**Update: I just got a call from the owner and she explained everything that I wasnt told when I called for updates in the past, which made me feel a lot better about the situation. She also offered me a discount for the troubles. I feel much better and that my voice was heard and that I was finally given full information about the dress situation.** I found a dress at this bridal shop at the end of January. My wedding is in July. I had an appointment at one other bridal shop that afternoon (since Memories was the first place I looked for a dress) and the sales woman told me that if I left now, she couldnt guarantee that the dress I liked would still be available, since there was only 1 left in the country in the size I needed. She even went downstairs to check that this was the case. We said, "what if we call back in an hour if we decide to order the dress?" We were told again, that this was the last dress available in the country, and this is the only way they could guarantee I would get the dress in ample time for the wedding. Otherwise they would need to order it directly from the designer, and that would take too long. She said (and wrote on the receipt) that the dress would come in at the end of April. So, trusting her judgment, we cancelled our next bridal appointment, ordered the dress, and put down the deposit (half the cost of the dress). Fast forward to the end of April, I call Memories and discover not only is the dress not in, there never was just one left in the country; they always had to order it from the designer, and now it wouldnt be in until mid-June! After several back and forths between the purchasing manager and the designer and myself, I was told that there would be a rush put on the dress and that I could expect it at the end of May/mid-June. They apologized that I was given incorrect information at the start, but couldnt tell me why I was given erroneous information in the first place. Today, I called since its the beginning of June, to see if my dress was in yet. I was told that the purchasing manager is watching for it and that once it leaves the designer it will be overnighted. I asked if they could give me any more information--if it would still be beginning of June, or mid-June, or when, since my wedding is next month, and I was told, "no...sorry." Once the dress comes in I will still need to get it altered since they dont do that on site. This is one of the biggest aspects of a wedding and I trusted the professionals with good reviews to not lie to me and to make me feel like they care about whats going on. Im very disappointed and will not recommend Memories to any of my friends.

I had not planned to purchase a dress from Memories; being that its the only bridal shop that isnt Davids Bridal in the area, I figured Id start here before my schedule opened up so that I could go up to Grand Rapids and hit up some salons there. Making an appointment was easy--you can request a day/time online, they confirm via email and then again on the phone. My consultant was Kyle, who is amazing. He took us upstairs, asked a few questions (wedding date, formal/semi-formal/other, etc.) and then showed us how the dresses are organized (by size) and let us go. You choose your own dresses and mark them with a ribbon on the hanger, and then your consultant takes them in your room. There are TONS of gorgeous dresses to choose from--I was pleasantly surprised. If you watch Say Yes to the Dress, they have several dresses that are very similar to ones you would see on there. I tried on several dresses and loved them all, but it was the most simple of them that was exactly what I wanted. Another party that was looking for dresses even stopped, gasping, and told me that it was The One (I also ended up on their pedestal, but thats another story, haha), and another consultant stopped on her way past us to say the same thing. Kyle let me spend some time in that dress, walking around, sitting, moving, just to make sure it was comfortable before I said yes. I really could not have asked for a better experience finding my dress, especially with as picky as I am!

First off, I am using my fiances account to write this review as I do not have a gmail address. I have been to Memories Bridal and Evening wear two times and each time I was very impressed with my experience. The ambiance of Memories exceeds many of the expensive boutiques that I visited, including Kleinfelds. They are great at creating small "store in stores" that allow for ease of shopping. The bridal gowns are located on the second floor and you are able to walk around and choose the dresses you would like to try on - your sales associate also helps select any dresses you may have missed (they know what looks good on different brides body types and what will suit their wedding/personality). The first floor has some great pageant/prom dresses, MOB dresses, and shoes. One thing that I was really surprised to find out is that they offer tuxedo rental and from what I hear it is the same quality and name brands that some other tux shops offer but at a better price. I did not purchase my dress here (I ended up going with a couture gown by Junko Yoshioka) but I highly recommend Memories Bridal if you are looking for a fantastic dress that wont cost you an arm and a leg.... youll still get a fantastic experience and in many cases - better than any of the super expensive stores. Definitely worth the trip to Kalamazoo!

Im so glad I seen somewhere to write a review for this place!!! 2 years ago I went to memories. I walked in and instantly loved the décor and was welcomed warmly. The woman I was set up with took me upstairs (along with one of my bridesmaids and mother) and let us all pick out dresses we like. I felt so very special due to the attentiveness of the girl performing my appointment and did not feel rushed at all. She let me try on every dress we had picked. I had found my dress here. To make this story more intriguing, my then fiancée broke up with me the day after I bought my dress!!!!! The signs inside said all dress sales were final, so I was so upset that I had this beautiful dress and now would have a horrible reminder of a painful point in my life. My mother called and explained the situation to the owner. The owner was extremely friendly and understanding with my mother. She said that all dress sales ARE final but that she could not in good faith stick to that in this circumstance. She refunded my mother all the money for the dress except for the commission that the worker got from the sale, which we were more than glad to pay because she was wonderful and deserved it. I am now engaged to the love of my life and WILL be going back!!!

My mom and I had such a fantastic time at Memories! It was my fourth time dress shopping....and after trying on nearly every dress in every store, I still hadnt found "the one"...I was starting to feel like I wouldnt ever fall in love with a dress...and with only 9 months until my wedding I was in a bit of a rush to find a dress. Im sorry to say that I dont remember the name of the consultant that helped us, but she was SO GREAT! She told us "you are here to relax, enjoy yourselves, I am here to work" and that couldnt have been more true. I went back and forth between two dresses, trying both on like 3 times and she was more than accommodating the entire time. I wanted a simple elegant dress with just a little bit of "bling" and she helped in choosing the perfect pin to add to the dress...including a matching hairpiece and veil. I love that they only do appointments, it was quiet and relaxing in the boutique, all of her attention was on us. Im happy to say that we found the dress and purchased it yesterday! Im beyond excited and cant wait until it comes in December! Thanks Memories :)
