Im in the construction business and have shopped Menards for 30 years. Compare knowledge of products, assistance from staff, prices and rebates, and selection. There is no comparison anywhere in this area (and anywhere else Ive traveled). My wife runs the errand and they always load for her. I always return home with loads of free or deep discounted items through their generous rebates. When ordering lumber, the quality is equal or better than any other lumber yard (retail displays always contain picked-over materials). Customer service is quick and efficient, and when you know the program, returns, orders, and rebates are the easiest anywhere. Of course there is always an occasional slip-up, rude staff, or dumb help, but its few and far between. Keep it up, Menards! (It is very interesting that a recent Monticello survey voted Menards their favorite home-improvement store. Home Depot has a super store right in town, and the nearest Menards is 12 miles away!!! Wow, does that say it all...!)

Recently my Dad had a very negative experience with a middle aged female cashier at the Elk River Menards. He had a credit slip and she wouldnt take it. He was trying to explain what it was. Unfortunately my Dad has Parkinson’s and because of this he talks softly and struggles sometimes to get the words out. She must have lost her patience with him and began to mimic the way he talked and treated him as if he were stupid. My Mom complained to the assistant general manager about the incident and while he apologized for her bad behavior the woman herself refused to apologize and denied everything. What motivation would have my Dad have for fabricating a story about someone he had never met prior to this occasion? But she had plenty of reason for lying about it. I guess the point is that if you are handicapped dont shop Menards you might be mocked and made fun of for something you cant help.

My husband and I had a really nice experience at Menards Elk River MN when buying solid wood flooring. We had been everywhere looking. We finally decided on Menards. The 2 workers in the flooring department were very helpful and loaded it up for us and carted it out back and helped my husband load it up in his truck and it was -5 degrees outside that night! Very helpful workers. Have not laid the floor yet, so Ill come back and rate the material purchased later. Ive had several bad experiences at HD in Monticello, so we mostly avoid that place. Review below with the man with parkinsons- I agree that was a horrible employee. Hopefully she is not working there anymore.

Went in looking for a freezer I saw online. Got to the right area and all I could find were the very large ones. Asked the girl in that dept where the smaller ones were and she said they didnt carry any. Found the smaller ones later. Need people that actually KNOW wHAT they are talking about here! Then spent 10 min waiting at guest service to be helped. There were 3 people working at the desk but only 1 was actually working...one was cleaning out her purse and the other was talking on her cell phone. Not coming back to this store ever again!

The price of the Corelle dishes was the only thing good about this trip to Menards I liked. We asked 3 different employees for help and ALL 3 were very rude! And then proceeded to walk back to there counter which was only about 10 feet way and talk about my mother and I. If it wasnt for the $20 rebate on the dishes we were getting(which were only on rebate because someone returned them) I would have walked out and not bought anything.

Staff ignored me for quite some time then when they finally got to me they had no idea they were talking about. I would rather go to any other hardware store than this one. 0/10 Update: I went in with my husband an a man decided that he would harass me for not knowing the specific name of the item. He laughed and said that I was not worth the time. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE

Menards seems to carry a larger selection of items than most DIY stores and their prices are reasonable but Ive run into issues with the quality of the products and often times, but no always, their employees are less than helpful. I continue to shop there simply because there are items I cant really find anywhere else, except maybe online, and thats a hassle.

Hard to get help finding items - most employees in the middle of doing something - try their best to avoid eye contact so they dont have to help. Understandable - they are trying to complete task. The ones available or more willing to pause their work are very friendly. Mobile website lists stock quantity but not a location in the store.

This is one of my favorite Menards. It is set up differently than, say, the Coon Rapids Menards. Everything seems "backwards". So, just keep that in mind. I love the options they provide in certain areas, such as lighting, flooring, paint, and such. When Im planning a room redo or home project, I find most of my things there.

As a female I will not go back. No one would help. I had to pick up lumber on many occasions with a 19 month old in tow. No one Ever helped me load lumber even after asking. I have had so many bad experiances I dont have enough time in the day. I will say lowes is now my new store. I love that place

Couldnt find anyone to help us, walked around almost the entire store and 15-20 minutes later, finally found an employee who said it wasnt his department and walked away from us, never even offered to get someone else for us, we went to HOME DEPOT!! They were more than willing to help us there...

Menards oh I love you and hate you at the same time! They always have everything i need and $200 more then i came for.. If you dont like crowds dont go on the weekends. The week days you can get in and out with no hold ups!

Great experience from customer service on the phone to setting up delivery. Ended up having to cancel an appliance delivery and it was no hassle at all.

My go to local hardware store usually have what i need for a reasonable price. Good hours. Seems to be a high rotation of staff, most are helpful.
