I had an appointment for Marys Bridal in Annapolis but after reading the terrible reviews and learning of her horrible reputation around Annapolis, I canceled and made an appointment for Lex Bridal Designs instead. I was a bit concerned when we arrived because it looks like a small house from the outside. My concerns were immediately laid to rest the moment we walked inside. Surprisingly, they have a deceptively large selection of gowns and unlike some other stores, they encourage you to go through and pick out the ones that you would like to try on. Andrea, the store manager helped me get into the gowns and if there was anything that I didnt like about a particular gown, she would whip something up with bead work that she had done, or sleeves that could be made out of chiffon, etc.. Pretty much anything I wanted, she had a solution for and was willing to show me what could be done. Needless to say, we (my mom, sister and best friend) were there for 6.5 hours and everyone but my mom (she wanted to wait a few more months before shopping for herself) got a dress for my wedding! While my best friend and sister were being helped, I decided to sit in the dress that I picked out to ensure it was comfortable. While I was sitting there, out comes the owner, Lex! She made me stand up and show her everything Andrea and I had talked about doing to the dress. Lex is the seamstress and dress designer and Andrea is the bead designer. They are both extremely honest so if they dont like something, rest assured, they will tell you. Their main goal is to have you as happy and beautiful as possible on your big day and it shows!! If only all of the stores had such phenomenal customer service!! A few tips I learned during my wedding dress shopping experience: 1. I had read in a bridal magazine not to go dress shopping on the weekends because thats when everyone goes. Sure enough, where it was just us the majority of the day on Friday, they had 22 bookings for Sat. If we had gone during the weekend, it would have been impossible to spend 6.5 hours with us. 2. Sit in the dress that you are thinking about getting. Remember, you are going to have to sit, stand, bend over, etc. in this dress so you want to be comfortable. 3. Have someone take pictures of you in the dresses that you are considering from every angle (front, side and back) and look at the pictures before buying your dress. I was a bit annoyed with all of the picture taking until I got home and realized that the elaborate bead work that I had chosen to go at the top of my dress actually drew attention to my enormous chest. Something I definitely do not want to do! It turned out, the much simpler line of beads that Andrea had first suggested for the top of my dress added to the dress, but did not draw attention to my chest! Had my mom not insisted on taking so many photos, I would not have realized this until it was too late!!

Ive known and used Lex for over 15 years. Recently she "altered" for $1600 a wedding dress. She paid no attention to deadlines, set fitting appointments, details about the dress, matching thread to the dress. She put a white zipper in a champagne dress. The zipper was so cheap, it broke two days before the wedding. The head of the zipper fell right off the dress. Unfortunately this was a destination wedding and it was too far away for Lex to fix. Talk about a nightmare. Additionally, Lex did not tell the bride that the alterations will cost $1600 until AFTER she had cut and marked the dress! The bride had not choice. But for that kind of money for alterations only, I would expect more. I would recommend your local dry cleaners over Lex. Sorry, Lex, but you really let us down. People need to know that your quality reputation no longer exists. Wedding days are big days, once in a lifetime event, every Bride deserves to get it right.

I am really surprised at the bad reviews b/c I had a WONDERFUL experience at Lex Bridal designs. I almost never leave reviews, and it has taken me forever (I married almost 2 yrs ago) to finally leave one but I felt I had to when I saw the negative reviews. I admit when I first got there I almost did not go in b/c the outside appearance is deceiving. But GO IN, once you are in you will find a GREAT selection of dresses! I went there to buy a dress I found online/at another store, but Lex had it for about $300 less (they have very reasonable prices). However once I was there I noticed all the beautiful gowns they had and had to try a bunch on. I picked an original Lex design and although I wanted a simple dress (for a beach wedding) it was too simple and they were more than happy to alter it exaclty how I wanted it! After a few fittings I had the perfect dress for me and it is one of a kind :) I would definitely recommend Lex Bridal!

I knew going in that I would have to be careful working with Lex and I was right. Day of wedding dresses had to be cleaned, alterations were not complete. More or less the job was half assed all the way. Called after the wedding to calmly talk to her about the problems and she says Im just blaming her for problems, it was my fault for not getting things right and she wouldnt refund some money that were paid for alterations not completed. Perfectly happy to talk to me until she finds out there was a problem and then she was "busy" and hung up the phone. Very unprofessional and its kinda heartbreaking when someone uses one the biggest days for you and treats it like its crap and takes the money and runs. Very sad.

I cant say enough great things about Lex Bridal Designs. The service is outstanding! Lex and Andrea made my day! When I put on the dress" the second time my mother, my sister, then me and even Lex started crying tears of joy. Sold! You know its a great place when even the owner is sharing the emotions you experience when you find the one. Incredible. They are hands on and have suggestions that will make your dress unique only to you. I felt like a princess. If you want the experience you think you aught to get, then go here.

She sold me a custom silk gown in a size 2. I paid her in full. The dress arrived with tags that said made in China 100% polyester size 12 that she attempted to alter. I stopped back by to find a resolution. She was in complete denial. Unfortunately the dress was several thousand dollars. I guess this is why brides go to wash DC and by and pay 10k+. This was a total nightmare. And sadly Marys in Annapolis by the mall is just as bad. I am not sure where you go for quality???

Audrea and Lex are Wonderful! From the moment I walked in the salon I felt like a princess. They smile and help you understand the style that will compliment you the best on your Big Day. They let you try-on all the styles you prefer and then they ask if you would try on one or two they recommend. I of course looked the best in the one they reccomended, that is what all those years of experience yield. Defintely visit this spot when you get engaged!
