First off let me say that people that get a tattoo and have a bad experience of course they are going to write a bad review and what not. Now with that said...If you want a relaxing and great experience in classic laid back setting with no intimidation, stare downs, ego trip and attitudes then go here. Jack "The Illustrated Man" did my tattoo. It was a very important tattoo that I got from him that was a serious devotion to my faith. The shop was very clean and sterile, The Receptionist was fantastic and she greeted me and with no hesitation engaged in conversation and helped me. I went in and got scheduled a couple hours later with Jack. He was very thorough and explained a better location for my tattoo and didnt just go with the flow and tagged it where I wanted it because it wouldnt of taken the ink at the location that I wanted to do it on in the first place. He is a very considerate Artist and has been doing this for a very long time since I believe he said since 1972. There was no hard core music playing to give you a headache and he had a lot of memorabilia to look at while getting work done from generations of life. Along with movies playing. To me, that is what I needed for the experience. It was a classic flat out awesome setting. His prices are more than fair and and does flat out awesome work! He did my tattoo and nailed it spot on! The ink took well and it turned out well..I dont have the words. Thank you Jack and thank to his Receptionist. Very nice and considerate and respectful. I am going to end this here but just know that I could go on writing good things about this shop. Like I said once again, It all depends on the person as to the environment they like but for me this was it!! Thank you much! Flat out.....I WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!

I went in on a Saturday to talk to them about having a tattoo covered or enhanced. Explained I didnt like anything about it, didnt like the colors, thought it looked flat and cartoonish. Talked to Stan. He said that he could do something with it, add some color, some shading to give it a more 3d look...and quoted me a price. He told me it would take him the better of a day to work on. I called him that day and said I wanted to make an appt. He set me up for the next week at 2:30. I showed up at 2:25 that day and he was still working on someone. Im good with that, dont mind waiting for him to finish up....but that he had someone else sitting waiting to get some work done...he stepped on my appointment which I really dont like. Kind of upset me. He didnt get started with me until 4:30 and worked on me til 8. Started to clean up the work, it looks nice, but he didnt do the shading like he said but charged me anyway what he quoted (high end of what he quoted). I asked him if he was going to do the shading, said he was done for the day, charged me, I paid him and left, didnt tip. Did the math...for the price per hour, I wouldnt go back....top dollar man, made me wait, didnt do everything he agreed to, charged me for it anyway. Like I said, the work he did was nice, not completely happy, really wanted and expected that shading, but it is an improvement.

I had been wanting a specific ear piercing for quite a while and I went in to get it, he explained to me very politely that it wouldnt work with my anatomy and then arent 45 discussing with my mother and I what would work, what wouldnt, cost, risks, healing etc. which really pleased my nevis mother, we finally decided in a conch piercing. He got all the sterile equipment from the room with the autoclave room and we went back to the piercing room which had all fully sterilizable and/or hard surfaces. He made me feel very comfortable and explained the whole procedure to me. As he did it, I felt very little pain, he put in the jewelry by way of a threaded needle and explained aftercare to me. He told me to come back in two Weeks to get the post changed to a shorter one which I intend to go do today.

I went in over the weekend to get a tattoo in memory of my aunt who recently passed away. Kelly was my tattoo artist. I took in a design idea I created and Kelly took the idea and went above and beyond what I could have ever come up with on my own. I cry happy tears every time I look at it!!! She did an absolutely beautiful job. It means so much to me and Kelly was so very sweet. Kelly, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Youre amazing and I recommend this studio to anyone looking at getting work done here. The atmosphere is uplifting, happy and all of the artists are incredibly nice. I will be referring all of my family and friends who are wanting tattoos to come here! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. :)

I saw that my sister posted a review for Illustrated Man and noticed some other reviews that I was shocked to read. I have never been tattooed here but I have been pierced. I have my tragus, nose, conch, and belly button here all in the past 3 years. He is really good at not making things awkward or high stress! I always get super nervous before a piercing. Clint was the one that helped me gauge my ears as well. The only issue I had was that my conch took forever to heal, but that has nothing to do with Clint. I really like the overall environment of the shop and its always a pleasure to se Jack =D

This was the first time that I have gotten a tattoo; and thats saying alot since I made it thru the USMC without getting one. Jack greeted me at the door with a very friendly stature, he asked what I was looking for and showed me a couple dozen in each catagory. I decided upon one and since it was a custom portrait defered the work to one of his coworkers. Needless to say everyone went above and beyond the call of duty. Im so happy with the work Im almost ready for my next tattoo. I really reccomend everyone at Illustrated Man for your body art needs.

I had Jack do several old school Sailor Jerry tats. This was almost 16 years ago, about 7 of them almost 20 years ago, and the ones that didnt get any sun still look great! I was making lunch and wondered if ol Jack was still working, and sure thing, hes still at it! Keep on keepin on Jack, youre a great artist. I get compliments all the time on the ones that show when I wear short sleeves. Ignore the complainers on here, they always want 500 bucks worth of work for 25.

Several years ago I got my left tragus pierced and wanted to get my right done as well. I went to Clint at Illustrated man and he matched it perfectly!! Not only that but it hurt waaay less when he did it. Loved it so much I went back and had him pierce my nose. My first nose piercing that I had done in Montana got infected and I had to take it out. Each piercing that Clint has done has healed very nicely and looks great. I highly recommend him!
