UNFORTUNATELY, HORRIBLE SERVICE (mother of the groom) .. As a small business lender in the community, I decided to stop in the Hope Chest even though the reviews were a bit questionable. I would much rather give the local small business owner my business. Not knowing an appointment was required, I stoppped in, unannounced. I was greeted by a rather unkept, grey haired woman. Well, I should correct myself and state that I walked in and I greeted her since she showed no hint of being happy to see me. Hi, how are you? I asked. She snapped that they see people by appointment, only. She never did say hi or welcome or even show the hint of a smile. I stood speachless and silent, still with a smile on my face and a bit surprised. I thought that I may have caught her off guard, so I wanted to give her a chance and waited for her customer service skills to kick in, to no avail. A bit stunned and still waiting for her to offer me a card or an appointment, I finally said ... Oh, Im sorry; I didnt know I needed an apointment. Still, she showed absolutely no customer service skills or any desire to help me in the future. I thanked her and apologized and started to leave. Silly me ... I STILL fully expected her to invite me back. This happened three months ago. It still amazes me. I went down the street to Davids Bridal Shop in Blaine. They were also extremely busy, but they were very professional, polite and made an appointment for me. They also took a few minutes from their busy schedule to show me a few dresses. Well, I have two weddings pending. One with six attendants, the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom dresses and the other wedding will have eight attendants ... etc.

My daughter went and bought a wedding dress there - so far so good. The companys seamstress came out and marked it for alterations. But the alterations were taking forever and the wedding was less than 2 weeks away when she finally finished. My daughter is living in Duluth, she made an appointment for a Sunday afternoon with the seamstress to do the final fitting and pick up the dress. When my wife and daughter and her fiance got to the Hope Chest the doors were locked. Called the seamstress and she said that they had to go to her house to do the fitting, she had the dress there. When they got there the woman refused to let my wife, the mother of the bride, who is paying for the dress, to come in for the final fitting. She would only let in my daughter. My wife couldnt believe it - so my daughters final fitting was done with no-one to walk around and look and see how the dress looked, no-one to see how the ties were to work to hitch up the dress for the dance. And to top it all off, would only take cash and charged us $100.00 more than originally quoted. My wife called crying and told me I had to get $100 more cash and drive it over. My best friends daughter, their future daughter-in-law, and my other daughter are all engaged but wouldnt step a foot in the door even if they were giving the dresses away. They turned what should have been a great time for my wife and daughter into the very worst experience theyve ever had. Shame on them!!

Bad experience! Everyone who complained was exactly right! You try dresses on yourself and in the room with no hooks to hang them on when your done, then proceed to get yelled at because you have to set them on the floor!? Well where the H is the attendant?! If you want the dresses properly hung you should help your customers and actually be at the appointment instead of disappearing! They were also lost since they didnt get our "list" of dresses before hand because the website malfunctioned. They made such a big deal about it. The younger gal was helpful the 5 mins we got her help tho....whoever ownes this place needs to train their employees to be personable and actually act like they care about their job! Seriously!!!!! I walked into another shop without an appt that day and got better service from an attendant who already was busy, and I bought a dress from them because they were polite, nice, and accommodating!!!

I have to say, reading a couple of other reviews, I have to wonder if they went to the same shop. Hundreds of beautiful dresses to choose from and a cozy spot to see how they looked. Sue was very helpful in finding the right dress and my seamstress, Kristen was amazing! She was able to fit my dress perfectly by the time I needed it and took extra time to show me different bustle styles and make recommendations. She ended up bustling the dress under and the lace coat to the outside to show off the whole thing perfectly! And then she went out of her way to help me out with my youngest daughters dress which had been unsatisfactorily altered elsewhere. Kristen was able to give her the extra room she needed and also cleaned up the other seamstress work! And with only a one day turn-around. Shes an absolute angel! I highly recommend her work to anyone needing alterations.

After going to what seemed like every bridal shop in Minneapolis this was my favorite by far. Kohleen had me email her dress styles that I liked before my appt and she had a selection ready for me when I walked in. I wanted something simple... she didnt try to push me towards crazy at all. In fact, she was just very down to earth and actually listened to what I was telling her. When I liked a discontinued dress that was only in the sample form Kohleen brought in her seamstress to consult with me about whether she could tailor it to make it work. Towards the end of my session a plus size bride came in who had a very specific style of dress in mind and Kohleen had loads of sample dresses for her to try on. Try getting this kind of service downtown... good luck.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! I am the maid of honor in my sisters wedding, and she made her appointment 2 weeks in advanced, as you can only book by appointment anyway. Not only did only get the brides maids together to try on wedding dresses but my sister was trying on a wedding dress for the first time! We arrived 15 minutes early only to show up to an empty dark building.. THEY NEVER EVEN SHOWED UP!! My sister was so excited to try on a wedding dress for the first time and left with nothing but disappointment. I do NOT reccomend trusting these guys on your special day!!

I was very leery to visit this shop after reading all of the poor reviews regarding the seamstress. However, they were the only store willing to get in a specific dress for me (Mon Cheri). I worked with Kohleen and she was awesome! Very knowledgeable and professional. She even took pics for me! Something that lots of other bridal shops forbid. However, I will be taking the dress to my own seamstress to avoid any potential problems.

Staff was very friendly. I have been here both as a bridesmaid and a bride. They are not pushy at all. I wish they had racks of dresses that you could look through in addition to the few they have on their website. I have always had trouble getting ahold of them as they are not always in the shop to answer calls/ emails. I had to call multiple times and took 4 days to get ahold of them as they had not returned my emails.
