Long story short: Bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex for home use. 1 year warranty. I have purchased refurbished computers (elsewhere) before and have gotten 4 to 5 years of use out of them no problem. Thats not an unreasonable expectation in this world very mature PC technology. 18 or so months after purchasing from PC Retro, the Optiplex died. Wont boot. Nothing on the screen. Only flashing error codes on the unit itself. Went to PC Retro to see what my options were....maybe a free/cheap diagnostic to see what is wrong....or maybe some sort of discount on the purchase of (another) refurbished unit. Nope. None of the above. $75 diagnostic fee and ship it to the "warehouse" only God knows where to do the actual diagnosis. Then, whatever cost of the parts that might be needed. No one in their right mind would pay $75 to diagnose a $219 computer. And then pay for parts? Not a chance. So, what about a discount on another purchase? Nope. Not interested. Sorry for your luck. That was the attitude. Couldnt care less that the PC that THEY refurbished was junk. So, I was forced to write this review. And I will post it in as many places as I can find. Avoid this operation. They care nothing about customer service and repeat customers. DONT DO IT.

The store employee (maybe owner?) was very helpful. I arrived close to closing time, knowing what I wanted to purchase (a monitor for a PC) but asking a lot of questions. The employee patiently answered all of my questions, and at my request hooked up a used monitor I was interested in so that I could see that it worked properly. The monitor I ended up getting, a 19" Dell LCD, was very reasonably priced, only $40! And theres a good selection of used equipment, and some new, at the store.

Good place for used computers and laptops. It is almost all used equipment form corporations who do a tech upgrade every few years. They have accessories such as power cords and chargers, mice and keyboards. Staff is knowledgeable. There is a decent exchange program for warranty. Parking is tight. They also accept used equipment. I got a good projector there for presentations.
