Management sinkhole in 5 directions at once when you go to the customer service counter to ask your 10 second question. Which is to please give you a price for this beautiful Orchid that you found in the flower center but theres nobody in that department to help you because Lord Knows their off doing whatever other job somebody else needs help doing. Whats fun overworked underpaid Smith level minion manager supposed to do? With unbridled concern for my issue and a dedication to customer service paused listened reacted appropriately was polite courteous and formative value added service giving me the inside scoop on the trip a little Monopoly tickets and was patient when I didnt know the right phone number for my Safeway card still gave me the sale price on the two orchids I have purchased right there at her register behind the customer service counter while shes attempting to maintain the stock of over 18 year old products and lottery tickets doing 10 things at once damn fine job damn fine job keep up the great work thank you very much you made both my mother and my sister happy and be happy and maybe the managers above you will read this and make you happier. Please allow me to Repeat the moral of this message to Upper Safeway management... attention upper Safeway management comma upper Safeway management on Friday evening April 22nd in the year of Our Lord 2016 at 8:30 p.m. at the Safeway store on Connecticut Avenue in Kensington Maryland the two ladies whose name I will not publish button genuine hard workers mid-level minion management and most of all bilingual are also professional courteous polite informative access to your money grubbing making retail food facility during a very stressful Rush when there wasnt a price on a product when I approached the customer service desk with this issue finally when it was my turn I was treated with professionalism, kindness, gratitude and respect and I reciprocated. We signed up at this Safeway for a family portrait which took place in the break room. These are the reasons we had a negative (and foul smelling, see #6 below) experience: 1.) you pay $30 upfront for three sheets of the same portrait which, in at least our case, was the worse shot of the session. 2.) they take out a big stack (ALREADY PRINTED!) of much more desirable pictures and a CD with digital copies which they say will cost $200 on top of the $30 youve already paid. 3.) if you wanted to get the CD just by itself, they ask for $90. (Of course they dont want customers taking the CD down to Costco and getting exactly the prints you want for a few dollars each) 4.) the salesman met individually with customers behind a black curtain (oddly like the Wizard of Oz) almost whispering so as to prevent other waiting customers from hearing the prices. The situation felt exactly like one of those "hard sell" time share sales meeting. 5.) we waited for a total of three hours, counting both the photo shoot and the day of the pick up. This is despite the fact we had confirmed appointment times on both days. 6.) the photo shoot and pick up/sales meeting were held in the basement of a Safeway, in a shabby break room, where the air smelled exactly like that of a landfill, due to rotting meats and produce in the proximity. We walked away feeling scammed and were appalled by the obvious care they took in engineering the whole deception. A pox on Safeway for subjecting us to this ordeal.

Good location, easy parking, wide selection, decent management. Very rarely am I not able to find what Im looking for here. Its not the absolute best Safeway Ive been to, but its by far the most consistent, and theres a lot to be said for a grocery store being consistent. Checkout times are never long, theyve only been out of stock of an item Im looking for a couple times in the last several years, theyve added a decent number of good new items... Store is always clean, staff is all helpful, even on bad days (black friday etc.) This gets 5*s not because its the best, but because its rock solid and reliable. Any other safeway can be hit or miss with some of these things, but not this one.

My worst problem with this Safeway is that they do a piss poor job of removing EXPIRED dry goods from the shelves. I shouldnt have to check expiration dates as Im purchasing groceries! Of course I do with milk and yogurt, but chips? Granola bars? Who checks those? Not this Safeway apparently. Other than that, the parking lot is tiny and jams often occur during busy hours. One thing I will give them is the excellent selection of gravy and sauce mix packets, given you double check the expiration date before purchase. They also have self-checkout lines which is nice when you only have a few items.

This afternoon will be my final trip to the Kensington Safeway. Ive put up with the scarcity of checkers and the frustrations of the self-checkout system for much too long. Today, I waited in line for 20 minutes while a customer with a coupon book held the entire line hostage as she compared her selections to the coupon book she had brought with her; a store employee was deployed to trade items that were not covered by the coupons for those that were. They FINALLY opened up several new lines, but for me it was past the point of no return. Its back to Sniders and Whole Foods for me. Bye-bye Safeway.

Tirimisu is terrible - yellow cake with coffee flavored cream frosting. Didnt even resemble tirimisu. Got it as a desert for dinner guests - how embarassing! Ick. Apple pie had raw apples three times now. I gave them three chances, no more. There is never anyone behind the bakery counter. No bell, no button to push to call for help. Every time, I just stand there, listening to the ads over the intercom telling the shoppers to come on over to the bakery. Unfortunately, they forgot to staff it. This happens at least half of the times I go there.

Grew up in this area so I have been coming to this Safeway since I was a kid. I especially like this location because they are open literally 24 hours a day and the staff is nice for the most part plus theres a Starbucks which is super convenient and you can usually find whatever you are looking for...I would just avoid rush hour bc not only will you deal with traffic, there tends to be a line (around 5-7pm) ...and theres never a line at 11pm for those of you, like myself, who also dont like to wait in lines.

Seafood department always closes early. It closes at 9, but never fails to close 8:30 ish. I finally said something, but the supervisor has an attitude and does not remedy the situation by helping you get your product. Dont know the supervisor name, but she is a short Latina woman. Wish she would have a better work attitude. I am really busy and I had to really run to the store to get my product and its a dissapointment to drive and get there and its closed.
