go into the store and speak with Julian. They were able to see notes in the computer about our issue and took care of it on the spot. 5 starts for the retail store and 1 star to their horrible customer service department and warehouse. Thanks Julian!!!

Like a number of other reviews, the hawks (salespeople) at this place are insidious! When we finally spoke to one, he was a complete disaster (Richard Baldwin)-- completely distracted and inattentive. He barely noticed us at all and spent a majority of his time texting his previous customers! We purchased a "clearance sale" item (a couch), but after running a credit check and seeing I could afford substantially more, he immediately walked us into the very expensive "bedding department" and tried to get us to purchase more stuff! Finally, we needed a specific delivery date for a new couch. Not surprisingly, "Distracted Richard" entered the wrong date on the purchase order! Thankfully, we caught just as we were about to leave. Mr. Distracted-- still texting his previous customers, scribbled the correct date on the order, and promised us "he would update the system right away." Sure enough-- I called the next day, and the wrong delivery day was still in the system! Suffice to say, Ashley furniture has lost my business! What an awful experience! I sure hope we get our couch on the right date!
