Workers are great, service in the aisles is great but when we go to the register to pay a lot of times the baggers are rude. I like my water in the bottom of the cart not underneath its very hard for me and others to get heavy things from under the cart. I always put the water and other heavy things in the counter to be scanned first so that I or the baggers put it inside the cart first most of the time eye roll over and worse. On Monday the bagger didnt understand what I was saying and ask the cashier in Spanish what I was saying this way( O que esta brucha esta dizendo) Translation ( what is this witch saying?) I am Portuguese and I understood what she was saying not only she was rude she hurt my hand when I was pointing where I want the watter I am sure she didnt do that in purpose. Its a challenge when they dont speak the language I been there once times where different but I was never rude. When cashiers and baggers are serving the customer they shouldnt be speaking other languages and when they do DONT laugh looking at the customer. A lot of of us understand the language. PS: Your employees are hardworking people but a little kindness goes a long way. When this happens again should I go to customer Service? Thank you for caring and thank you for being there for us the Customers.

You know, I avoided Market Basket for years because I thought it would be nasty. Why I thought that, I dont know. Just because it wasnt the usual name. When I decided to try it, I was glad to be proven wrong. Its clean, the prices are impossible to beat, the selection for food stuff is quite good for a store this size. The aisles are actually larger than the Whole Foods in Somerville, but may feel smaller because the place does get busy (and that human-ness is part of the appeal for me). Some people are in more of a rush than others, but I wouldnt call them rude. Ive dealt with people being more rude while shopping in the Whole Foods around Cambridge and Somerville. I mainly go to MB for their produce. The turnover is so fast that everything is fresh. Theyve begun to stock more organic, which is nice. And, theyve got some non-Western produce that is always fresher than those at the other "ethnic" markets in the area. Lines are long sometimes, but its a perfect time to catch up on trashy articles in the celebrity magazines.

I have been shopping here for many years. Although I have found a significant increase in MBs prices, it is still the least expensive market around here to shop at. One thing for certain-- it is an extremely chaotic (and for that reason, messy) store. No matter what time or day of the week you go the store it is extremely difficult to navigate. I never understand why stocking can not be done after hours. Between the number of shoppers in the aisles and the number of palettes in the aisles as they are stocking, one can barely move. It is very frustrating and, as a result I often end up leaving the store short of what I want. I do my shopping on a monthly basis, so when that happens the rest of my shopping goes somewhere else. I have a feeling MB doesnt care too much about that with the number of customers you have, but it cant be any easier for your employees. I wish MB would think of both those issues and try to make the shopping experience a little easier for consumers and employees!

this place is just way too hectic to shop but go if you must be forwarned: EVERYTHING here is SMALL from the aisles, the parking check out and even the amount of space you have to move around its BARELY enough i know its just like every other Market Basket but this one is the WORST ive seen it doesnt matter what day you are there ( esp during the Holidays you dont even want to KNOW what it looks like in there) is just too stressful to shop too many people long lines and little room i dont know why would they put this here in my opinion i think it was better off as a Shaws but they made it into a MB bottom line its ok if you need just a few things and are in/ out but even then its NOT easy by ANY means shop at your own risk ps: if you come by Bus the 87 is only frequent Rush Hour any other time i believe it runs every half hour so dont spend too long in there. cuz trust me you wont want to i dont even live in this area and ive seen just how crazy it is GOOD LUCK!

Few experiences in my mundane life have been as noteworthy as my visit to Market Basket. Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Star Market; they all pale in comparison to the shining north star of grocery chains that is MB. To shop there is to cast off the oppressive chains of society and leap unfettered into the abyss of truth, the melting pot of Boston that swirls and boils white upper middle class mothers with college students and colorful Hispanic characters. Once, I saw a bird fluttering among the dairy section; truly MB is a place of natural wonder if Gods creatures feel so at peace there. Another beautiful day I witnessed a woman who had clearly voided her bowels in her undergarments but continued to shop as if nothing was amiss. Whether the soiling was due to old age and a failing organ system or sheer joy at the bargains she was receiving, I could not tell.

Terrible place to go shopping during busy hours. The place is overcrowded and people can barely move around without bumping carts or body parts. Once you start moving you cant go back without menacing people by waving a cucumber or something or a hot pepper. Prepare to fight over the last organic leaf when you are reaching for it at the same time as another shopper. Also if you drove here with the assumption that you will find parking...LOL. However the biggest problem is the people who work there, who do not seem well trained, aware of their surroundings or caring for customers time. Cashiers are are not only slow to check items but they even take their time to strike a conversation when its very busy without any concerns about the line. Find another Market Basket.

Now Market Basket itself is great. The shop is cheap yet good quality. The biggest problem of this one is the crowd. Unlike others I would not say people there are overly aggressive or slow. It is only that the shop is to small for the amount of people shopping there. Like many said, the parking lot is full. It sometimes is hard to find a place to lock a bike and shopping carts are out. And if they would add more carts nobody could move inside. One time we went there and grabed a shopping cart from the collector on the parking lot. He did not bring a single cart back to the shop because all got grabbed by people. Inside there are then just to many people. Verdict: dont drive there and go to another Market basket if you can. If you cant you will be happy to save $$

The first review I saw for Market Basket started with the line: "You want groceries? Prepare to do battle." I made the mistake of thinking this was a joke. To my sorrow, I have learned. This place is astonishingly crowded. All the time. Plan ahead. Memorize the location of items you need your first time through. Dont expect to be able to back up - ever. Missed an item you needed? Just leave it. It isnt worth your life. You can do a bit better if you tag-team - one person operates the cart, and another person acts as a runner for forgotten or hard-to-reach items. Basically, shopping here requires strategy. Its part of the charm. Beyond that, its cheap, the quality is good (especially the produce), and the selection is decent.
