BLOWN AWAY! WAY AWAY! This isnt a cycle its a well tuned machine!!!! This isnt a shop that sells - its family that helps... My son is an avid cyclist. He had held an inner city job, far from here out of state, involving bicycle delivery. It was not uncommon for him to ride upwards of 50 miles or more on busy days. In all sorts of weather. He also has worked in several bike shops too along the way and I consider him something of an expert. Now having moved back to our area, he wanted me to grab a bike and experience the joy he has of riding. Please keep in mind I am 62 years young and recently retired. Our journey to purchase ended with the Bicycle Escape - but it was only the beginning of a more incredible experience; one that will continue to grow. The folks at the Escape in Frederick really really know what they are doing. The bike I ended up with must have been a perfect fit for me. I must say that being "fit" for a cycle was something I would have never have imagined was necessary but my son and the folks at the shop insisted. I AM SO GLAD I LISTENED - when I went on my first outing with my wife (her perfect fit bike came from the Escape as well) and son we did 20 miles! I thought id be lucky to make 5. We would have gone farther if it hadnt been for lightening and thunder! The fitting process is essential and key - the folks at the Escape know how to get you into the right fit too, and what to do to tweak a near fit into a perfect one - they get it right. I am wowed... I am amazed... Cycling with this machine - I cant really call it a bicycle - is nothing like I have ever owned nothing like anything I ever rode as a kid. This machine takes whatever my body can put into it and it takes me places - it goes - it goes good - real good - like I had no idea how cool this would be. Keep in mind I am almost 63 - I have a list of issues buggin me from neuropathy left over from back surgery to a bad left leg from a motorcycle accident years ago. I thought I needed a comfort bike. The one I first tried was awesome. Then my son stepped into the discussion and the folks at the Escape showed me another type of bike that I test rode and it shocked me in how different it was... thats what I ended up with... I am so HAPPY and so is my wife. These folks at the Bicycle Escape are the best! Allow them to fit you - ask questions - and if your half as HAPPY as I am your life will not be the same. I can also attest too that their service and repairs (based on my sons experience) are expert - tops - reasonable and all... You can only be Happy here!

Im not affiliated with the Bicycle Escape, just a guy who felt I needed to give Tom and the rest of the crew some love. People are quick to leave reviews when they are dissatisfied but rarely when they are pleased. I bought my most recent bike from Tom back in August. I had been out of the Mountain bike scene for many years and much had changed. I was out of the loop and had tons of questions. Tom and Leslie were patient with me, provided me with recommendations based on the style of riding I like and got me to pull the trigger on an amazing bike. Since then every time I come in, Tom and Leslie recognize me and Im greeted with smiles and hellos. These guys know their stuff and their number one goal is making sure you are happy and your bike is in tip top condition. They dont try and force you into anything you dont want or need. They take the time to give detailed feedback to questions. These guys are the bees knees. Im glad they are my local bike shop. Keep doing what you guys are doing. Ryan

Bought a used bike at another shop outside of Frederick. Stopped into Bicycle Escape to look at clipless pedals a year ago, and was treated like a real person (even though I dont look like a super-athlete), got awesome information (even though I wasnt spending a bunch of money), and received incredible service (they put the pedals on for me, added the clips to my shoes, and then even attached the handlebar ends to my bike...for no extra charge. And the pricing was absolutely competitive. Im heading back there this week for a new bike (barely more than the used Frankenstein I bought for too much money at that "other" shop with lots of bikes and little service) and again, after a short visit in which I bought nothing this week I got incredibly helpful information from a super-informed employee...who DOESNT work on commission. Need a bike? Visit these folks first. Ive dealt with three employees, and they have all been AWESOME and totally un-intimidating.

"Honest Roger" and the rest of the crew are amazing. I brought in my bicycle thinking that I needed a new rear derailleur (and a tune up). Roger noticed that the braze-on was bent and adjusted it for free. We ordered a new derailleur and (despite being in the middle of the busiest week in the busiest season) scheduled a time I could bring it in for service to minimize the time Id be without the bike (Im on a pretty aggressive training schedule). When he got the bike he noticed that the rear derailleur probably wasnt the cause of the trouble. Instead of taking advantage of my ignorance and replacing the part anyway, he called me to let me know it didnt need it. HONESTY!! I know where Ill be bringing all of my bicycle business in future!

Love the atmosphere! I started using The Bicycle Escape when the shop I bought my bike from went out of business. They are very personable and knowledgable, and help me make decisions when I ask technical questions. I dont service my own bike, but I like to know what Im buying. Turn around time for service is lightening fast, and they have always delivered earlier than expected. No hard sells...they tell it like it is and allow me to decide.

This store is fabulous and the people are even better. I have serious orthopedic limitations, and the staff have helped me enormously to find the right bicycle for me. They have unlimited patience with fittings and settings and understanding for the not-so-perfect rider (me). Dont miss coming here if you want outstanding bicycles and expertise, with great folks. I am in my late 60s and I mean every word of this!

On Saturday of probably the busiest day of the year for outdoor enthusiasts, I took my bike to get a few things fixed on it, if they had time. I would have understood if they had no time or people to take care of it, but to my great joy, Roger helped me and took care of everything for me and I was riding my bike within an hour and a half. I would definitely recommend The Bicycle Escape for your biking needs.

Everything these guys do is exceptional. I purchased my specialized from them in 2012 and in 2014 they restored a 1992 Dyno Comp bike for my kid (unfortunately they did so well someone stole it :(). We keep coming back for tune ups each year and some day Ill take their classes and learn myself. Great selection. Competitive/comparable pricing. GREAT service!
