Who has over 90% of the items they sell exclusive brands that meet or exceed national brand quality, but cost up to 50% less? Aldi do! Who lets you pack your own groceries, which keeps the lines moving & saves you money? Aldi do! Who has shopping cart rental where you lend a quarter for a cart and get said quarter back when returning it? Aldi do! Howdy do, Aldi! Aldi Food Market, a German import ready to take up stakes in the good ol USA, held simultaneous grand openings at all their SoCal locations. Ive been to the Open House, where customers could check out the store, indulge in samples & receive complimentary reusable bags, but not purchase anything yet. Also, I stopped by in the afternoon of the Grand Opening, for more samples, more complimentary reusable bags, enter a raffle for free produce for a year & to purchase some items. Here are my thoughts- Aldi Food Market reminds me of a Smart & Final. Easy to navigate aisles, fresh produce, no bakery or deli. The building is smaller than the out of business Walmart Neighborhood markets, meaning all the merchandise is within quick reach. Grand Opening bargain-busting specials included- 14 oz organic virgin coconut oil/$3.99 bananas/$0.39/lb 64 oz sweetened almond milk (original or vanilla)/$1.29 1 gallon whole milk/$2.45 At the register, I noticed the cashiers have office swivel chairs to sit as they ring you up. No achy legs & feet from standing all day. Thats quite thoughtful of Aldi, but the first thing that popped into my head was "But, isnt sitting down for long periods of time unhealthy?" What would be perfect would be a register which automatically raises & lowers to encourage standing every now & then. Thats the ticket! Bring your own bags, otherwise Aldi has bags for purchase. Even though it takes a quarter to rent a cart, some people dont feel need to reclaim their quarter and leave their carts in the parking lot. I was my usual kind & helpful self, bringing back a couple carts that were near me and, in turn, was allowed to use one of them for my visit. Karma, people ;p Welcome to the neighborhood, Aldi! The grocery business is a hard nut to crack, just ask Haggen and Fresh & Easy, but I like what I see so far. The prices are great on some of the items I frequently purchase & the friendly staff were ready to assist me with whatever I may need. Heres to many a full rental shopping cart! Highly recommend! This place is great . I like this place because they have them in Europe and back east in Chicago. Theres so much better than most California chain grocery stores. Their prices are like Smart & Final but their selection is better than Smart & Final. This selection is similar to Smart & Final crossed with Ralphs. Aldis saves you money in a bunch of unique ways. They dont stock name brands but often times you can find a few big-name items here or there. They have house brands and not a wide selection. Like when you go to Ralphs for tea they have 19 different brands of chamomile. Its not like that at aldi they only stock one brand of chamomile tea. Aldis also has a quarter deposit on their carts saving money by not having staff to fetch carts every hour and the carts get returned back to the front of the store. Unlike other stores where the carts are always never to be found in very busy times and tying the carts down prevents them from roaming the neighborhood then later coming back to the store sweaty and smelly. Aldi doesnt often have a large staff. This also saves money the staff only moves big pallets of items, stocks the freezer/refrigerator sections ,and runs the cash registers. The staff is well-paid, has great benefits, and a proper 40 hours week . This seems to be why the staff is friendly and to be in good spirits. The store is super new, clean ,brightly lit, the items are all well placed on the shelves ,and the air conditioning is great. Parking is adequate and theyre located right next to Babies R Us.

I go here almost every weekend for groceries. The store is small compared to other grocery stores, but the stuff the have are amazing and affordable compared to other places such as Sprouts and Trader Joes. You have to bring a quarter to insert into the shopping cart to unlock it, and when you bring the cart back, you relock it to get your quarter back. You also have to bring your own shopping bags, or you can purchase paper bags from them. The checkout line can get long at times, but another worker comes and helps fairly quickly. The store setup seemed odd at first, but after going there for awhile, I got used to it.

Aldi is not new to me. I shopped there back in the 70s when I lived in Germany. Aldi will make it in the US big time, Im sure. If Americans could get used to bringing a quarter to unlock their Cart and getting it back when they return the Cart, Aldi will survive. Great german food all over the place, rock bottom prices throughout the Store, no coupons needed. The Food is always fresh, a real pleasure to shop at Aldi again. Brings back old memories.

Good prices and clean. The deals go quick due to low stock as it isnt as crowded as the one I used to visit weekly while in the Midwest. This one is a lot more quieter. Only one attendant in the whole market. Everything is self service but i dont mind, as that keeps the prices down. They put everything by the case cutting down stocking fees. Have a quarter ready for the shopping cart. Bring a bag for bagging your stuff at the side of the store.

Decent quality at an affordable price. Many organic options are available without breaking the bank. Product selection can be limited and we dont really patronize their pre-packaged meat (head up to the local Stater Bros on Pioneer and Artesia for that). All in all, very happy to have one in the neighborhood. Just remember to bring your own bags and a quarter to borrow a shopping cart!

Great prices and excellent quality private label products. Bring a quarter to use a shopping cart, return the cart and get your quarter back. Remember to bring your reusable shopping bags, youll be bagging your own groceries. The employees here are few but helpful and super efficient to keep costs low. They have a constantly changing inventory of new products to try each week!

So far...manager told me that these are the permanent prices. Give or take a few cents Im sure. Love the fact that those of us who try to make our money last and run around town trying to find the discount food deals to feed our families are finally having our prayers answered. I welcome ALDI with open arms.

I love this place. REALLY good prices for good quality products. I always thought cheap means crappy food. Not here. Store doesnt have a huge selection but the deli and dairy and breads are unbeatable elsewhere. Easy to get in and out, fast check out and friendly service. Im so glad Aldi is in Cerritos.

If Fresh and Easy could not make it in Ca. Aldi will be closed in a year. It does not appeal to Ca. Non Brands , limited meats poultry, veggies . No quick meals . Stater Brothers, Costco will drive them out. Who did the study of buying habits in this area?? Aldi should sue for bad info.
