I have a love/hate relationship with Bivoauc. Im a twenty something year old girl with a passion for more high fashion (even though Bivoauc isnt really high fashion but Id say for MI its as close as youll get to a high end boutique) SOME of the female employees on the womens fashion side come off rude and snobby. I walk in there first thing and most of the girls are just hanging out b/c no one is really in there and I get their not so subtle up and down stares at my outfit and a fake hi how are you and a half smile/smirk only bc they have to greet you. Its like they give off this I"m better than you attitude. Its to the point where I dread going in there and ruins my shopping experience when I know they are going to see what Im wearing, see if I look like I could have money to spend etc. I know for a fact that other customers feel the same way, Ive read reviews on Yelp and the like. The employees just arent genuine and I feel really intimidated. I go to malls and stores all the time and I rarely have a problem with snobby employees. I"m not surprised that the female employees would be arrogant esp at a high end boutique. So, love the clothes not so much the employees. Secondly, I have to say that Bivoauc is NOT OVERPRICED blame the textiles, cost of transportation, cost of gas for transportation; blame the companies for using cheap labor in China or El Savador where my Northface was made and then hiking up the price etc! Of course the brands like Juicy Couture, Sam Edelman are nice but they arent quality they are brands that are mass produced. The Jean selection is to die and they have a selection of unique shirts.

Every once in a while, you stumble on a company that demonstrates truly exceptional customer service. Bivouac completely blew me away with their level of product knowledge, customer service, and responsiveness. I needed a dress shirt ASAP for a wedding and reached out to Bivouac with questions about their shipping options. I was quickly put in contact with the team member best suited to answer my questions. AJ was able to offer excellent advice and made solid suggestions for an alternative option when we found out one of the sizes was not in stock. Not only was AJ able to point me in the right direction, he also over-delivered on his promised shipping speed. Everything I needed arrived a day before the guaranteed date! It may not sound like much, but with the time frame I was working with, the extra 24 hours was VERY welcome. I definitely would not hesitate to recommend Bivouac and will be shopping there again in the future. Thanks again!

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My 2 friends and I immediately walked upstairs upon entering this "store." We were not even greeted by anyone. When we headed upstairs, a worker followed us and did not say anything. She proceeded to stand at the top of the stairs and look directly at my friends and I to make sure we werent stealing anything. She didnt even try to make it discrete. My friends and I all left very pissed off. This particular worker is one of the worst that Ive ever experienced. My friends and I wouldve passed out from heat stroke because of the lack of air conditioning before we wouldve tried to steal something.

I have been a Bivouac customer since 2004 and have never been disappointed with their advice and attention to detail. Their consultants are attentive, incredibly knowledgable and very friendly. They are all experts in their fields. They will meet ANY price, including internet. Their equipment is the best of the best. If I sound sold - it is because they deliver. My favorite two consultants are Edward in Mens Technical Clothing and Brad upstairs in the loft. But I have yet to meet an associate that isnt friendly and patient. You cant fake those attributes for the 7 years Ive been buying from them.

Trying to support a small local store, I managed to walk over to the store to purchase new boots during my lunch hour. One employee was helping another customer while I looked around. He failed to say a word to me for the 15 minutes that I waited there, even when he had finished with the other customer. As he walked away from me in the shoe section, he seemed to be trying to wave other employees over, but nobody came. I walked out of the store past several employees talking at the counter, but none of them took notice. Their loss of a sure sale and a future customer.

I have only ordered from this company online but I must say they have a friendly staff and unbeatable prices. They sell excellent name brands and quality products. I couldnt find better prices on the web. Their shipping & sales manager, Maisie, was amazing. She answered all of my questions in a timely fashion. She would call and let me know when they had what I was looking for in stock, or when the price was marked down. She even held items for me until my returns came in. I couldnt have asked for more from this company.

went in just to look around, maybe try on some stuff. i later learned that i was the only customer in the store, but teams of salespeople were EVERYWHERE. i couldnt turn a corner without being asked for the umpteenth time if i needed help. very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. i felt like i was just disrupting conversations between employees (who were just hanging out in every single area of the store). oh, and i felt like i was being watched by hawks. wont go back.

The staff seemed more interested in watching for shoplifters than offering any help to shoppers. Requests were dismissively answered. The cashier was unfriendly. I noticed in my credit card statement that we were charged the same amount twice - it took three phone calls w/ rude employees to rectify the situation. The final person I spoke with was apologetic and kind, but after the total experience we will not be going back.

Awesome local outdoor supply store. Anything youd need for camping, hiking, climbing; plus plenty of helpful know-how from the friendly employees. As an extra, for fashionable gals, theres a nice selection of trendy boutique-worthy tops, skirts, dresses, and denim to peruse. All on a pleasant stretch of lovely State St where you can take a leisurely stroll to discover plenty of the local charm of Ann Arbor.

Worst outdoor store experience today! I bought a pair of chacos and after three days my feet were hurting horrendously and they refused to do anything about it because i didnt have the box which i left ay the store to have recycled...next purchases will definitely be made at rei whi back up everything they carry for at least a year!!! Sorry not sorry

Great selection of premium outdoor products but the location doesnt really offer much that would draw me in from larger outdoor recreational retail chains other than hiring local students as models. That doesnt mean theyre not a good store with a fantastic location; they could just do more. Or they could be more fun... like Moosejaw!

bivouac is a great store. a facet of down town Ann arbor. my favorite thing about is that they have a price match guarantee. if i can find it cheaper online or in a catalog, i can print it out and show it to them. BAM! instant half off. with no shipping costs. a great place to shop, especially if you have a bit of fore thought.
