Gamestop has changed alot since before when it was known as "Funcoland". I personally worked there for two years when it was known as Funcoland and 2-3 years of it being known as Gamestop. Funcoland was a great place to work and buy games and get a decent deal for trade-ins. I dont want you to think I am just some randomly displeased customer. Gamestop nowadays, like an large corporate business is all about the bottom line and less about the actual customer. I still buy games from there, but I just wanted to enlighten a few customers or parents that may come in there about some things that go on. ***Display Game Cases/Games*** Gamestop has a policy of opening up one copy of each game as a display model, which they they place the empty case on the wall and the game in a sleeve, in a drawer. When they run out of the sealed copies of the game, they then sell this display copy at full price, even though it has been opened, handled and even on occasion will have light surface scratches on it (Employees sign games out and even sign out new games). So you dont always get a new game, even though they tout is as new. Just about any other company that sells display model items gives a open or no-box discount. Gamestop is underhanded and does not. Another issue is my Fiance went it and purchased a new game from gamestop, one of these display models. The case has mysteriously vanished and they sold her the game FULL PRICE as a new game with no case or manual. Are you kidding me? One of the employees signed the reset saying case/manual missing so I could get the case later. It took two separate trips to convince them to give me a case and manual for the game, when they did it was a beat up used case. In the end, I suggest not buying any game they tout as being new unless is is shrink-wrapped. Also pay attention and look at the shrink-wrap itself. If it looks cheap and stretchable like SARAN WRAP that game was likely used and they used their own shrink-wrapping machine. New games come in a non stretchy clearer shrink-wrap, the same sort of wrap you pull off a pack of gum or cigarettes. ***Research Games Yourself*** The average Gamestop employee nowadays knows very little about the games they are selling. Most are kids working a minimum wage job after school or on the weekends. Lots of them know very little about what they are selling. Go to popular websites and see what games are about, read reviews, plot details etc. Parents, EDUCATE yourself in your childs gaming. Get involved, dont let these employees make the suggestions for you. Do your own research. Final thoughts. As I said, gamestop has many issues, its far from perfect but it has a good selection of games. Even with my issued I buy from them still, but I also do alot of my own research. I dont rely on the employees for anything other than punching the numbers into the computer and putting my game in a bag. I am not saying do not go there, because even I still do. I am just bringing a few things out into the open for you guys to be very careful about when shopping there.

Great service and knowledgeable employees, willing to help with anything in your gaming world! I recently purchased a used gold Zelda edition Nintendo DS lite, got an awesome deal. Plus, they have plenty of Pokemon cards and accessories. I love this store, and the employees are always so helpful, see you soon!!

Very friendly staff, good selection of new games. Prices are on par with other stores, but sales are few and far between. Good place to get gifts and collectibles for gamers. Their trade-in values remain notoriously bad but thats just the way their corporate works - certainly not a knock against this store.

Employees are passionate about gaming and offer great recommendations even to a 40+ old gamer such as myself. They are always making you aware of current promotions as well as ones coming up. Always a great experience in the years I have been going.

The staff here is not knowledgeable, they know bits and pieces of only new games. Most of them lack the necessary experience to advise you. Plus they dont even know when shipments arrive.

Employees and Corporate Policy make returning scratched discs nearly impossible. At BBuy they can look you up, at Gamestop you HAVE to have a receipt to get credit...
