This store is clean, smells good, cares about their customers by educating them on every single little thing we may need to know about our new purchase and although I thought I knew, the owner was able to tell me 5 things in which helps me that I had NO CLUE ABOUT and I am experienced. So far, his way worked FAR BETTER THAN MINE. I grant you they are pricey but only on some things, but these bad reviews seem to me to not be of a professional business nature, it seems personal or someone did not get a deal they wanted, etc. Walk in ANY pet store and tell me how large the guinea pig tanks are, they are the same size or smaller as a child...I raised these animals for better than 10 years and always look even though I dont have one now. Just my thoughts. Give people a chance before believing bitter accusations of others on the internet. I can see people have things to get angry over but is it really fair to hit a business this way?

3 times - So I asked the Manager /Owner - Rick .Ive had my Bird feed rounded up to the highest Dollar - Ignoring the actual amount - Its more Convenient to steal from customers. He explained the scale has worked correctly for 15 years -& Thanks for registering the complaint? He was Nasty, Talked down to me, Didnt want to understand the complaint - let alone did anything to correct it - Why not offer to weigh the bag again, I got home it was 56 cents over the correct mount - you cheated me out of money - Its NOT your Scale - Its Your Employees rounding to a higher amount - Using a scale that is Not on the front counter to be seen by customers - Stealing from customers - you got caught and refused to correct it - Ill never go back. He was nasty, rude.

I went here and purchased a hamster. The staff understood I never had experience with hamsters and didnt give me any info unless I asked. Came back and got a gerbil then had to return it the same day because it had some type of mass on his abdomen, the gerbils were fighting in the cage so they had marks on them, I found 1 I wanted and purchased it but the staff that was helping me didnt want to help and said its not his problem that the animal had that on him and I shouldve noticed it when I got him and I was lucky he was doing an exchange. Well if you are an pet store owner/employee its YOUR job to make sure the animals are cared for. Wont go back. So unfortunate

I have been coming to Critters for almost two years, and I have been to a few pet shops around Wayne county. I have bought five budgies, a cockatiel, a Jenday Conure, and they are all alive and well. My wife bought a bearded dragon, and thousands of dollars worth of fish, and hadnt a problem with one. I dont understand these one star reviews. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I still buy my food and supplies, and swear at times gives me a deal. The man and his one star review, about being upcharged by 56cents, all I can do is shake my head and laugh. If you want to be price gauged, go to a Pet Supplies Plus; Critters gives great deals!

I bought a lovebird from the store and was told it was a young hand fed lovebird. Im not sure how young it is but I can guarantee it was not hand fed properly. It was nearly panicking for the first week and with a lot of work the bird has calmed down but I highly doubt she will ever be tame enough to hold or take out of the cage. Although I love my bird I would have appreciated knowing first that she was not handfed or even the least bit tame. If you want to spend 90 bucks to have a guy cram an insane bird in a box for you to take home, go for it! If you would like a good bird experience I would do more research and find a bird elsewhere.

I have never seen animals cared for so poorly by a pet store in my life. way too many animals in small tanks, rodents fighting/have massive sores, one mouse tank had pups in it that were being chewed on. when I asked an employee if they were aware there were pups, he said yes, but theyre not selling those so theyre not important. one lizard uncharacteristically keeping its mouth open, the employee that I asked had no clue what was wrong with it. kittens looked miserable. TONS of dead fish. maybe the owner is out of town for a while? will be calling to get someone to check out the animals condition at this store.

Staff is always super helpful with my freshwater fish. Theyre very knowledgeable and answer every single one of my crazy questions. I considered myself a "fish killer" before I went to Critters. I could not keep fish alive no matter how hard I tried. Now I have a whole tank full of healthy fish! They help me with anything I need to know. Prices are great and the best part is that if you get a super mean fish who tries hurting your other fish, they allow you to bring it back and put credit on your account for that fish or switch the fish for a new one. Great place, would recommend.

Worst pet store I’ve ever been too. They dye their hedgehogs different colors, which is toxic to the hedgehogs and irritates the skin. If it was safe there’s be colorful hedgehogs everywhere, but no there is not. It is harmful to the animal. Also their other animals are in very poor condition and live in filfth. I work with animals and seeing them in this condition breaks my heart. I will be sure to let as many people I know aware of this horrible pet shop. I also will be telling all my friends and family to never shop here again!

Love this place! The staff are knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The owner is great. They really take the time out to answer your questions. They have a great selection of all size fish and aquarium needs! My son Mathew has a 300 gallon tank, a 180 gallon tank and a 125. Most of all the supplies come from Critters, they are very reasonably priced they have fish and decor for all size tanks! They have puppies and kittens sometimes! Reptiles, Birds, ferrets, hedgehogs, snakes all sorts of cool things! They have an Alligator

Wide selection of pet supplies for all of your furry, feathered, or scaly family. Prices are reasonable, but a little higher than most shops. The pricetag on items is easily overlooked with the abundance of critters they have in stock including: spiders, scorpions, turtles, fish, cats, lizards and snakes, and birds. Some of these you wont find at other pet (supply) stores. The team at Critters knows quite a bit about what you need for certain pets so dont be embarrassed to ask.

Critters is great when it comes to hard-to-find nutrients / foods / supplies that arent sold at chain stores, however they are terrible when it comes to caring for their animals, you should not purchase pets here. Improper combinations of fish - oscars with broken jaws swimming around in piranha tanks, and deformed or injured animals dying within a week of purchase. The novelty for animal variety wears off when you realize every animal around you is sick or improperly cared for.
