My fiancée and I were at ToysRUs in Columbia, MD on Saturday. An employee told us about a buy two get one free sale for Wii games. He stated that we could come to the store at 8am in the morning the next day. Sunday, my fiancée and I ventured back to Columbia, MD. Upon arriving around 8:10am, I was dropped off at the store and noticed a line. Upon going onto the line, I was informed that the line was for the Wii console. When my fiancée arrived were informed that we could go to the front of the line and obtain our games. After witnessing a confused staff not knowing what to do at all, an employee at the front of the line was informed that we were to come back at 9:00am when the store officially opens. My fiancée and I returned around 8:45am. We should have stayed on line because we were told to go to the end of the Wii console line. Unfortunately, the line was moving at about one console every ten minutes per register. Two registers were open in the technology section. The manager, Mr. Hernandez, told a few disgruntled customers (after cutting them off and being curt) that this was the only way to do it since everything in the technology section had to be purchased in the technology section, as per policy. Strangely, someone bought a PS3 game at one of the regular store registers. Mr. Hernandez stated that they had been doing this for a year now (selling Wii consoles) and this was the only way to do it. To be honest with Mr. Hernandez, I have witnessed several other stores sell Wiis in the morning and had a much better system instead of selling one console every ten minutes per register. In this ToysRUs, people browsed the game section for at least ten minutes prior to buying anything. This resulted in a very disappointing shopping experience for everyone on line, including those wanting to buy Wii games as well as a Wii console. My fiancée and I decided to gave up because we had no guarantees of the games we wanted being available after waiting more than 3 hours. Mr. Hernandezs employees seem to be very confused in the morning even though selling Wii consoles have been going on throughout the year, then perhaps he needs to learn how to manage his employees properly, inform them that misinforming customers can be very bad, then he really needs to find another line of work. Mr. Hernandez did nothing to alleviate the situation, as he was walking around talking to customers with a 20oz. coffee in his hand and probably should have been at the registers taking orders. In addition, he should probably implement a different system for handling Wii system sales, as the line snaked around the entire store. Earlier in the morning, an employee over the walkie-talkies asked where their coffee cup was. Customers at that point proceeded to ask where the coffee pot was. Another employee stated that there was no coffee pot. Mr. Hernandez was the only person (employee or shopper) who had a cup of coffee (or any drink in hand that was not sold at the store) in hand. I fail to see how Mr. Hernandez sets a good example for his employees or his customers. Allowing the use of the walkie-talkie system to ask for their coffee cup is obviously an unintended use of the system which should be reserved for handling certain retail situations. While I understand it may be good to be entertained over the walkie-talkie system from time to time, such a system can easily be heard by customers. I hope ToysRUs ensures that Mr. Hernandez receives the proper training that he needs to properly manage a store. His employees did not seem to understand the policies he constantly cited and should probably inform them of this. If anyone needs a Wii console, please consider going to another ToysRUs when buying it, I recommend patronizing this store for items other than a Wii console at all. I hope nobody has to waste a few hours of their time just to be aggravated by a manager such as Mr. Hernandez or by the misinformation of his employees. I have had wonderful experiences at this ToysRUs, however, these events were simply unacceptable.

My wife and I ordered a double stroller from the store after it was out of stock. We paid with two gift cards and put the remainder on our debit card. We were then told that we would have the stroller in 7-10 days. 5 days after we ordered we received an email stating that the ordered was cancelled. We called the 1-800 number and we were told that they never received payment (obviously the store took the money from us). We were told to go into the store. We went into the store the next day and told them but they couldnt find the gift cards (which they kept). So they said that we should again call the 1-800 number because they would be able to fix the issue. Low and behold, when we called the 1-800 number we go the same line from them. I am going into the store tomorrow and will not leave until I have cash in hand or a stroller. This has been the worst experience I have had with Toys R Us and the lack of communication between the 1-800 number and the store is appalling. You should never tell a a customer to go into a store and explain to the store why thye need to refund you. That should be up to someone who actually works for the company. SO FRUSTRATED.

Im not referring to the ToysRUs on Dobbin. Im referring to ToysRUs and BabiesRUs as a corporation. I ordered my daughters xmas gifts online with PLENTY of time to spare for the holidays. But JUST IN CASE, I chose the expedited shipping to be sure they arrived on time. I recieved a confrimation from the company assuring the gifts would arrive a week before the holiday. Well, without reason or any notification, the shipping was switched to "standard". I happened to log into my account on the day the packages were supposed to arrive, and noticed that the shipping speed had been changed. The company was still charging me for expedited shipping! HA! After waiting on hold for TWO HOURS, I finally spoke with a representative who could not explain, for the life of her, why they would change the shipping speed without telling me and still charge my account for it. They ruined my xmas. I had to go last minute shopping so that my kid had something to open that morning and the gifts arrived a week later. Ill never shop here again, and Ill make sure none of my friends and family do either.

I stopped at this Toys R Us too return an item I purchased at the Glen Burnie location, simply because the item was in the car and I noticed there was a Toys R Us here. This location is so much better managed than Glen Burnie. First this location is clean and bright, with wide aisles, a lot more selection and mostly better stocked (I did notice video games seemed only slightly less stocked than Glen Burnie). Even though I came on a weekday, they had two people at the service desk and one checkout leave open (theres was no line at all). This is a night and day difference between what Im used to in Glen Burnie. They typically have only the service desk open. The return was quite easy, no line, no fuss. Afterwards my girls wanted to see if they had Elena of Avalor dolls, and they had tone of options. Most other stores (Toys R Us or otherwise). As with all Toys R Us locations, the toys are overpriced unless on sale or clearance. But if you want a certain toy with no fuss, this is the place to go.
