READ THIS.....Please do NOT do business with Hillside Furniture. Several years ago, I agreed to purchase approximately $6,000 of furniture from them to be ordered once I decided on fabrics, finishes, colors, etc. Three days later, I went to the store to cancel the deal but they were closed for the day. When I called the following day, I was told it was too late to cancel. BEAR IN MIND THAT THIS FURNITURE DIDNT EXIST because I never selected details. NOTHING was ordered, NOTHING was delivered. They were not out any money, merchandise or effort. NOTHING whatsoever was done to constitute earning a cent of my money. They kept the cash simply because they could. They offered a store credit. I was incredulous. The dollar amount was too large for small claims court and I expected that an attorney would be expensive. I had just been diagnosed with life threatening cancer, undergoing daily radiation and furniture was not a top priority. I needed the money. As time passed, I tried several more times to appeal to their sense of fairness or compassion. It was like talking to a brick wall. More time passed and I finally found someone on Craigslist who would buy my store credit at a discount. Thinking that anything was better than nothing, we met at the store. Thats when the Hillside owner said no one else could use my credit! Seriously? What difference should it make to him? He just didnt want to give up my money. EVENTUALLY, he said he would do me a favor and let the guy use my credit, MINUS $200. (more unabashed greed) The bottom line is that Hillside is heartless, ruthless and greedy. Once they have your money...good luck. STEER CLEAR. Besides, their prices and service are NOT good. This experience was actually my second. The first one wasnt good either but it was minor compared to this.

Hillside certainly has nice furniture......and a very rude and abrasive owner. He can learn a lot from his mild-mannered, polite son. We agreed to purchase more than $10,000 worth of furniture. We were negotiating the price with the sales associate only to have the owner interrupt us, and tell me he "didnt do business like that." Like what? Like a normal business deal where you negotiate a reasonable price break for buying a ton of expensive furniture? What a rude idiot. Hes been in business for a while, so Im guessing he knows how to operate, but could obviously use a lesson on tact, courtesy, and class. Im clearly not the only one that sees this glaring flaw (see reviews below). Jeff Selik, tell your father to stay home and not contaminate the potential for repeat customers (and referrals).

Shopping at Hillside Furniture is such a pleasure! We looked at a few different furniture stores but NONE were as beautiful! My husband and I were greeted with a smile by our very knowledgeable salesperson and even the owner Bruce made a point to come over and honored our requests. Our new furniture looks AMAZING!!! When I had a question Jeff was quick to return my call and just solidified again for us we made the BEST choice going to Hillside Furniture. Thank you so much!!! A truly class act!

Salesperson lied about warranty/protection plan. Afer money was paid the salesperson retracked his statement. Owner did not stand behind his product and was very unprofessional. Was a customer but will never return. After this incident, we talked to numerous people and they had similar problems so a pattern must exist. There are too many other furniture stores, why take a chance getting mistreated. Wouldnt want the same thing happen to you that happened to us.

This place has the most contemporary furniture Ive ever seen. Ive been every where in the Detroit area and Hillside Contemporary Furniture is the best. Ive done my living room, my bedroom and my downstairs home theatre from them.. I am planing on doing my dining room next. For contemporary furniture in the Detroit area, Hillside Contemporary Furniture has the best selection.. They even came to my home to help me plan the layout for my furniture.

I asked about these two reviews 10/18 and 8/31 when I made my most recent purchase. Wow--how the story changes when you hear both sides. I bought the warranty, and was clearly told that there never has been lifetime refills They said that never existed in writing or otherwise...Oh well! What people think they remember! Dont badmouth good stores, these people have been giving great service to me and my family for over 20 years!

I bought a coffee table and an end table from Hillside Furniture and had a wonderful experience. I worked with Jeff who was eager to answer my questions and was very friendly. The price of each table were prices I could not walk away from and the clean contemporary lines were exactly what I wanted for my living room. Thank you Hillside, now I know where to go for great contemporary furniture and friendly service.

Having trouble even having someone return my call to repair a coffee table that we purchased from Hillside. Not a very good recommendation for an expensive table….having purchased most of our furniture from Jeff Selik. I am not sure if I will do business with them again --- especially if they cant bother to return phone calls after I have called and emailed periodically!

My wife and I have enjoyed shopping with Hillside for the past three years. Cant understand the people who say theyve had issues. Ive worked with both the father and the son, weve bought a lot, and couldnt ask for better service. As for the prices, this is quality stuff. I expect it to be priced accordingly. You get what you pay for. Two thumbs up.

Jeff Sellick and the Hillside team are second to none for comtemporary furniture. The service manager and entire service team was excellent for my Stressless leather purchase. They had a great selection and continued to provide excellent service - even after we were paid in full! We will return for all of our future furniture needs.

I ordered sofa from hillside and they delivered the defective one. Ive waited for 2 months they didnt do anything so I went to store the manager said" take it or leave it". He was way too rude and he throwed paper on to me. Very very disappointed with them. Good they are closing the store.

I had no idea this furniture store existed, although Ive driven past it for years. Take the time to stop and look at their unique furniture...contemporary modern, but not too much. Great prices, great selection! Youll be glad you did!

Hillside furniture has a beautiful selection and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking for high quality furniture. They are located next door to Target on Telegraph, just North of Square Lake.

Their prices are outstandingly high. They were selling coffee tables at $2000 plus, couches at $5000. Theyre going out of business, but I would wait until they cut their prices by at least 85%
