Lack of Customer Service and Knowledge: Im still trying to gather the right words to say about this jeweler. Im still in shock at how poorly I was treated today. With good ratings prior to my visit (though only a handful to go by), I was at first excited to see a local brick and mortar jeweler in Howard County appear on google maps. So, I thought to make a visit after work, but to my dismay, I was disappointed and frankly appalled by two things: 1. Lack of knowledge of the sales associate 2. Lack of customer service by the owner (this part encouraged me to write this review) Besides the sales pressure, though was very obvious and made me feel uncomfortable, what bothered me most was his disdain for me to even visit other jewelers to obtain specs--and I didnt even ask about pricing. Wouldnt any smart shopper visit other brick and mortar stores as well online stores to do their due diligence to make sure that quality, budget and customer service is fully met? I wanted to give them a benefit of doubt, but how can I trust a jeweler who treats his potential customer with a lack of consideration? I will never set foot into that store again and will make sure to tell others of my experience here.

This was one of those jewelry stores that would say to me, "Hey Kid whatre you looking for." I went in here ring hunting for my (now) wife. I was buzzed in and was met by a miserable looking woman, who I could plainly see was judging me because of my age, and being casually dressed (Cmon, a leather jacket isnt that slobby) so make sure you have wrinkles and are in a triple breasted suit when you enter. The only reason I give it two stars instead of one Is because despite being judged, and the ladies body language showing me she didnt want to help She did, she even brought out diamonds to lay in the settings to show me what they would look like. They also provided me with a pamphlet. However. However however however. When I told her my budget she scoffed at me, and this was when I was most offended. If this was too long, and you didnt want to read; Dont come here unless youre an old rich guy. The rings are antique-y style anyway. Mens wedding bands is not really full of choice.

The lady buzzed me in (secure front entrance) and I could see they had a few other people they were helping. I waited patiently for a few minutes, but no one said "be right there, can we help you?" or anything like that. I waited 15 minutes and tried several times to get someones attention. I was ignored. The people who were not helping anyone congregated in the back of the store and flew past me very quickly, it was apparent they did not want to help me as they were actually putting effort into ignoring me. I know they saw me come in because they had to open the door for me. I was planning on buying a gold wedding band for my husband but left in frustration because no one would acknowledge me. Based on this experience, I believe it is clear they discriminate their customers based on age, gender or appearance, as I had stopped on my way back from the gym and therefor had not dressed "fancy". I ended up buying the ring elsewhere the same day and I would not go back after this.

Just bought an engagement ring from Bermans after approximately one year of researching. It was between Bermans and Blue Nile. They have fantastically cut stones, which I have found to be one of the diamond qualities most difficult to assess. Sure you can go to a name brand jeweler (Kay, Jareds, Smyth, etc) and pay an extra 20% for the hearts on fire diamonds when the crew at Bermans only sells these cuts to begin with. I am very glad I went to them rather than buying online, they put my ring together in an hour while I waited, they re-size the ring as necessary, and they will polish it as often as you like, all at no additional charge. I would never think of going to a chain jeweler again...its like buying Tiffanys quality jewelry without paying for the name. And it is a local privately owned store to boot.

Thank You! The staff was helpful and professional each time we came in. They truly listened to us and what our vision was for our wedding band, and they did everything that they could to make it perfect, get it to us on time, and to meet a reasonable price range. I think it speaks volumes when I mention Bermans name to others, and everyone knows who I am talking about and also has glowing reviews. I had no idea, but I recently discovered that my brother and my sister-in-law have come to Bermans repeatedly for their engagement ring, wedding bands, and follow-up to any issues with prongs, setting, etc. We really appreciate all that you do for us, and for our friends and family who have trusted you. Thank you for adding to our wedding day and experience. We will be coming back.

I had batteries replaced on four watches two Wenger, Boss and Seico titanium. The batteries were $7 each. Less than a week later one watch stopped working and I returned it. When I call to check the manager beraided me accusing me several times of sabotaging the watch. He proclaimed I tried to fix my $300 watch after bermans replaced the battery broke it and returned it under false pretense of a faulty battery. He was rude obnoxious and belligerent, it was unbelievable! The broken watch was a graduation gift from my wife 20yrs ago. Today a month later two of the four watches are not working, unbelieveable! Terrible customer service I wouldnt let them fix my watches for free.

Insulting. I overpaid to have an engagement ring resized because they were able to do it on the same day. Big mistake! The stone came loose the next day, and they charged me to reset it! I asked the jeweler/owner why this happened and he said the platinum felt "weak" to him, and that the platinum rings he sells at his store are "strong". He agreed that it was platinum, but "it just felt weak" to him - I should have walked out the door right then! He continued to go on a tangent about how buying jewelry online is bad, even though I never told him where I bought my ring. He told me, in front of my fiancee, that the ring I bought was crap.

My fiancee took her grandmothers weeding ring to Bermans to be resized. We were told 7-10 days. We called twice and was told it would be ready later that week. It wasnt until 24 days after we originally dropped the ring off and I called to complain that the ring was ready. Also when looking at the weeding bands for my fiancee, the jeweler laughed at the engagement ring I had bought for her. We were told our only option was to have a ring custom made to fit it. We left and found a perfect match at the next jeweler we went to. I normally prefer to give my business to the local mom and pop stores but this place was a joke.

Sam (the owner) of Bermans Jewelers is phenomenal. He is honest, polite, friendly and patient... Answered all of our questions and offered advice and experience. He is not pushy and allows you to decide on your own while offering suggestions. My fiance and I purchased our wedding bands here and cannot be more pleased. Same custom made mine... I highly recommend this jeweler to everyone. Pricing is appropriate his custom work.
