The Ann Arbor REI has a beautiful store with tons of outdoor gear, especially clothing. While their equipment and clothing is top notch, the staff is not so great. They tend to be friendly, but not so knowledgeable about the gear theyre selling. I work with a local NFP outdoor group, and our members have been mis-fit by their staff on things like backpacks and skis. When youre buying a $300 backpack or a $500 pair of skis, you deserve to get someone who knows how to size and fit them. Highly recommend Bivouac on State Street as an alternative.

Going to a garage sale means you stand outside in the cold for hours on end and wonder what they have for sale. Not a fan of how they do this. Find a better way to handle the crowd. This is a nice location. Lots of selection. Good size. A lot of things are priced well but some things are absurd. Saddle bags for instance are twice what the same brand costs on amazon (topeak and timbuk2). Other things are priced reasonable. I got a bike repair stand here for the same price as Amazon once you count my 10% dividend. Just shop around first.

This is a smaller REI location - hence the 4 star (only for the selection). I came here to try out some camping great. The staff was wonderful, they showed me tents, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags that were catered to my needs. They spent extra time with me letting me try different combinations of pads and sleeping bags. My boyfriend and I set up a tent in the middle of their floor to make sure it would fit both of us. Great service, great experience. Will come back in the future.

The two Chriss that helped us--one in shoes and one in packs--were awesome. They showed a great deal of knowledge not only of their products but also of the particular needs of certain outdoor activities. We bought some great shoes and are headed there to look at packs today! The prices may be high on some things, as some commenters have said, but if you compare some items to other stores youll find theyre comparable. Were satisfied customers and we bought a membership.

Dont take your bike for service to these nimrods, I went in for the basic maintenance package, my back was returned to me with air low in my tires, a loose drive train, and a clicking noise when i pedal downward, they also dont do bike fittings and have no idea what their talking about when it comes to road bikes, even though they have some weird bike snob attitude mixed with hipster clothes in a corporate REI outfit.

Purchased a dry bag for my son. 1st time he used it everything in it got wet including his phone, which he had to replace. Since I didnt pay to purchase their "membership" and I didnt have a receipt they said there was nothing they could do. The bag is clearly from them and like new condition. I even offered to show them my credit card bill. Over a $15 item I will never purchase from them again!

Awesome outdoor sports store. They have everything you are looking for for your outdoor adventure. I would love to see their prices be a little more reasonable, but overall a good experience. I have noticed that the sale prices do not always ring up at the register either, but their employees are often empowered to make that right. Its happened on more than one occasion. its frustrating.

Ive been a member forever, I love the sales, good gear isnt cheap, so I try to be a good shopper. The membership is an amazing deal with extra sales/coupons & it makes any returns a breeze. The staff is always friendly & helpful when you need it or happy to just let you do your thing. Its great to have a nice selection of products available for when the internet isnt a good option.

I ordered a bike recently and when I went to pick it up it turned out that they had ordered the wrong frame size, this was a bit disappointing for me and this is the primary reason for my 3 star review. They did give me 10% off my bike, which is better than nothing, but I still had a poor experience Im afraid. I am unsure if I will be ordering any bikes through them in the future.

Love this store. Great selection of top notch quality outdoor gear. I always go in for one item, expecting to be in and out, but walk out an hour later with multiple new camping toys. The staff is always super helpful, knowledgeable about the store products, and wont hesitate to tell you where to go to get a better deal, if it isnt found in their store.

They really took their time helping me find the right pack that fit me, the guy loaded 20lbs into 4 different packs we narrowed down to. Even though it took me a good hour of walking around to find which one was the best fit and comfort, the sales guy stuck around to answer any questions and also gave me quite a few good suggestions.

I counted four employees in the section of the store I was in and all of them were too busy talking to one another or their friends to help me out. The only time one of the employees said anything to me was to say goodbye as I was walking out the store. This REI is not as well stocked as most.

This place has a large selection of just about anything you might need for travel, biking, hiking, camping, whatever. Staff was nice, even if they were a little pushy on there membership program. Prices arent the cheapest but I would say acceptable and the quality seems very good.

Just a regular REI and all that you can expect. Decent service and high prices. However, if you know what youre looking for, the excellent return policy makes up for it. Great garage sale section at this location that sells deeply discounted, slightly loved items all year round.

Bill is Awful. Some of the REI Brand products are mediocre. So I decide to return. But Bill told me not to shop at REI anymore because of returns that I had. Worst customer service guarantee and just filed claim to BBB and its corporate office.

Always overpriced and you will always be asked to buy a membership. I am a member, but the employees clearly have sign-up requirements. Overall though, they offer great quality merchandise and stand behind what they sell.

Been to this location several times and I always love it. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, even on busy holiday sale days. I have bought footwear and camping gear there and am happy with the purchases.

Im not an avid backpacker, but every time I come into REI, the staff is always so helpful! I leave knowing more about the kind of backpacker I am, and feel safe in my purchases. They really are a fantastic place to shop.

The staff is always so knowledgeable and friendly. I know its never the cheapest place to get gear but I can always count on the people there to make sure I have the right gear for the adventure.
