Took a truck load of stuff there today. The lady at the cash register was very nice. The older lady sitting by the door was very unpleasant. Told me they dont receive large donations on Saturday. Even though I unloaded my truck and brought it inside myself. I told her they told me Thursday that it would be fine to drop it off on Saturday. She told me they have rules and they usually dont do that. I said do you want me that take it elsewhere? Her grumpy ass said no but we have rules. I said ok Maam but do you realize that all this stuff In this store is here because people want to help? She said why dont you sit down and let me tell you how rules work. I then told her that her attitude has taken all the feel good away from this experience. She look right at me and said, "Sorry and have a good day". Again the lady at the cash register was awesome. Sorry DAV but grumpy lady needs to go.

Im so very disappointed! I have been trying to get a check for the almost 2 days I worked there, almost 2 years ago. Yep, almost 2 years! Check was mailed, I never received it, they said it shows not cashed. Mgr, Victoria said 1st I needed to "check with main post office and see if they have it" then was told.... "technically they paid you." No, not if it did not make it to correct address! Ive even offered to accept an in-house credit. Oh! The W2 was delivered, wrong address listed, but mail carrier knows me. He checked main PO no sign of my undelivered check there. Why not take care of this? I will add the place has improved by leaps and bounds! Merchandise is organized finally! Now need to increase lighting and hire more wonderful people like Nancy and Brenda!

No large donations on Saturday? Are you kidding? This store is not staffed to receive donations on the busiest donation day of the week. You can unload your items yourself and bring them thru the front door of the store where they will be dumped. They do not have the manpower to even move it. And they accept no furniture donations on Saturday at all. I only wanted to donate to this organization because my husband was a Vietnam veteran. We believe in giving back and helping other disabled veterans. I can not dishonor his memory by dumping his belongings in the front of a store. It took me 11 months to take this step and I left heartbroken.

The DAV has EVERYTHING ! Clothes, books, furniture, dishes, decor, rugs, jewelry ... This is the best thrift store in Louisville, and the only DAV store in the state. When I moved to town I picked up a patchwork area rug and a dining table with chairs for my new apartment. Quality pieces that have stood the test of time, for minimal cost. A lady was buying herself a wedding dress for $100 ! The people who work here are mostly Veterans family members and others who donate their time. They have sales of up to 50% off, which makes everything practically free. They also apply a 15% additional discount for vets.

I always give so much to DAV, but after today Im done! I had several items put in front of my garage and come home to my things strewn all over my driveway, things broken with glass all over my driveway, and a note in my mailbox which read items must be bagged or boxed and cannot take wet boxes. Everything WAS bagged and boxed except for some furniture and NOTHING was wet! Last time I donated I watched the guy throw everything in the truck, even boxes marked "fragile, contains glass." I love my vets but sad to say I will no longer donate to them in the future.

Maybe the last true thrift store prices in town. Nothing like Unique, which is huge but honestly expensive for second hand wear. Definitely a bit grimy and small, but if you can find something its a great deal.
