When I first came to gander mountain to buy my pistol, my experience was good but when I came back for questions regarding my warranty and review not so good. I began by telling the gander mountain employee my concern with my purchase another employee looked at the problem and treated me like I was an idiot even though he didnt have a full understanding of what was wrong. When I showed them both what they were missing then they shifted their concern and said there was nothing more they can do and said to come back when their gunsmith is in. That response would not be a problem except for the fact that I explained my concern with someone from the that department before I left and they said come in and my concerns would be handled and that did not happen. I also asked them about writing a review and they said come in and we will help you get that done also, but when I asked they did not cooperate very well and started explaining all kinds of instructions that are not in the paper I received and then proceeded to shove me aside while they helped other customers. So needless to say once my problems are addressed I will not be shopping at any Gander Mountain locations again!!!!!! And to think this used to be one of my favorite places to shop:(

My husband and I visited your store on Saturday February 20 intending to purchase a handgun for personal protection. My husband and I will be taking our CCW course in a few weeks. Although I have shot a few guns in my life, I know very little about them and felt somewhat intimidated in making the decision on the size and the type of handgun I would like to carry. Thomas greeted my husband and I and let me try out several models. He asked me questions about how each one felt in my hand and if I was able to easily open and close the action. I was very nervous at first. Thomas was very patient with me and answered all of my questions. I finally decided on a Ruger LC9s. I felt very comfortable with the gun by the end of our transaction. I would highly recommend Thomas and the rest of the staff working at the gun counter that night. Everyone made me feel a lot more comfortable about the whole experience. Thank you Thomas! I was able to shoot my 9mm the following day and I am very happy with it.

DO NOT COME HERE FOR ARCHERY. The guys in the archery shop dont know what theyre doing. I recently had my bow string replaced here and it was routed incorrectly. Additionally, the bow was tuned incorrectly and they had no idea how to correct it. During the tuning process, they adjusted my D-Loop and two of the times they did it they hadnt put it on correctly so, as I drew my bow, it came off and launched my arrow into the ceiling of their range. I was later told that because my single cam was slightly tilted they couldnt help me and that I would have to send it in to Bear for 6 weeks to be fixed. I said No Thanks and brought my bow to Ted Brooks Archery on Portage road. He was able to immediately correct my tilted cam and is currently re-routing the string and replacing the cable. I will be taking my business to Ted Brooks Archery from now on and recommending all others to do the same, or, at the very least, to avoid Gander Mountain for anything archery related.

Had an excellent visit recently to this Gander Mountain location. Stopped into the store to pick up a few odds and ends, and ended up walking out with a new (used) firearm! The sales staff was exceptionally helpful with my particular needs and had the answers to many of my questions. And what they didnt know, they took the time to research right along with me. They were especially knowledgable and patient when it came to the purchase of a firearm by an out-of-state resident. I used to (but pretty much still do) call Michigan home and would rather spend my dollars on my frequent trips back to The Mitten than anywhere else. The staff behind the counter made the transaction smooth, and although there was a waiting period involved, it all went off without a hitch when I returned several days later to make the pick-up. This stop will be an easy decision to make on future trips.

I hope the management staff of this store gets the opportunity to read this review. I had a very difficult time finding what I was looking for, and it appeared the staff felt more compelled to speak among one another, than actually trying to help the customers in the store. My husband found an item that was open box, and asked the cashier if the store might discount it a dollar or two more, as he mentioned to her he saw the same one on-line which he could acquire for the same price (including shipping) for an unopened unit. The cashier who seemed upset because we interrupted her texting with our apparently silly question replied. "I dont think they will discount it any further, because it is already marked down" she did not even bother to ask a manager, so we left the store without the purchase, and ended up spending over $200 with a local competitor that same day.

From what I have read, I was a little nervous to deal with this store. I was very happy with my experience. I came in to this store, to pick up my first handgun. Andrew F. was very helpful, he helped to teach me more about firearms, ammunition, and the firearm that I purchased. I know very little about firearms, and have been researching and learning what I can. Andrew explained the differences between 9x18mm and 9x19mm ammunition, which I was having a tough time understanding before. He also explained to me, how self defense ammo works. My firearm, did not come with the second magazine or the leather flap holster, that was supposed to be with it. Andrew was quick to check the back area, where he found the items that I was missing. I am very happy with my experience, and very appreciative of how kind and helpful Andrew was.

The staff is extremely friendly, two out of two stars go to their friendly faces. That being said, ANYTHING in this store can be found less expensive ANYWHERE else. Except perhaps Cabelas. The lack of knowledge behind the gun counter is astounding. If you are a first time firearm buyer, do not look to these gentlemen for an oz of expertise despite the abundance of amiable conversation and good intentions. The word "plastic" was used many times where the word "polymer" should have been, as was "clip" in spite of "magazine". Miscommunication concerning capacity was rampant, and blazer brass .45 auto was $.60 a round. Jog down the road On Target for expertise and savings, or take a short trip to Plainwell and visit Southwicks if firearms or ammo are the focus of your shopping experience.

I purchased a Chiappa M1-22 brand new, took the gun home cleaned and checked it over. Then I took it to the range for a test fire, the gun would not feed on three brands of ammo when I tried a fourth brand the gun slamfired and blew the magazine out of the gun hitting me with parts. I took the gun back to Gander the following day and was told by the manager there were no returns or refunds ( I had not purchased the extended warranty) so they sent the gun to their shop, who could not fix it then the manufacturer who said they found a problem with the camber , but they were not sure how to make it right. bottom line, It took almost 3 months of emails and store visits to get my money refunded. Beware of these clowns and shop some where else!
