My friend and I took an hour and 20 minute road trip to Bill Crispins used car lot last night. we decided to look at a Certified used 2013 Chevy Sonic LTZ. For these cars to be Certified, they need to go through a 170+ point inspection done by a certified technician. We first met with Scott (used car lot manager) and he directed us to Jon who was going to be our sales consultant. Jon was a great guy throughout the night. He had a great sense of humor, and he was very personable. My friend Anyssa (who was the one interested in the car), myself, and Jon took the car out on a test drive which he included a bumpy road so we could see how it handled. During the first test drive with Anyssa driving, we had the heat on full blast the entire time (it was really cold outside), so we couldnt hear any foreign noises. when we got back, Jon got out, and I took the car for a test drive. This time I turned off the radio and the fans. Once I pulled out from the dealership, I started hearing a whining sound which changed with the RPMs, after I hit 15mph. Instantly I knew that it was a transmission whine. It was decently audible as well. So I do a couple other tests with the car and everything felt great. When we got back to the dealership, I went in, and had Jon take another test drive with me so I could have him hear the sound. He of course heard it, and agreed with me that it didnt sound good. (I wasnt too worried about it, because it was under GM warranty, so there would have been no cost to replace it). However, I didnt like the fact that the car would need to be taken into the dealership shortly after buying it. So we told Jon this, and he did as much as he could (within his power) to lower the price enough to where we would want to buy it. He couldnt reach our price range, so he went to talk with Scott about the issues we were having. This is where 3 of the 5 stars were lost. Scott walked over with Jon and asked us what he could do so we would buy the car, we explained our problems 1. that a dealership 15 minutes from our house was going to give her 1000 more for her car then Bill Crispin, and the the fact that we would need to replace the transmission shortly after buying a CERTIFIED used car. Scott then tried to explain to us that almost every manual transmission car will have a transmission whine, then started explaining that its because the oil in the gearbox on a manual transmission only touches the bottom of the gears, instead of the gears being completely surrounded by oil like in an automatic transmission. If thats the case (which it isnt), why does both my cars, and the other 10+ manual cars Ive driven, have never had a transmission whine? My $450 1994 isuzu trooper with 220k miles doesnt make sound, neither does my 2009 Cobalt SS. So why does the 2013 Chevy Sonic with 24k miles make a transmission whine? I dont know....probably because its starting to go out. Its ridiculous how much bullsh*t came out of Scotts mouth to try to get us to buy the car. I understand a salespersons job, but when you start feeding false information to someone so they will buy a car thats going to break down on them, you shouldnt be a manager, or even a salesperson at that matter. Who knows, maybe he just doesnt know anything about cars, and he read something on YouTube and took it with more than a grain of salt. I dont know. All I know is that I probably wouldnt ever buy a car, or recommend this dealership to anyone. Also, I know of two people who had the same problem with their Sonics with the same engine and transmission. They had the same exact sound coming from their transmissions. They both had them replaced by GM and guess what? It doesnt whine anymore. In the end, it wasnt so much the price that deterred us from buying the car, it was the horrible tactic of Scott lying (or just not knowing what he was talking about), to get us to buy this car that obviously had a serious transmission problem. If it wasnt for Jon, this review would have gotten 1 star. Thanks, Nick

I am writing this review because it is so important to get the word out there how wonderful Bill Crispin Chevrolet Inc treated us in buying our new Equinox. We started at another dealership and had been working with them for 2.5 weeks, they had our deposit on a vehicle. Every time we spoke to their salesman when we could reach him he gave us one excuse after another why he could not find our car that we had already made a deal on and they had our deposit on a car. So after much frustrations and feeling like they were totally our of their league in what they were telling us i made one phone call to Bill Crispin Chevrolet. I spoke to Deb Crispin owner at the dealership and explained the situation, she took our info on what we were looking for in a vehicle and within 5 min called us back and had our car we wanted. Remember the other dealership told us there were none available. Within 3 days of talking with Deb Crispin we secured our vehicle and had it home. I would and have already recommended Deb Crispin Chevrolet/ Bill Crispin Chevrolet to several people. We will never go to the other dealer again. The staff at Bill Crispin Chevrolet were so professional, knowledge in their products, and so friendly i recommend everyone go their to buy a car if you want to deal with trust worthy professional persons. Thank you Deb Crispin so much for making what was a nightmare with another dealer turn into a pleasant experience with Crispin Chevrolet. We love our new Equinox but more important we feel like we walked away from their so happy about buying our car when 2.5 weeks earlier we were so disappointed in the whole process. Crispin Chev makes you feel like you are part of their family and friends and treated us like so. Personal thank you to Deb Crispin for making everything go so wonderful. Also want to say thank you to a few of the employees that treated us so well. Kevin, Will, Travis, Kim, Shelly, Jesse. Kim G.

Typical warranty work: Sorry, we couldnt find anything wrong with it, so well rubber stamp it and shove it out the door, even though they were shown videos of the problem occurring. Two weeks later, same problem, so we drove it there while it was happening. Asked for a loaner and was told they didnt have one available until almost a week away. Another customer came in while we were waiting, and the service person came up to them, right in front of us, and offered them a loaner while their car was being repaired (non warranty work). Magically a "fix" appeared just a day ago to fix our car. Sorry, Bill Crispin, you get an F in service. Quit lying to your customers, and quit pushing issues of your warranty reimbursement from GM, onto your customers. Its not the customers issue, why should we have to pay the price of bad service, and defective product in that instance? EDIT: Im updating this review to three stars because the owner called and apologized. Were still driving around on a drivers side airbag loose on the steering wheel though, with their service department claiming that the others in the cars on their lot are doing the same thing. I highly doubt that GM designed it like that. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesnt short out and deploy while driving. EDIT: Problem is still happening. Now we have to take it back a THIRD time for the same issue.
