I purchased all my new appliances for my newly built house from Meyer & Sons 13 years ago. I started having trouble with my dishwasher about 6 months after purchase that required multiple repairs to the door seal after it leaked all over my new wood floor on multiple occasions. After Meyer & Sons could not figure out why I was having to replace my door seal about every 6 months, and the dishwasher was now out of the manufacturers warranty, Meyer & Sons said they would no longer replace my door seal under warranty and I would have to start paying for the repairs. I called the manufacturer and had them send A&E Factory Repair out to determine the root cause of all these door seal failures. The A&E representative found the main structural frame of the dishwasher was bent so severely that it made the front door bind every time it shut, putting an enormous amount of extra stress on the door seal, thus causing it to prematurely fail over and over again. A&E said the frame damage that was done to my dishwasher most certainly had to have happened before it was delivered to my home. The representative said it would have taken a significant blow to the dishwasher to have caused the kind of damage mine had. He suspected with a great deal of confidence that my dishwasher had been dropped at some point between the manufacturer and my home. I thought great, now we know why this dishwasher has been such a problem. I got ahold of Rich Meyer and explained the whole thing to him. He said "Well, what do you want me to do about it? Weve already fixed it for you multiple times, and once out of warranty, weve went above and beyond for you." I was appalled. I explained to Rich why I chose his place to buy all my appliances for my new house from them. I had heard their prices were fair, there service was good and they were good to do business with. I said, "Boy did I ever make a big mistake." I said I expected him to send one of his service guys out to verify the findings from A&E regarding the frame damage to my dishwasher. I suggested after that, you get ahold of Kitchen Aid and between you and them, figure out how to get me a new dishwasher as quickly as possible. Rich said after looking up my sale, he discovered they made note my plumber installed the dishwasher, not them, so they werent going to do anything further. I contacted Kaduce Plumbing and asked them if there is any possible way they could have caused this damage to the dishwasher frame. They said Meyer & Sons brought all of the appliances into the house, they installed the stove, microwave and refrigerator and set the dishwasher right in front of the opening next to the sink. Kaduce Plumbing hooked up the water supply and the drain and plugged in the power cord and rolled it into the space it belonged under the counter top. I stopped by and explained this to Rich and his second in charge, I believe it might be who is running the store now. He said they legally didnt have to do anything and were not going to do anything further and asked me to leave his store. I eventually replaced my dishwasher and when I did I hauled my original dishwasher down to Meyer & Sons to show them the frame damage. They remembered me and my situation. Not one of their people would even look at my dishwasher frame. I knew the day would come when Meyer & Sons would no longer be selling appliances. You cant treat customers how I was treated and continue to be in business, especially when there are many other places to buy appliances and televisions in town. I suspect there is a real need for service in the area, especially since many people are buying appliances and TVs from box stores that do not service after the sale. Why would you when you were treated like I was during the service after the sale? There are other good retailers in town that do provide good service after the sale. DeGroods, Quality Appliance and Dons Appliance to name a few. I suspect Meyer & Sons will go completely out of business very soon.

My clothes dryer was malfunctioning, so I called Meyer and Sons and described the symptoms. The helpful staff at the parts counter knew exactly what was wrong with it and sold me the correct parts for $25. When I picked up the parts, they even included a sheet of paper describing how to test the parts in the dryer to make sure their diagnosis was correct. It was. I replaced the parts and the dryer now works properly. Yes, I could have bought the parts for less money online, but I would have had to go through a lot more diagnosis and guess-work to verify what they already knew. It took about a half-hour once armed with the correct information. Had I tackled this without their help, I know it would have taken much longer and theres a good chance I would have replaced the wrong part. I highly recommend the helpful, friendly, and honest folks at Meyer and Sons.

Recently purchased a washer and gas dryer (Maytag Centennial). The sales person (Brandon) was excellent in knowledge of products and executing a final purchase agreement. They matched the "big box" retailers price on the dryer and came close on the washer. Their final price included delivery and professional installation (big thing with a gas unit). They delivered the dryer early because our old one died and then a few days later the washer arrived. Best of all, should something go wrong, you call them and they will send someone out. This is a stark contrast to the big box which delivers, but does not install and if something is wrong, one calls 1-800- whatever, located wherever. Buying local has its advantages.

The guy that we worked with had been there many years but didnt necessarily seem knowledgeable. When you work in a store like this I think you should learn most of your knowledge from what the technicians are and are not fixing and and the customers are saying is and isnt good. I really dont give very much credit to what each company says their machine will do. I want to know what people are experiencing thats why I ask someone that works there questions. I am perfectly capable of reading the info on the info card myself.
