I went to Schultzs for the first time Friday evening with my wife and young daughter. We absolutely loved the store. I was looking for a new pair of pliers for those feisty fall pikes. Sure enough they had the brand I was looking for, Dr. Slick. Looking around I was very impressed. They had every fly combo you could think of for making your own and the pre-made selection was phenomenal. The rod and reels were very abundant and everything from beginner gear to pro guide quality. Great selection of Simms, Costa and Patagonia hard goods. The prices were also incredible compared to other fly shops I have been to around the country, and if you are just getting into the sport the prices will beat anything you will find at a big box store. Schultzs was very clean and neat to boot. The guy working at that time was very polite. My wife and I will definitely be taking advantage of their guide service in the near future.

This is the kind of wonderful well-stocked Fly Shop that I warmly remember as a kid, when my Dad would take me to learn about fly fishing, and where the proprietor was the nicest salesman in the store! Sadly, these kind of special spots are way too few in existence today!! Happily, Schultz Outfitters IS one of those special places that not only serves up exceptional quality, but also great advice, and friendliness as well! Mike Schultz is a super friendly fly fishing nut, guru, aficionado expert who makes you feel not only welcome, but glad you walked into his marvelous Ypsilanti Fly Shop! Yeah, it takes me 1hr+ to drive to his shop from Birmingham... but honestly, its WELL worth the trip!!

Prices are fair, stock is good especially if youre a fly tier. Rod and reel selection are good with a wide range of prices and quality. Fly selection is very good, everything for the local area plus a tasting menu of patterns for fish common in popular destinations. The staff is very helpful and always generous with answers to any questions. Definitely one ofy go to shops in the area.

Its like the Disneyland of fly fishing. Everything from nearly every brand related to fly fishing or tying. Plus guides, tying classes (bar flies) and destination trips. All done by guys who enjoy every second of what they do. They even sit there with a smile and pretend to be amazed by your fishing stories!!! What more could you ask for!!! Check em out.

If youre looking for a stuffy, pretentious, and overpriced fly shop, then dont come here. These guys are awesome, and theyre passionate about what they do, and they want the sport of fly fishing to be accessible to everyone. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area, as its hands-down one of the best establishments Ive been to. Period.

The best. Huge selection of flies, gear, and tying materials. They have every tying material you could ever need, and I mean everything. Things I struggled to find online/elsewhere, they got it. Especially with synthetic materials. Everyones super knowledgeable, and eager to help you catch fish. Must visit.
