My boyfriend and I went in to each get a tattoo and had the best experience. We walked in and sat at the table in the waiting area and started filling out paper work. (Walk in- no appointment) We were greeted and helped quickly and the artists were all super cool and nice. A girl named Shelly did both of our tattoos and she did an AMAZING job. This was the first for both of us and she was extremely gentle and considerate. She kept making sure we were doing alright and really focused on each of our tattoos. She took the time to get a good idea of what we each wanted, we showed her a few pics and she came up with the perfect designs for each of us. She triple checked to make sure everything was perfect before she did anything else which really put me at ease! She made sure the placement and size was exactly where and what we wanted. The environment was very clean and comfortable. She made sure to deep clean everything before starting my boyfriends tattoo after she finished mine. Overall, our tattoos turned out better than we even imagined theyd be! We are both so happy and will definitely come back if we get more. She told us how to take care of them, everything you needed to know. She also gave us her card and told us to call her if we had any questions and reassured us that no question was a stupid question. :) the morning after getting it done it did not hurt at all and was barley even red! I showed my friends at work and they didnt even believe that it was brand new because it looked so good! If youre getting your first tattoo, second tattoo, or hundredth tattoo.. Definitely go here!! And ask for Shelly if shes available!!! Great experience, and GORGEOUS tattoos. So so happy with it all! Thanks so much Shelly!!!

This review is specifically in regard to *Melissa*, the shops piercing expert. This chick rocks. Not just on a human level either (which she totally does), but she really knows her stuff. If youre trying to walk in to this shop wanting some outlandish piercing on some far-out part of your body that you saw on a tumblr pic, its not going to happen - shell tell you no, but she will legitimately tell you why. What made me appreciate her was not only her work itself, but the time she took to consult with me before the needles were brought out. She is very well educated and the pride she takes in her craft is commendable. She recently pierced my inner conch and re-pierced my naval. My previous naval piercing healed crooked and was half closed - she provided suggestions based on what I had to work with and what I had in mind. She was able to conceal the previous (crooked) piercing and its healing beautifully. 1000% recommend. Revelation is my absolute go-to shop. I trust any artist working under John Monks with my skin. From my first at 18yo to my most recent, the majority of my ink is attributable to either Brent Wilhelmi or Beau Wofford.

Ive known John Monk at Revelation Tattoo for too many years to count and its because of John Monk that I waited for the perfect time to get my tattoo. John Monk is, by far, the most talented and creative tattoo artist there is-especially in KC. John Monk took one of his original creations that is on my brothers arm and turned it into another original masterpiece that is unique to me and now resides on my arm. John Monk gets it when someone wants permanent art that has special meaning to them and he turns it into the most amazing work of art you will ever know! John Monk is the only one who has ever tattooed my brother and he is the only one who will ever tattoo me! Revelation Tattoo is super clean and John Monk is worth every penny! He is most definitely worth the waiting list! I wouldnt go anywhere else but Revelation Tattoo and I wouldnt let anyone else tattoo me but John Monk! Thanks John for the most perfect tattoo that is near and dear to my heart! I love you man!

I have been going to John Monk for tattoos since 2003. He has tattooed me on 6 different occasions. His new tattoo shop Revelations is a clean, comfortable, and reliable shop. If you are wanting a truly unique piece of art John Monk is the artist for you. I can give him an idea of what Im wanting and he always puts his own unique, original, and artistic flair to the piece. I have never been displeased with any of his work, he always exceeds my expectations. I have referred multiple friends and family and he has given them the same high quality service and art as me. I travel all across the nation for my job and I have never ever considered letting anyone but John tattoo me. I am a loyal customer to John Monks Revelation Tattoo. He is not your average tattoo artist, but a truly one of kind talented and gifted artist. I am proud to display his work on my body. John Monk is hands down baaaad to the bone! Best tattoer in KC! John is a REAL and continually evolving artist. He cares about the integrity of whatever piece he is doing. UNLIKE many others, he actually studies his craft extensively and is devoted to his clients. His Japanese sleeves are unmatched by any other-period! Cleanest shop..beautiful paintings...appealing decor...great ambiance....you mos def get what you pay for as with anything else! No scratchers or lazy artists at his shop! Only professional and highly fashionable tattooing going on @ JOHN MONKS REVELATION TATTOO! Once you get tattooed by John you will never want someone else to work on your skin! Went there a year or so ago and Beau gave me an amazing tattoo, he took the time to talk it over with me and made sure I was happy with the drawing before he started tattooing. Ended up with a great tattoo and very proud to show it off.... So today I go in there to get a very special tattoo, EXTREMELY disappointed. There was four guys sitting around the table talking and drawing, there is nothing wrong with that as long as when a customer comes in you put your focus on them. Monk finally asked if he could help me with something, Umm yeah possibly a tattoo. He was very rude and showed no interest in stopping the conversation around the table with the boys to help me out. I ended up leaving without getting a peice of art work. Really sad to see what this shop has come to because I know what it used to be.

Love this place! My new tattoo shop for sure. Jesse did mine and he is AWESOME!!! Nice environment, good people, quality ink! Some people say pricey, but better quality comes at a cost. Some say rude, but whos the expert here? I totally understand the "mood" or "attitude" of a professional that spends their day being told by non-professionals "but it should be easy" about something the artist is obviously skilled in and knows whatll work or what wont. Come on people, would you rather have someone who will just take your money and slap something on you without thinking twice or would you rather pay someone to put their skill and professional opinion into your work and give you their best?? Oh, and gotta add Beth is the most awesome piercer ever! Happy to see her here!
