This is a review of my own experience at Four Paws & A Tail, I am can not attest to anything besides that. I bought a Miniature Schnauzer puppy in May. It was during a weekend sale where the older puppies were half price. My Miniature Schnauzer was 3.5 months, almost 4 months old at that time, and I paid $500 for him. I was told that normally the store gives registration papers for pure-breds; however, due to the low price they would not give me registration papers. Honestly, this didnt bother me because I just wanted a household pet and companion, not a show-horse. The employees were friendly and pleasant enough. They let me hold him and went over his current shots and health with me. I received the initial deworming medication and a folder containing pamphlets about puppy raising, shot records, and a referral to their Vet Clinic. I was told that I had 4 days to take my dog in for a puppy wellness check and returns would only be accepted with a written notice from a Vet. Afterwards there was a 10 day guarantee, and then a limited 1 year guarantee on health. I also bought a bag of recommended puppy food and then that was it, I was a pet owner. There were no questions about whether or not I would be a good owner, no suggestions for other needed items, just nothing further than completing the transaction. At the time it didnt bother me, I found a puppy that I absolutely fell in love with and just had to have. I did make an uninformed purchase; however, I dont regret it. After sifting through paperwork (puppy was from a breeder that is allegedly the biggest puppy mill in the USA) and researching pet store puppies, I do not have the heart to buy another puppy from a pet store. This is nothing against the store, just a personal preference now. Despite the offer of a free first visit at the stores Vet Clinic, I took my puppy to a Pet Hospital closer the home. The Vet was very impressed with his overall health and appearance, even remarking that he is in exceptional shape and temperament. His intestinal parasites tests also came back negative. I am very thankful for his good health; however, it appeared that he was not socialized with other puppies very much. The first month we had him he was deathly afraid of other dogs, whether they were his size, bigger or even smaller. He has since moved past this timidity phase with Puppy Kindergarten classes and daily visits to the dog park. Aside from that, he was obviously well cared for and even trained. He is not afraid of people, though he does take his time to observe strangers and act with caution. He knew commands such as sit, quiet, and down. He was even potty trained and normally only does his business outside. Weve had a few accidents, but those were our fault for not recognizing his cue (running around and circling like a maniac). Overall, the experience at Four Paws & A Tail was good. I only took away one star because it would have nice if the employees had a little more to offer in terms of general puppy care and suggestions on needed items. I ended up going to Pet Smart right afterwards to buy everything else my puppy needed (bed, grooming kit, collar, leash, treats, etc).

Not sure as why the web site stating I made this review a week ago 9/22/2016 Im going make this a brief review will be back with an update purchase me an dog( less than 30days) she is only 5 months took her in within 4 business days for her chk up!.( free visit) paid for monte shots the same days after I was told by the staff my dog was current/up to date on all of her immunizations since she been.... home its been nothing but problems she wont eat the food the sale associate told me to buy. she been having loose stools before I took her back to the vet the 2nd time I called the store and tried to explain to the little girl on the other end she was absolutely rude I hung up on her!... I regret not reading and doing my research on this place of "business" before investing almost 900.00 just for the dog!.. not including the vets visits/ medication!.. as of today Ill give them a star cause they are trying to solve the problem! (as of TODAY) I also find it very interesting they partner up with Murray animal hospital down the road when Murray staff comes & check on the puppies daily or weekly! Im curious to know exactly what examine they REALLY DO ON EACH PUPPY?!?... BEFORE they are SOLD!... well that kinda explains why the customers FIRST vet visit are FREE!... Four paws & Tail staff are quick to tell you "its the owners responsibility... at the owners expense" etc!..ha they are a big joke!.. Im sure the "owners" like myself wasnt expecting to pay $900.00 plus! for a dog and almost 200.00 that same month on VET visit doesnt sound logic to me!... a line needs to be drawn when using "owners expense"( within what time frame). its been my expense since I brought the puppy home!.. meaning she had a problem before she left the store!... 9/23/2016 spoke with the owner she has been pleasant and nice through out our phone conversations!! its her staff that really need to work on their customer service skills MAYBE she shall teach them a thing or two!.. anyway she was more than willing to refund my second vet visit!:. ANDDDDDD another thing before I signed any paperwork the sales associate told me CLEARLY!!!! my dog is up to date on of her shots "she wont be needing any for a while"... well at the first vet visit I paid 76.00 (within the same week of me buying the dog) misleading/miscommunicated to customers. no way I was looking forward to paying additional money THE SAME WEEK!... after I spent 900.00 plus dollar for my dog!... Four paws & tail need to get their communication together stop misleading/lying to the customers just to make a SALE!...

There is absolutely no reason anyone should purchase a puppy from a pet store. Places like this are keeping the puppy mills in business and charging you top dollar for a dog you know nothing about. Currently have Corgi pups for almost 2K. Come on people Corgis are maybe 500 bucks from a breeder that is going to care for them and you can see the parents and living conditions of the pups. ADAOPT DONT SHOP! You say you dont buy from puppy mills but can you explain your purchase history from these places that all have had or have pending violations? You obviously are not being truthful with your customers! You should NEVER buy a puppy without seeing what conditions they came from, what the parents look like, medical records from the vet (not the ones from this shops vet because god only knows how much they give to give false information about the health of these puppies.and if you cant do that you are hiding something. You are only in it for the money and could care less about the dog.
